Ok, so I'm just sharing. I'm so excited! Hubby has been wanting to get a new dog since we lost our Australian Shepherd in 2004, at 14 years old.
I didn't want a new dog right away because I didn't know how our Shih-Tzu would take it. These two were companions for 11 years.
We got a little female Chocolate Lab, and named her Lakota. Lakota was the chosen name because it means "friend" and it represents my hubby's Native American heritage.
She is a gem. However, it is like having a baby all over again. Crying and poddy trips during the night. I'm loving it though. Next will be obedience training. Christy, our Shih-Tzu, hasn't quite warmed up yet, but each day she gets a little closer. They'll be friends before long.
