Re: Information Underload... maybe the biggest problem entrepreneurs have.

First, replying to your questions. Yes. This senario exists because of two sides to everything. I've learned from my sources not to be tempted to answer questions that haven't been asked. That leads me to say why the senario exists, in my opinion. Before I forget, Bill Gates can say anything he likes and millions will listen. Entrepeneures are also buyers so they're sensitive to strategies and issues they also use. When I get asked about Amsoil, one of the first questions is "How much does it cost? and "What's Amsoil". I could answer with, "How much do you want to spend?" That leads me to say, such a question is the wrong one. When overloading with information, it's a shot-gun approach that may lead the inquirer to more specific questions. On the Amsoil topic, it's best not to expect the bottomline answer until enough information has been processed to make an intellegent choice to go ahead with making the purchase or choosing an account option. To illustrate, that's why I offer a Preferred Customer Account which is less that Factory Direct Catalog price but is open for top-up to Dealer if one chooses later. During this period it is a good way to understand what Amsoil's benefits and products are all about. Having a connection with the right people is one that needs more input before I would risk a reply at this point. I'm sure other ventures could easily illustrate the overload with information topic. Interesting topic, will watch it for the next day or so.

Based on the information I have recived so far I should do the following but not necessarly in the order I will list. 1. Run fast 2. Walk so 3. Do not move 4. Spin in circles 5. Trust no one 6. Trust everyone 7. Person "A" is right the rest are all wrong. 8. Everyone is wrong except person "A". I think thet pretty well sums its up.

------------------------------------------- Do you feel you've ever suffered from "information underload? ------------------------------------------- Sadly, most definitely. There's tons of information out there but most of it is literally crap. Then through mere knowledge ignorance others unknowingly continue the cycle. These people tend to be those looking to get there through the quickest route possible without wanting to spend any time checking things out. I think, kind of as in life, its only through experience that we learn to weed out the good information from the bad.

Interesting topic Linda. I enjoyed reading all the posts. I have been a victim of information overload and information underload in trying to get into the internet marketing business. I have purchased more ebooks than I care to confess to, subscribed to lots of ezines, read until I can't see straight anymore. I feel like I am spinning my wheels. I need to unsubscribe from some programs and ezines but need to sort through them to determine which ones to keep. My email inbox is inundated with tons of marketing information. It seems that I am not the only one in this situation. When you start out as a complete newbie there is so much to learn. I guess part of it is trial and error. Hopefully the error part won't grow too large! DonnaZ

Linda, Donna has described perfectly the situation many of us find ourselves in. The only information underload I have is how to determine who is credible, whose advice I should take. Or perhaps I should say 'who else'. I have established to my own satisfaction that you are credible and I should listen to you. However, you can't be my 24/7 encyclopedia. You have 1 or 2 other clients ;-) with whom I have to share your attention. I don't need to be spoon-fed, I can read and apply instructions, suggestions, etc. But, even at 800+ words a minute, I can't read everything I can find on the web about literally anything I care to look for. I never thought before the last few months that I had Attention Deficit Disorder--is it possible to develop that? I just read in OMMA magazine a sentence that summed it up for me: ============================================ Our time online increasingly feels like rummaging through large, poorly organized closets--only these closets are structured like mazes and have televisions with blaring sound. ============================================ It's beyond frustrating. I'm beginning to believe it's actually a threat to our health. Cheri
