Most of these are called "Spoof" or "Phishing" I have also just recieved ones from ebay saying that account is suspended, which was fraud, when logging into account as precaution it was found to be fake. There has been a lot of emails going around as paypal ones aimed at collecting your information. Chase banking is another recent one also.

Hi, Tanya, A very timely warning because there is so much of this going on at the moment. I regularly receive eMails from 'eBay' asking me to complete a payment or supply a an account for a refund. My non existent Chase Bank credit card is always being suspected of receiving unusual traffic - well, once or twice a week, any way. For me, most of these scams are obvious because I do not live in an English speaking country, especially not in America, and would not expect official letters to be in English. Regards

Hi again! This is a great topic! Yes, these scammers have all kinds of tricks up their sleeves. Here are just a few I've received: 1) "Congratulations on becoming a Power Seller!" - when I have NO listings up. 2) "I sent payment, where is my item? Contact me immediately before I report you to eBay!" - when I have NO listings up. 3) "Your account has been suspended." - sure! 4) "We have noticed illegal activity on your account..." or "We have noticed your account has been logged into from another country...Please log-in to verify who you are..." - when what they really mean is they're TRYING to compromise your account! LOL 5) "What would the shipping cost be to the UK for this item?" - when I have NO listings up. ...and I'm sure there's thousands more, but those are just ones I've gotten recently. LOL Most of them threaten "account suspension" so that's pretty much a dead giveaway that they're trying to scare you into giving up your info. Ebay account problems have increased dramatically recently, so do be careful with e-mails you receive. The best way to tell if an e-mail is from eBay is to actually type in the ebay address yourself, log-in and check your mail there - if the msg you got is in there as well, then it IS from eBay. If it's not in your eBay mail section of my eBay, then it's a scam. Hope this helps! Have a great day! Later, Flo
