John,
I see where Big Foot or Sasquatch has pretty well won the vote!
Can I lay a story about Big Foot on you?
No?
Well, to bad because I am going to any way!
In the latter part of 1946 we lived in Packwood, WA where my mother was running a small hotel (more of a boarding house with 16 rooms.
My older brother Bill was 16 and was working for a man leading pack strings out to the fire towers the Forest Service had all around the state.
There were many times he would be gone a week taking supplies to the rangers that stayed in the towers. This required camping out both going out and coming coming back in.
One time when he returned he told us of seeing this creature that looked like a bear except it stood up and ran like a man.
Now he was familuar with bears and had watched them many times.
Of course everyone laughed at his story and they began to call him Windy Bill, which he has never lived down.
I myself was familuar with bears and the smell of them. There were times when I was we young lad, that I would grab my pup tent and some grocerys and take to the woods to camp for a week.
I always had two guns, a 22 calibur pistol and a 35 calibur Marlin lever action rifle.
I would pick berries, catch fish to cook over a fire, and spend the time viewing God's creation.
(Back to the story James)
One time I was sitting looking out over the country and I felt as though some one or something was watching me, and the hair on my head stood up! (Yes, I did have hair on my head at one time and I have pictures to prove it!)
Then I began to smell this extremly strong odor of an animal but it did not smell like a bear. I never did see what it was, but to this day I believe that Sasquatch paid me a visit!
There have been many reports in that area of people seeing them cross the road at night.
You know, every so often some strange animal, reptile, or fish is discovered and one day I think someone will come up with some clear evidence that Sasquatch does exist.
