Re: Where Are You From and What is So Great About that Place?

Hi, Gary I was just wondering about this with regard to a few of my friends the other day. Great timing! I currently live in a suburb of Salt Lake City, UT. Salt Lake and it's 'burbs fill a bowl-shaped valley also named Salt Lake, after (drum roll) the Great Salt Lake, a remnant of a former geologic era. It's quite odd, being in a desert, to travel west of here and see miles and miles of shallow water stretching to the horizon. Why we're here would be too long a story, but we stay because three of our four kids are here, as well as two of our four grandkids. If and when we leave, it will be for a state where adulthood is legal. But it won't be until we can financially justify visiting often to see our family! Yes, Utah's culture and government are dominated by a religious group. No, I am not one of them, but I respect the social system and support group they have created for themselves. Utah's scenery is spectacular, and they say we have the greatest snow on earth...wouldn't know as I'm not a skier. Come see for yourself! Cheri

Hi; From Vancouver, B.C. Canada here. So what is great about this city? Let's see it rains, rains and some days even rains. Other wise it's an ok place to live. I have in the past lived all over the world and do have a few fav places. In Canada it has to be Montreal (lived in Pointe Claire for a while). In USA the bay area (lived all around in several of the ciries around San Fran for a few years). In Europe it has to be örebro, Sweden.

Hi: Okay, I'll play. I'm in the GTA (Greater Toronto Area) What's great about it? Hmmm... ... My (adult) daughter lives close enough to visit. ... Peter's kids live close enough to visit. ... It has summer half the year. lol (Don't like winter) ... Telling my customers "I'm in Toronto" is a lot easier than saying "I'm in Saskatchewan." Most people outside Canada can't say it, nevermind know where it is. EVERYONE in the world knows where Toronto is. ... Bank managers don't "personally keep an eye on" anyone that works from home on the Internet like they did out in the prairies. lol Here the tellers think it's pretty cool and don't "flag" the manager when we come in. (Bizarre, but true) As to the "I figure it must be great or you wouldn't stay there!" part... I'm not sure on that one. Somewhere with less pollution and more Mother Nature is an appealing goal for down the road. : ) Linda

Studinator, I am from Hawthorne, New Jersey. The best thing about it is that it is a small, close knit community and raising a child, I find that to be a major plus. No matter where I go people are asking me where the "Queen", aka my 5 yr old daughter, is and why isn't she with me. Another plus is that my husband is from a large family, he is one of 12, and several of my in-laws also reside in town. Although people, including myself, complain about the snow in winter, I have to admit, I enjoy the four seasons. Even more so since my daugther has been born. She finds something about each season that absolutely delights her so it's like learning about each season all over again.
