Hi, Ivy Well, of course the first thing I did was go to your profile to see if we are contemporaries. You haven't posted your age, but from your picture I'd say I'm somewhat older. I'm 57. Maybe the song was out of vogue by the time you were a scout leader, or maybe it was only popular here in the US. I know they weren't singing it by the time my daughters were scouts. When I was younger it was sung as a round, with each wave joining in at the 'one is silver' phrase. I still remember the melody. Thanks for coming by, and for taking my point. Cheri
