I have made time at last to rewrite my day which got lost somewhere in the ether a few days ago.
Hope you enjoy.

March 1st 2007.
Wow! Just realised today's the day. Seems like ages since I planned this but it's now coming together.
My wife (Nannie here from now on)and I love having Sophie to stay with us.
She's our ray of sunshine. She is 9 years old in a couple of days (going on 19) and she's here today. She's getting a few days respite from her 2 year old sister, who demands all the attention and gets it as she is so beautiful but dangerous.
Emily loves buttons, not the type you have on your jacket but the ones you get on TV's, on mobile phones, on lamps or cars but best of all on computers. ''Nannie, I press button''...... '',''NO EMILy....'',too late! Nannies computer at the post office has just gone off, 15 minute reboot and cross customers coming up. Oh well, we love her, her sister's not so sure.
Anyway, it's March 1st and unknown to Sophie the pony that she always wanted is on it's way and she doesn't know. Should arrive this evening.
Sophie makes us a cup of tea and we discuss what to do.
Sophie wants to visit our local small town museum. She LOVES stones and gems and fossils. The museum is a natural history educational museum and they have LOADS of rocks. We agree and set off.
It is a wonderful late winter's day and the sun has warmth for the first time this year. A glorious English day.
We arrive at the museum and after looking at all the wild flowers and fungi and things that people have brought in we make for the rocks.
"Grandad, have you seen this?" or "this", "look at this and the sizeof that" "have you seen the insect in the amber?" "Wow! three million years old" etc.
We have fun.
Nannie has been off looking at the Egyptian stuff, in particular the mummy withit's toe peeping out from the bandages. Sophie joins her and discusses this in depth. We make our way tothe shop, patting Arthur (the stuffed brown bear) on the head, his fur's getting a bit thin. Too much patting.
Sophie buys some things for Mummy and Daddy and a furry toy for Emily. We chat to the lady in the shop and then make our way into the town.
We poke in corners of gift shops a buy a few needed items and then think mmmmmmm lunch.
We go to the pizza place and Sophie has her favourite, so do we.
We walk home and get things ready for tonight. We are having a barbeque outside with the patio heater on and lots of friends to keep warm. Sophie doesn't know that Mummy and Daddy and a couple of her friends are arriving and it comes as a real surprise. We have a brilliant fun evening.
When everyone has gone and Sophie has had her night time drink she gets me to tell her a couple (well three) stories and goes to sleep.
An hour passes and the phone rings.
The lorry with the pony has arrived and we excitedly go outside to arrange to take delivery.
WE are excited and Sophie knows nothing. She will be so happy! Her own pony.
But that is March 2nd's story.
Who knows maybe this time next year we might afford a pony.
