Welcome To Dave Cottrell's Friends...
2/23/2006 2:13:19 AM
Hi: When I logged in this evening to check my messages and friend requests, I felt like I was having a birthday party a few days early, what with all the new friends that arrived. lol This post is to thank Dave Cottrell for recommending my forum in his... and to welcome all new members who joined because Dave recommended me. Thank you, Dave - and welcome to all of you. In Dave's thread, Arthur said; ========================================== I've said it before but it bears repeating - the truth may be out there - but it sure isn't on the internet in noticeable quantities. My faith in the written word has been absolutely shattered! ========================================== I'd like to reply to that here... and I'll mention it at Dave's, too. (Hope you don't mind a cross posting, Dave. Not like I gave you a choice. lol) What you're seeing, Arthur, is my pet peeve. The Internet is the great equalizer. It gives small entrepreneurs the same reach as big corporations. A small business really can make their dreams come true. I know because I've done it for my clients. Repeatedly. But, for every bit of good information out there, there's 100 pieces of garbage, if not more. There is greed and ignorance. There are people that sell stuff without knowing whether what they are recommending is any good. There are people that will rip you off as long as they don't have to look you in the eye. (Some would even face to face.) There are people that will sell you garbage because they don't know any better, too. There are people that come to places like Adland and make friends, and then convince their friends to get into lame marketing plans that don't make any of them any money and just waste a lot of everyone's time. Whatever you can think of it's all out there. It's the top of humanity and the bottom of humanity. The good and the bad. It's like the wild, wild west with few rules and less scruples. But - and this is a big one - among all the shams and scams and wildness, there ARE nuggets of gold. Don't let the bad blind you to the good. It IS possible to succeed online, but you have to follow your head and not let wild sales pitches and extravagent claims snare you. When I got online, I was a single mom with divorce debt over my eyeballs, bills to pay and a small child to feed and clothe. It was sink or swim. I will never forget the day I asked my own child to "show Mommy how to go on the Internet." lol I've come a LONG way since then and one thing I've learned -- is that anyone can do it. Since those humble beginnings, my goal has become to help people achieve that. Read through my forums. In particular, read the "What the Bleep?" thread. Look for the "Dream" threads, too. And - keep an eye of this forum. I have some new things coming up that I think you'll really, really enjoy. Thanks again, Dave... : ) Linda

Hi Linda, It is a real pleasure to recommend your forums. Indeed, there are hundreds of pieces of garbage out there and only a few like you who tirelessly try to get the truth out and really help people succeed. It's funny, because I've met a lot of "successful" people online and have recruited many of them over the years, only to find that they were successful not because they were honest or even nice, but because they were skilled in the art of appealing to the emotion and generally used their skills to flog junk. They're no longer affiliated with me, because their way of doing business is to skim the cream on anything that comes down the pike as fast as they can, and then jump to the next opp leaving all the people they've sucked in with no way to recoup their money, because they don't know how to write great hogwash. They may or may not be wealthy, but they have no real friends as the only people who will associate with them are others like themselves who are spending their days trying to rip each other off first on the next big get-rich-quick scheme. This brings up another potential forum topic; where do you draw the line between being a good salesperson and being a con artist? Hmmmmm... Anyway, it's better to have enough to eat and lots of friends, than to be very wealthy and alone. God bless, Dave

Way to go Linda ! Great Writing. I remember the day my Dad asked me how to get online. It was with a Commodore 64 ! One saying always comes to mind when Business meets Internet, Welcome to the Internet ! Take care,
