Hi Marilyn,
Thank you so much for sharing this very touching story.
It's sad, and often painfully apparent in the online world, that so many are charging after their own wealth and fame, while ignoring the people all around them.
Life is so much more than what we have. It's really not about the name we make for ourselves or the things we accumulate. Those things will quickly disappear and be forgotten when we die.
The WAY we do what we do in this life is what really counts. Every moment of every day we can choose to do the things that make a difference to others. This will not necessarily prevent us from accumulating some wealth or from becoming famous, but those things should not be our reason for living. I've met a lot of really unhappy and dissatisfied famous, wealthy people over the years in the work I've done, and can tell you that they would far rather have been a blessing to others than old, wealthy, alone, and forgotten.
The Mama in the story would never be forgotten by that boy, and the influence she had on him would last far into the future, long after she had left this life, as it passed on into future generations.
Life is not about what you do or what you get; it's about how you live it.
God bless,
Dave
