During student life, in one lecture class one professor was giving a lecture on urinary tract infection. While he was telling the causes of infection, he mentioned one interesting cause. That was TV serials watching, especially for woman. In our area, women were so much addicted to TV serials. So they used to hold urine in urinary bladder until serial finished. It was a funny cause but it had the logic.
Holding urine for long time (for any reasons) is one of the causes of urinary tract infection or bladder infection.
Today one male patient came to health center. He was having severe lower abdominal pain, difficulty in passing urine as well as pain during passing urine. All features were in favor of bladder infection. Interestingly he was mentioning repeatedly the cause as holding urine for long time in last few days.
It is also medically accepted cause of bladder infection. That’s why patients of bladder infection is encouraged to void urine frequently and completely.
