Another great forum, my friend! Sorry I haven't been around as much - been doing a lot of research.
When I lived in Prince Rupert, there was a contractor there who built 'spec' homes. They came with only basic landscaping and unfinished basements, making them a great investment for short term owners who could finish them off and make some good money.
The problem was the beautiful concrete driveways. They were too thin, and were poured on top of a base of hog fuel, which is wood material from waste would that is run through a grinder.
These driveways looked great and held the family care, at first, at least, but I did see them collapse when the new owner received a nice dump truck load of topsoil for landscaping. Ya gotta be careful!!
It's a good idea to ask around (in this case ask the neighbors) whenever you're buying anything.
