The Many Benefits of Diatomaceous Earth

by Luella May

(The Best Years in Life) Few people give much thought to lowly diatoms, single-celled marine micro-organism that are found in abundance in large bodies of water. However, when these tiny organisms die their skeletal remains settle to the bottom, become fossilized over time and accumulate to produce one of nature's most beneficial and healthful substances: diatomaceous earth. Diatomaceous Earth

Diatomaceous earth is a natural dewormer/parasite eliminator as well at a detoxer of heavy metals, bacteria and viruses. It promotes healthy skin, hair, and nails, is a digestive aid and colon cleanser, helps lower bad cholesterol, regulates blood pressure and aids in relieving sore joints.

Hi Luella,

I just told Nellie and Pat about this Diatomaceous Earth. It is wonderful for killing bugs of all kind. Especially fleas. You can put it all though your house and it will not harm anything other then bugs. I use it on my veggies for bugs too, plus it is good for the soil.

When I go my 9 weeks old kittens, they had a few fleas. I put DE on them and by, by fleas.

Yep, Diatomaceous Earth is great for everything. Great in controlling garden pests without using toxic chemicals.

I just used DE on all my dogs. I saw Misty scratching and when I looked....... woops! I saw a couple of fleas. So they all got sprinkled with DE. Then I sprinkled it throughout the house on the rugs and left it there for two days. Then I vacuumed it up. No more fleas.

Word of caution. When you sprinkle DE, keep it away from your pet's nose so they don't breathe it in, and make sure you don't breathe it in because it can irritate nasal passages. Once it settles, it's perfectly fine to read. And then, leave the DE on your pet for one day. After that bathe your pet because DE does tend to dry the skin.
