Chondrocidaris Brevispina!

The ocean never ceases to amaze. Here is Chondrocidaris brevispina, a rare sea urchin from the Indo-Pacific region. Very little research has been done on the species, but we do know that it is extremely well protected with a thick armour of hard shell covered in spines.

10_1_136.gifHi Hafiz,

How big do these grow? This looks like it could belong to the Starfish or Crab family. Any information as to whether it is edible? If it is, it looks like it could be quite meaty. In the past ten years or so there have been quite a few new species of sea life discovered. Could it be that they have always been there but in a dormant stage?

GOD BLESS YOU

~Mike~
