Did you see the Bouguereau images? A few weeks ago I dreamed of making a thread on him but alas, he was maybe a little too prone to portray nude women, and also little girls, and I am afraid no thread about him and his works would have been complete without posting them, so after a little consideration I desisted from it, at least fot the time being.

Yes,

I certainly noted the Bouguereau paintings, indeed they were my favourites.

I was going to say so but couldn't remember how to spell his name and was short of time.

Beautiful fails to say it all.

Other than the Bouguereau paintings, I love this one by Nicolai Harlamoff (see the page here). So beautiful, and her eyes are expressive beyond belief. The work on the hair also seems to me incredibly well done. The color in general is wonderful, and so on. So many amazing artists, really incredible.

NOTE:
There is this page at The Atheneum dedicated to his paintings - mostly portraits of young girls.

What I find most commendable is the work developed by the Art Renewal Center (ARC) especially in connection with the promotion of mainly great figurative artists whether of the Romantic, the Academic, the NeoClassical, and so on schools. At a time when I was being both attracted and also on occasion repelled by non-figurative artists who pretended to belong to the surrealist, expressionist, and abstract, etc, trends, some of them not even able to paint a face that did not seem the work of a bad cartoonist or a worse graffiter, I discovered this trove of real artists who put beauty, expression, proportion, color, composition and, above all, hard work above any other cheap consideration. And it was thanks to mainly the ARC but also the Artcyclopedia, the Artchive, the Atheneum, the CGFA, etc. websites.
