These are some stands that were made for vertical gardening, and compact space gardening.

This is a vertical garden using pvc pipe. These pictures show you how to make one.

This is a vertical garden made out of bamboo. A word of caution though. Bamboo can splinter easily, so if your not sure what your doing, you may want to get a carpenter to cut the bamboo for you.
If you look around, many times you can find places to get the bamboo for free, if you cut it down. Otherwise the cost can build up a bit, so make sure to research getting bamboo before you plan on doing this.

I love the bamboo one.

Here is another wall, this one made from stacking units.

Beautiful.

There is a company called "Living Wall Company" which specializes in building vertical walls to grow plants.

This does several things, depending on where the wall is.

You can grow food plants in them, if they are away from the road so they don't get polluted.

They help cut down on the heat generated by walls being baked by the sun constantly.

They look better than a plain concrete or brick wall.

They retain the soil behind them better due to the roots of the plants growing into them.
