RE: SOUND OFF ON ANY TOPIC YOU WANT TO.

Did any of you grow up seeing young guys bringing their guns to school in the trunk of their car or mounted on a rack in the rear window of their truck?? Did it ever cross your mind that they were going to do a mass shooting somewhere?? Of course not but then everyone knew right from wrong and guns were as much a part of a young man's growing up as anything else. I can remember when my son and stepson got their first guns when they were teenagers. That was just part of growing into manhood, or at least it was in the south.

Samuel L Jackson said this today about the Sandy Hook shooting: “I don’t think it’s about more gun control. I grew up in the South with guns everywhere and we never shot anyone. This [shooting] is about people who aren’t taught the value of life.” LIKE if you agree.

If there had been guns in the school, the shooter may not have gone to the school at all.

I read a full page about this shooting in our local paper with the articles coming from news media such as AP. There was some talk of this boy having had some mental issues but not one word about whether he had been taking prescribed psychiatric drugs or not. Judging from what they said, it was very likely that he was on some sort of psychiatric meds which have side effects such as homicidal and suicidal tendencies.

The killer was not guns, it was not a madman, IT WAS PHARMACEUTICAL COMPANIES who know what the side effects are but they sell them anyway. They are the real murderers. The only way we can change that is to inform as many people as possible. We should be doing this while the iron is hot.

My Truck had a fully stocked gun rack. As you point out we didn't have any mass killings, and come to think of it no one broke into my truck and stole my guns either. I grew up in Tennessee, near Nashville and I never once was bothered because of my guns in the rack.

Back then we ran the roads everywhere. When the city folks started moving to the area they brought their rules and crime with them.

It's amazing the difference in opinion and views in out two countries.

I'm still not comfortable even seeing guns with the police at Heathrow Airport.

Police in the UK are only allowed guns in special cases. Our police death count is very low.

I do understand the differences in our history but the thought that any of my neighbours could own a gun is to me, scary.

I wish you a good resolution to the current debate. This will certainly concentrate the minds.

Pro Obama camp will rejoice in his bravery. The Anti Obama camp will have more amunition as to his committment to American freedom.

It makes for an interesting time in the USA as this is one of those BIG decisions that governments prefer to dodge.

Hello Roger

The same reaction you have to your neighbor having a gun is the same reaction we want potential home invaders to have. A home invaders is not likely to try to invade a home if he/she thinks there is a gun behind that door, don't you think.

It will not be bravery on O'bummer's part if he puts in laws that make Democrats happy. This is his last term and he has nothing to lose. He is already hated by half the population so what's the difference if that hatred is intensified a bit. Also watch the snake sneak in another Executive Order.
