The Worth of a Soul

By Rev. Dean Beaty 5/8/12

Mark 8:36-37 “For what shall it profit a man, if he

shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul?

Or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul? (KJV)

What shall a man give for his soul,

If the world’s wealth, you owned the whole?

It would not be worth a cent,

Nor on your debt make a dent.

Christ’s blood puts our name on God’s role.

No man has the power to cleanse sin.

No work of our own to enter in.

Christ’s blood must be applied

For God to be satisfied.

By faith in Christ alone we’re born again.

Christ is the Savior of men.

He knocks at your door to come in. (Revelation 3:20)

You must open the door.

He may not call anymore.

He wants to cleanse all from their sin.

The soul is our most valuable thing.

Whether a pauper or king.

Christ died for our soul.

By His blood we’re made whole.

For that we shall praise Him and sing.

Apron Strings

By Rev. Dean Beaty 5/13/12

Proverbs 31:28 “Her children arise up, and call her

blessed; her husband also, and he praiseth her.” (KJV)

The symbol of love is a heart

Should not an apron have its part?

An apron reminds me of mother’s care,

Although today it’s very rare.

Worn with pride at every meal.

Oh the sacrifice it did reveal.

Every meal was a delight,

For she knew how make them right.

Her apron wiped the tears away.

She shook it high to call from play.

It cleaned with vigor a dirty face

And proudly worn when we said grace.

Aprons were good to hide behind.

It always brought us peace of mind.

Aprons are good for cleaning ears

Or wiping eyes when there were tears.

When meals are no longer made by hand,

How long will the family stand.

So much love is missing today

Because the apron has gone away.

Prone to Wander

By Rev. Dean Beaty 5/30/12

Luke 15:4 “What man of you, having an hundred sheep, if he lose

one of them, doth not leave the ninety and nine in the wilderness,

and go after that which is lost, until he find it?” (KJV)

God has promised that He’d guide us as we walk this pilgrim way.

But the problem that arises is how oft we go astray.

Like the lamb that did not follow as the rest went to the fold,

All alone he went his way, now he’s lost out in the cold.

The Good Shepherd, not contented with the ninety-nine He had,

Left them safe within the fold to search for one that had been bad.

Though it strayed and did not follow, still that lamb was His delight,

He would search until He found it, even in the dark of night.

The Lord will search until He finds His own child that went astray.

For God remember what He said, that our feet are made of clay.

Have you wandered from the path where the Shepherd leads His own?

As He calls you to return, don’t retain a heart of stone.

“O to grace how great a debtor, daily I’m constrained to be!

Let Thy goodness, like a fetter, bind my wandering heart to Thee.

Prone to wander, Lord, I feel it.
Prone to leave the God I love.

Here’s my heart, O take and seal it,
seal it for Thy courts above.”

Come Thou Fount of Every Blessing” by Robert Robinson 1757 at age 22

Luke 15:5-7 “And when he hath found it, he layeth it on his shoulders, rejoicing.

And when he cometh home, he calleth together his friends and neighbours, saying

unto them, Rejoice with me; for I have found my sheep which was lost. I say unto

you, that likewise joy shall be in heaven over one sinner that repenteth, more than

over ninety and nine just persons, which needno repentance.” (KJV)
