Hello everyone, hope you all are having a great day. There are many families touched by the heart breaking disease of Alzheimer's. As most of you know, I am a native Tennessean and when living there I kept up with most of the University Of Tennessee sports and that included women's basketball. The coach of this great team was Pat Head Summit, also a native Tennessean but she was diagnosed with Alzheimer's last year and came out and made it very public. Pat has gotten lots of support from not only her fans but many others too. Well yesterday she announced she is stepping down as head coach and thus ends a glorious era. In her 38 years as head coach there was never a hint of scandal at anytime, just the opposite. Pat is the all time winningest coach in either men or women's basketball and she is going to be missed.

Hi Evelyn,

Sorry to hear of her illness, but a beautiful way to retire with honor. Pat can be proud of all the things she has done in her 38 years as head coach.

Hello Evelyn,

She is a legend in her own time in Tennessee and Cheatham County,TN. I am sad to here the time has come. Many may know I too, am a Tennessean, always will be at heart. I went to high school with Pat, yep, I call her Pat because I knew her and her family well. Even visited with her family last year when I was home to care for mom. They said then she was going to coach as long as she could and it looked good for a few more years. I guess the disease works quicker than thought.

I even played a game of b-ball with Pat a time or two on pickup games at the park in AC and Cheap Hill. She made her mark on many of us for sure. What is truly sad about all this is she will not remember all the lives she touched and the times that were had.

Hello Mary Evelyn and all!
U.S. scientists
claim that learning of foreign language reduces the risk of developing Alzheimer's.
I'll look for the link and send one later if it's interesting.
