Mike I think your idea of a recycle program is great. Why don't you set it up and we can all help get the word out.

Hello Mike

If you lived near me I could give you a keyboard. I bet there are some who live around you who recently got a new computer and they probably got a new keyboard with it and would be happy to give you their old one. Some of the old ones are better than the new ones.

Just planting an idea....

10_1_136.gifThank you Myrna,
I have also just learned that my question mark is no longer working on my keyboard. I don't have my capital p either. That's going to cause problems because I p a lot. Once I'm able to find another keyboard (which I can't afford right now) I should be able to get some more videos up.
GOD BLESS YOU

10_1_136.gifThank you Helen. We had two extra keyboards that worked fine, but on two occasions we had friends that needed one, so we gave them to them. It wouldn't bother me so much, but I download a lot of videos as I promote singers and now I won't be able to. I will be requesting one at Indy Recycle. I'm not sure if you have this in Canada, however there is a recycle program on the internet. If you have something that is still in working order, rather then throwing it in the trash you offer it to someone that can use it. Also, if you need something, you post what you need and if someone has it they get in touch with you. There are a few states that are in this program so it is narrowed down to states, and then regions such as Indianapolis North side, South side, ect. Actually, it would be nice if there could be a program like that in Adlandpro Community such as a Recycle forum with threads for each state, and then expand that to Canada, England, Australia, and so forth, having people from each country helping by co-ordinating areas, provinces, parishes, and so forth. Imagine if we could develop a program like that By the end of 2012 we could boast as being the only online community that did our part in solving at least some of the growing waste problems in the world by sharing our unwanted items with (friends that are in need of those items) and as we would be focusing our offered items and wanted items in a local format we would also get to meet our friends face to face.
GOD BLESS YOU

10_1_136.gifThank you Mary Evelyn,
The one in existence is called Freecycle, therefore that name is out. I can set up the basic ideas for it, but I would need to find an appropriate name. The reason that I thought of it is because we have a lot of wonderful people in AdlandPro Community that would be any to glad to help if they could but distance does get in the way. Also, it would be a wonderful way for a lot of people to have an excuse to meet their online friends in person. I believe the name would have to be unique and pertain to our community. Something like AdlandPro Community Helpline. Perhaps that is to long. Trash to Treasure? I'm not sure. Notice the question mark? Shirley is still not feeling that well, but when I told her the problems I was having she came on and did something. I don't know what, but it worked. Maybe that's why she picked me up, turned me upside down and started shaking me. The keyboard is over twelve years old so I believe I will be having more problems with it. I sure hope you make POTTY OF THE YEAR. I mean POTY.
GOD BLESS YOU

Great Mike, so now we just need to find a name for this new project.

So everyone, let's put on our thinking caps and see what we can come up with. If you think of something, post it here and then we'll let Mike decide which one he likes best.

My suggestion is "Community Recycle" but I'm sure someone can come up with other suggestions too. I hope so because that will make it more fun if there is a list to choose from, not to mention interesting. :)

Hi Guys and Gals,
It's been awhile since I was last in here.

I am glad to read that I am not the only messy person who eats and drinks around my keyboard.
I have to turn it upside down to shake about once per week. But what I have the most difficulty with, is the dusty dirt that builds up around the keys from perspiration on my fingers or condensation. The sides of the keys are real hard to clean. I remember I use to have to clean my typewriter keys in the good ole days, but that was so much easier as they were open whereby the keys on the keyboard are enclosed.

Kathleen I can attest to the fact that a lot of debris gets in the keyboard and I turn mine upside down and beat on the back of it quite often and it is amazing what comes out. Guess I'm just messy and I do eat some of my meals while seated at the computer and I drink coffee all day here too. :) My biggest problem is wearing the white lettering off the keys from using it so much. Don't know if there would be a solution for that.

Hi Mike and Evelyn, Myrna, Helen and Everyone:

I've heard if you turn the keyboard upside-down and shake it, sometimes that helps unstick the keys...lots of debris gets in there, especially if we eat at the desk.

Hello Mike,
We do a lot of our shopping and listing of surplus on Craigslist because it is the biggest free online listing. Look under Free and you will be surprised at what people are giving away and you can also put in your own free ad for a keyboard in the wanted section.
You would probably have other free classifieds in your area too or maybe farmers markets - maybe a note at some of your local shops with a bulletin board.

Hi Evelyn, Kathleen, Mike & Shirley, Amanda and everyone!

I have been thinking of ways to re-label the keys of my keyboard as the letters are wearing off like yours, Evelyn. The old keyboards didn't do that.

Here's what I plan to do. I will go to the Dollar Store and buy some self-adhesive labels. Then I will cut them into little squares and write one of the letters on each square. Maybe I will write the letters first. While at the Dollar Store, I will have also bought a clear roll of what they used to call Mac Tac. I will put the clear stuff on top of the letters I made to keep the paper from getting grimey. I will stick these letters (cut to size) on each of my keys. It will be a bit time-consuming but there will be a sense of accomplishment, too. I'm sure people will think of variations of this idea which is good. How about painting the letters with clear nail polish instead of using the clear 'MacTac'?
