Hi Helen, He's lucky he didnt' get hurt, I've heard airbags can cause injuries, I know someone who got a sprained arm from an airbag.. Before airbags, people were told to drive with their hands at the 10 and 2 positions (as on a clock) and now told to drive with hands at 4 and 8, on the lower half of the steering wheel, to avoid serious arm injury if the airbag is deployed. I try avoid all injuries by driving with one thumb at the 6, and get annoyed if there's traffic or I have to make a turn and use an entire hand or both. (joking? i try to avoid traffic in general) At least the imaginary clock on the steering wheel doesn't go thru any pesky one-hour-time-changes in spring & autumn! :)
