RE: Mary Evelyn's Koffee Klatch

Hi Stan, the reason there are already 126 pages is because of everyone sharing their stories and etc. and so lengthy is good. :) The reason I started this thread was for people to have a place to share whatever they wanted to share so please feel free to do so.

You already have 126 pages and if I started telling you about all the places I have lived I'm pretty sure this thread would become quite lengthy. My father has always been nomadic so I lived in a half dozen different cities before I started kindergarten, but after my parents divorced I lived in the same city in Nebraska with my grandparents for about eight years. That was the longest length of time I have ever lived anywhere.

Jumping ahead a few years I joined the U.S. Army and started my own nomadic life. I was in Alabama, Texas, Germany, Texas, South Korea, Georgia, Kansas and then back to back tours in Germany. I was deployed from Germany to Bosnia twice and Kosovo once, but that doesn't even come close to explaining my final four years where I was on an inspection team that traveled all over Europe between 240 & 270 days a year.

I met my wife in Germany and after I retired we tried living in the U.S., but I had seriously underestimated my wife's ability to move so far away from her life long friends and family so we are living in Germany again.

Together we have six kids, but only the youngest three are still living at home. Thankfully, it is only the three because they keep me plenty busy while my wife works as a Breast Care Nurse (I don't think they have them in the U.S.). Basically she is an RN with special training for treating women with breast cancer.

So there are a few of the highlights...

Hi Myrna, wasn't the Carol Burnette show a wonderful show? And it was people like Tim Conway and Harvey Korman that helped make it such a great and funny show. So many hilarious scenes and yet never vulgar or x rated language and even the kids could watch. When the networks lowered their standards to permit anything goes, we all lost big time.

Hi Evelyn and friends,

I thought I would let you with a laugh or too.

Stan it would be great if you would post some pictures for us. I'm sure they would be very interesting. I'm sure I wont be the only one watching for them. :)

Hi Amanda,

I'll try to post some pictures when I have some more time. This morning I need to shovel snow and split some more firewood after I walk our dog.

THANK YOU MARK, if not for your generosity in making the graphic, my front page would still be plain. It is sincerely appreciated. :)

I think Roger had a learning forum at one time Mark, if I'm not mistaken. So Roger, if you still have that particular forum could you give us the link?

Just a moment of your time please.
Love the new look of your opening page, what a great idea......

Good Morning,

I have been seeing a lot of new members and some of the others that have been here for a while having trouble or just need a little refresher on functions, settings, profiles, signature links, banners, image displays, uploads, and everything else that is available here on Adland.

I know Sara had a pretty good forum learning center that I know helped me when I first got back to active member but that is gone now.

So if anyone has a learning forum that I am not aware of please let me know or send me a link to pass on. If it is not available then we have to get one together.

Please let me know your thoughts and comments and that this has even been read.

Thank you

Mark Dewey

One other thing about forums, if I may.

There are two many forums that are not active, two many that have been forgotten, two many that are no longer valid, and two many that do not have enough information on them. It may be a how to Adland, but missing too much or can't post in it.

Like this one below. If they are not active and no longer any good then why not delete them from even showing up. Also people are putting up forums that have no threads in them as maybe not knowing what to do next.

Helen thanks for sharing this profound video. No, I can't imagine living to be that age but what came to mind as I watched this extraordinary lady is the Lord probably lets her live so long is because of the story she has to tell. The story of the Holocaust is not being taught in the schools anymore and there are those who deny it ever happened and here we have it straight from someone who lived through it. A very touching video in more ways than one. Again, thanks for sharing it.

Hi Everyone

Imagine being 108 years old still walking and talking and playing the piano!!

Even if it were possible for me, I don't think I would like it with the way the world is going. I'd probably have to wear a burqa by then just to stay alive.
