Chapter Thirteen: On the Order 28

The Founding Master said, “In any undertaking, there are three reasons for failure. The first is wishing to attain great success quickly without working hard. The second is managing things recklessly without understanding what is essential and ancillary, or without keeping track of the proper sequence. The third is being hindered by insignificant failures or successes before coming to the end of the work, ultimately setting oneself up for a big failure. Those who are active in any kind of undertaking must always be cautious of these three points.”
