A garden revisited

ACCIDENT OR DESIGN?

Twenty years ago I designed some areas of a garden here in England.

Recently I was invited back to see the garden and its maturity.

Some things have grown, some died and others replaced BUT it's really as I planned it to be. A few trees were lost in the great storm a few years ago but it actually improved the light.

Over the next week share my discoveries, triumphs and disappointments. These are always the lot of the gardener.

I have designed this so that I can answer questions in the forum as usual BUT I have reserved the first six pages for presentation.

Remember to come back to the first few pages for updates.

Enjoy

Yes, twenty years ago I was approached to redesign aspects of an old garden sympathetically. I undertook changes in levels and sensitive dressing of cottage walls.

I was recently invited, by the new owners, to revisit and see the mature garden.

I was pleased with some of the plant combinations still in place.

I am so lucky to have worked with such lovely properties and sites.

I hope that you will share my journey?

Here is a plant combination that I am still very happy with.

Hemerocallis (day lily) with a beautiful dark-leaved Viburnum

Pink Armeria (Thrift) with a perennial white chrysanthemum.

A view down three terraces

A cross route

Sunlight through Smoke Tree leaves.

Happy accident

These are very old weathered bricks. Some pointing needs replacing but still in good order.
