RE: A RUSSIAN MODERN MYSTIC - NICHOLAS ROERICH

Dear friends and visitors,

It seems there is no scarcity of videos featuring Nicholas Roerich's art. Thanks to Sara, so far twe have been able to view two. One remarkable feature in these is the music, most relaxing and of a cosmic character.

Here are three other videos contributed by Myrna on NewAgeU. Really hard to chose which is the best one among them. The music in the second video, also of a cosmic character, sounds like it was sung in the beginning of time. If I am not mistaken, the musical background in the third one, presenting the Nicholas Roerich Museum in Himachal Pradesh, India, features beautiful magical airs of Hindu raga played in a sitar and tabla for an exotic counterpoint.

Enjoy the experience. Thank you,

Luis Miguel Goitizolo

Dear Miguel,

Please forgive me for being excited over this great artist and the music it has stimulated in videos.

I just realized I posted some in another one of your forums and it should have gone here. I found the musician and love his music, Frank Perry.

I will refrain from posting anymore and just enjoying what you and others post. You have some wonderful (still) pictures here.

Thank you for all the great work you do.

Blessings,

Sara

Hi Luis Miguel,

I hadn't heard of Roerich before, thanks for this feature!

I really like the colors in "Visitors From Overseas" and the reflection in the water, that's a fantastically detailed painting. I also really like the mountain paintings, realistic without being overdone.

Dear Sara,

I have been trying to find that video to no avail. Was it here in one of my forums in Adland that you posted it, or maybe on NewAgeYou? Have you deleted it? Even so, I don't see why you should abstain from posting here. Among my friends and visitors at this forum, I cannot think of a more qualified one than you to post.

This said, here is a curiosity since it was painted in oil, which Nicholas Roerinch hardly ever used. I have just found it in his official gallery and wanted to dedicate it to you.

Love and Best Wishes,

Miguel

Hi Kathleen,

Welcome back to my forum, and thanks for posting. I agree with you, "Visitors from Overseas" is extraordinary and the colors are great. It was my second best choice to feature before I decided on "Kalki Avatar". I also loved the colors and the reflection in the water, a great accomplishment for the animation it gives to the painting. However, it is not really representative of Nicholas Roerich's works, where the predominant themes are rather mountains and mysticism.

Here are two more oddities in his painting, the first one not only for its subject (war) but also because it is an oil painting. And the second one is a curiosity because in spite of it being an exotic locale that is portrayed, you don't see any mountains or even a little vegetation in it. However, it conveys a rare feeling of peace to the viewer precisely by reason of its dominant straight lines - apart from the beautiful, neat sky, that is.

Thanks again,

Luis Miguel Goitizolo
