Hi Luis Miguel, I hadn't heard of Roerich before, thanks for this feature! I really like the colors in "Visitors From Overseas" and the reflection in the water, that's a fantastically detailed painting. I also really like the mountain paintings, realistic without being overdone.
Hi Kathleen,
Welcome back to my forum, and thanks for posting. I agree with you, "Visitors from Overseas" is extraordinary and the colors are great. It was my second best choice to feature before I decided on "Kalki Avatar". I also loved the colors and the reflection in the water, a great accomplishment for the animation it gives to the painting. However, it is not really representative of Nicholas Roerich's works, where the predominant themes are rather mountains and mysticism.
Here are two more oddities in his painting, the first one not only for its subject (war) but also because it is an oil painting. And the second one is a curiosity because in spite of it being an exotic locale that is portrayed, you don't see any mountains or even a little vegetation in it. However, it conveys a rare feeling of peace to the viewer precisely by reason of its dominant straight lines - apart from the beautiful, neat sky, that is.
Thanks again,
Luis Miguel Goitizolo
