One of God’s Lambs
By Rev. Dean Beaty 9/12/10
Luke 18:16-17 “But Jesus called them unto him, and said,
Suffer little children to come unto me, and forbid them not:
for of such is the kingdom of God. Verily I say unto you,
Whosoever shall not receive the kingdom of God as a little
child shall in no wise enter therein.”
One of His lambs God’s given me.
What kind of steward will I be?
Will I just leave it on it’s own,
Or guide it to its Father’s throne?
As God’s steward and shepherd now,
Not any harm must I allow.
I must keep it safe from harm.
Someday return it to God’s arms.
This tender lamb within my care,
Belongs to God who placed it there.
Will it be lost to hungry prey?
Or from neglect wander astray?
It has no strength in self-defense,
And early on, no common sense.
That’s why the Lord entrusted me,
That I its care might oversee.
This lamb from God is in my care.
His safe return is my welfare.
God, give me wisdom from above,
That I might guide it with Thy love.
I Peter 5:2-3 “Feed the flock of God which is among you,
taking the oversight thereof, not by constraint, but willingly;
not for filthy lucre, but of a ready mind; Neither as being lords
over God's heritage, but being ensamples to the flock.” (KJV)
(This is of course speaking to God’s under-shepherds, the
pastors. But I feel there is also an application to parents}
