By Ian Traynor, Europe editor, The Guardian- April 24. 2013

http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/2013/apr/24/trust-eu-falls-record-low

Public confidence in the European Union has fallen to historically low levels in the six biggest EU countries, raising fundamental questions about its democratic legitimacy more than three years into the union’s worst ever crisis, new data shows.

After financial, currency and debt crises, wrenching budget and spending cuts, rich nations’ bailouts of the poor, and surrenders of sovereign powers over policymaking to international technocrats, Euroscepticism is soaring to a degree that is likely to feed populist anti-EU politics and frustrate European leaders’ efforts to arrest the collapse in support for their project.

Figures from Eurobarometer, the EU’s polling organisation, analysed by the European Council on Foreign Relations (ECFR), a thinktank, show a vertiginous decline in trust in the EU in countries such as Spain, Germany and Italy that are historically very pro-European.

The six countries surveyed – Germany, France, Britain, Italy, Spain, and Poland – are the EU’s biggest, jointly making up more than two out of three EU citizens or around 350 million of the EU’s 500 million population.

The findings, published exclusively in the Guardian in Britain and in collaboration with other leading newspapers in the other five countries, represent a nightmare for Europe’s leaders, whether in the wealthy north or in the bailout-battered south, suggesting a much bigger crisis of political and democratic legitimacy.

“The damage is so deep that it does not matter whether you come from a creditor, debtor country, euro would-be member or the UK: everybody is worse off,” said José Ignacio Torreblanca, head of the ECFR’s Madrid office. “Citizens now think that their national democracy is being subverted by the way the euro crisis is conducted.”

EU leaders are aware of the problem, utterly at odds over what to do about it, and have yet to come up with any coherent policy proposals addressing the mismatch between the pooling of economic and fiscal powers and the democratic mandate deemed necessary to underpin such radical policy shifts.

José Manuel Barroso, the European commission president, said on Tuesdaythis week the European “dream” was under threat from a “resurgence of populism and nationalism” across the EU. “At a time when so many Europeans are faced with unemployment, uncertainty and growing inequality, a sort of ‘European fatigue’ has set in, coupled with a lack of understanding. Who does what, who decides what, who controls whom and what? And where are we heading to?”

The most dramatic fall in faith in the EU has occurred in Spain, where the banking and housing market collapse, eurozone bailout and runaway unemployment have combined to produce 72% “tending not to trust” the EU, with only 20% “tending to trust”.

The data compares trust and mistrust in the EU at the end of last year with levels in 2007, before the financial crisis, to reveal a precipitate fall in support for the EU of the kind that is common in Britain but is much more rarely seen on the continent.

In Spain, trust in the EU fell from 65% to 20% over the five-year period while mistrust soared to 72% from 23%.

In five of the six countries, including Britain, mistrust prevailed over trust by sizeable margins, whereas in 2007 – with the exception of the UK – the opposite was the case.

Five years ago, 56% of Germans “tended to trust” the EU, whereas 59% now “tend to mistrust”. In France, mistrust has risen from 41% to 56%. In Italy, where public confidence in Europe has traditionally been higher than in the national political class, mistrust of the EU has almost doubled from 28% to 53%.

Even in Poland, which enthusiastically joined the EU less than a decade ago and is the single biggest beneficiary from the transfers of tens of billions of euros from Brussels, support has plummeted from 68% to 48%, although it remains the sole country surveyed where more people trust than mistrust the union.

In Britain, where Eurobarometer regularly finds majority Euroscepticism, the mistrust grew from 49% to 69%, the highest level with the exception of the extraordinary turnaround in Spain.

A separate, more detailed study published this week on the impact of the currency and debt crisis and the austerity policies that have followed also found steep falls across the EU in faith in democracy and national political elites.

The study for the Cabinet Office by the European Social Survey, linking university researchers across the EU, found that soaring unemployment, anxiety and insecurity had eroded faith in politics.

“Overall levels of political trust and satisfaction with democracy [declined] across much of Europe, but this varied markedly between countries. It was significant in Britain, Belgium, Denmark and Finland, particularly notable in France, Ireland, Slovenia and Spain, and reached truly alarming proportions in the case of Greece,” it said.

The financial crisis “not only eroded the objective economic conditions of many citizens, but also created widespread anxiety about a country’s future even among those who did not experience hardship directly”.

Faced with this erosion of political support and the battering traditional politics is taking from populist newcomers such as Beppe Grillo’s Five Star movement in Italy, policymakers appear at a loss.

On Monday, Barroso said the austerity policies being applied, mainly under pressure from Berlin, had reached the “limits of political and social acceptance” and were “unsustainable” in their current form. On Tuesday, though, the commission in Brussels sought to row back on his remarks.

Within the eurozone, the key response to the crisis, apart from bailouts, has been to embark on a systematic surrender of budgetary and fiscal powers from national governments and parliaments to Brussels, as well as having countries being bailed out overseen by a “troika” of technocrats and economists from the commission, the European Central Bank and the International Monetary Fund. These are “federalising” steps in a long process of eurozone integration that might see it transformed from a currency into a political union.

“The EU has hit home and is here to stay as a watchdog of budgets, labour markets, pensions etc. This is unprecedented, and risky,” said Torreblanca. “Unless it is fixed, it will feed the vicious circle between anti-EU populism and technocracy which we are currently seeing operating.”

Barroso argued strongly in two speeches this week that federalism was the only answer to Europe’s crisis of finances and of confidence. The German chancellor, Angela Merkel, brushing off widespread fears of a new German “hegemony” in Europe and the eurozone, also said that governments had to give up much more power to Brussels.

“We still haven’t found the answer to the question of whether we’re actually now prepared to unite on common economic parameters inside the single currency area,” she said in a Berlin debate with the Polish prime minister, Donald Tusk. “If we want to have a common currency, a common Europe, we have to be ready to give up our hard-won habits … That means we have to be prepared to accept that in the end Europe has the final word in certain things. Otherwise we can’t keep on building this Europe … To an extent, we have to jump over our own shadows. I’m ready for that.”

But Tusk delivered an unusually stark warning that German prescriptions could bring increasing nationalism and populism across the EU in a backlash that was already well under way.

“We can’t escape this dilemma: how do you get a new model of sovereignty so that limited national sovereignty in the EU is not dominated by the biggest countries like Germany, for example,” he said pointedly. “Under the surface, this fear will be everywhere: in Warsaw, in Athens, in Stockholm. It will be everywhere without exception.”

Aart de Geus, head of the Bertelsmann Stiftung, a German thinktank, also warned that the drive to surrender more key national powers to Brussels would backfire. “Public support for the EU has been falling since 2007. So it is risky to go for federalism as it can cause a backlash and unleash greater populism.”

Government Admits Using ‘Professional Actors’ to Play the Role of Victims in Terror Drills

Sandy Hook actor “Robbie Parker” at work with his co-star

Sandy Hook actor “Robbie Parker” on a break

When we say the lamestream news is a bunch of theater, we’re speaking literally.

Makes me wonder how these actors sleep at night. Aiding and abetting the feds in deceiving The People is treason, isn’t it?

Just out of curiosity I Googled “treason”. “Treason can also be aiding the enemies of your own country.”

So, the ones who perpetrate these terror attacks are murdering The People of The Republic of the Unites States of America and are our enemies, and anyone who assists them and plays a role is complicit, are they not? I sure wouldn’t want that on MY conscience.

Great sleuthing, Mike! The lamestream corporate media creates a fairy-tale world and many of The People are only too happy to live in it.

I think the agenda of the Illuminati is all too clear to anyone who’s awake today.

(NaturalNews) The U.S. government has, since at least 2004, used “professional actors” to depict victims in terror drills that simulate large-scale attacks.

According to this ABC News article from 2004, “professional actors will play the roles of victims.” In addition, a “virtual news network” will be created an operated in order to practice the dissemination of government propaganda during the event.

The use of “professional actors” to depict victims is especially telling, given that many Americans believe the government has used professional actors in events like Sandy Hook and the Boston marathon.

This analysis of the Boston marathon bombing claims a double amputee was an actor and that the blood on the scene was “Hollywood blood” designed to look bright red for the cameras. (Real blood is much darker…)

University professor James Tracy also argues that the Boston marathon bombing was pulled off with theatrical elements and wasn’t accurately portrayed in the media.

On the Sandy Hook side, many people say the “parent” Robbie Parker was an actor. This video appears to show him laughing and smiling while off camera, then magically transforming into a sad, tearful father once the cameras start rolling:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cKWgCRBR5qE

Here’s another compilation video showing Sandy Hook actors:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8_b9hh2lp3I

Regardless of whether you believe professional actors were involved in Sandy Hook or the Boston marathon bombing, the U.S. government openly admits they have used professional actors in nationwide terror drills.

Here’s another announcement from 2003 which also says:

Volunteers and professional actors will play the roles of victims, who will be rescued, diagnosed, decontaminated and treated.

Actors used to augment the propaganda

The use of professional actors doesn’t mean real people weren’t harmed or even killed in the staged attack. It only means that the actors are selected to appear on camera and give carefully rehearsed “testimony” that achieves the desired political goal of the event.

Sandy Hook, for example, was designed specifically to demonize all gun owners in America and ultimately repeal the Second Amendment. Because such a goal can never be achieved through reason and rational thinking, the strategy involved invoking raw emotion through the use of professional actors who played the role of bereaved parents.

In this way, professional actors are used to augment the propaganda, making sure the post-event news coverage delivers the desired message to the masses.

For example, the post-9/11 message under the Bush administration was that “America should give up its liberties to stop terrorism.” This message, propagandized through a number of theatrical events (such as the demolition of WTC building 7), was engineered to lead to the passage of the Patriot Act and the creation of the Department of Homeland Security. Yes, the DHS that still haunts us today was the spawned hellchild of 9/11 theatrics.

Flipping the script

Every false flag event in recent memory has been accompanied by a staged drill. In the middle of the drill, an actual bombing or other attack is carried out, and the script is suddenly flipped from a “drill” to a “terror attack.” All the assets that were set up for the drill — law enforcement presence, bomb-sniffing dogs and professional actors playing victims — suddenly become key elements in the national news broadcasts covering the “real” terrorist attack.

The drill-false-flag format is highly effective because patsies who are going to be blamed for the event are simply told, “You’re participating in a drill.” This is likely what happened to the two brothers accused of carrying out the Boston marathon bombings. Evidence clearly points to the possibility that they were FBI assets who were likely told they were taking part in a “drill.” We have already established that local law enforcement was informed of the existence of a drill… and that they shared this information with some participants in the marathon.

Even where drills aren’t used as a backdrop for carrying out staged false flag events, the drills still have the effect of indoctrinating the local populace to a police state presence. They get people used to seeing militarized goons running around pulling innocent people out of their homes in total violation of the Fourth Amendment.

It also gives the FBI insight on how local law enforcement will react to the terror plots actually being staged by the FBI itself. This is invaluable information necessary for formulating yet more domestic terror plots in order to keep the population in a never-ending state of unbridled fear and government obedience.

Whatever happens in the months ahead, just remember thegovernment has already admitted, “professional actors will play the roles of victims.”

Yeah, we know.

Glenn Beck conspiracy theory: What's his evidence?

Glenn Beck conspiracy theory: A Saudi national was involved in the Boston Marathon attack, Glenn Beck alleges. US officials reject the notion and dismiss the 'evidence' as so much bureaucratic paperwork.

Reuters/Reuters - Commentator Glenn Beck arrives at the 45th Country Music Association Awards in Nashville, Tennessee November 9, 2011. REUTERS/Harrison McClary (UNITED STATES - Tags: ENTERTAINMENT HEADSHOT MEDIA) - RTR2TSW6

Glenn Beck has spent lots of time in recent days alleging that the Boston Marathon bombing was carried out by a conspiracy that revolved around a shadowy Saudi national questioned by police in a Boston hospital in the immediate aftermath of the tragedy.

OK, is he just winging it here, or does the ex-Fox, now-independent radio and Internet video host have any real evidence for this charge?

He says he does, unsurprisingly. On his show Wednesday morning Mr. Beck produced a document that he claimed is an official US “event report” showing that the Saudi in question is a bad, bad man who was on a no-fly list and already subject to visa revocation.

RECOMMENDED: Quiz: How much do you know about terrorism?

What he didn’t mention is that Fox News reporter Bret Baier has already looked into this whole alleged Saudi conspiracy, including the document Beck deemed so revealing, and concluded that there was no there there, to paraphrase writer Gertrude Stein’s jibe aboutOakland.

It’s “false and misleading” to use the internal document on the Saudi’s immigration status as evidence of the man’s involvement in the bombings, according to US officials quoted by Mr. Baier in a Fox video blog on April 23.

“The FBI says the Saudi [in question] was just a victim of the terrorist attack,” said Baier.

OK, let’s rewind a bit to clarify this, shall we?

In the immediate aftermath of the Boston tragedy, many media outlets reported that law enforcement officials were interrogating an injured Saudi man who had been seen running from the site of the bombs. Authorities that evening searched his residence in suburban Revere.

Officials later reported that this Saudi was a student and an innocent spectator who had been injured by the blasts and was trying to escape along with many other people on the Marathon route.

Although the man’s name has been reported by some media outlets, Decoder won’t be using it, so as to not further publicize the identity of someone police say did nothing wrong.

Since then Glenn Beck has continued to link the Saudi to the bombing and to terrorism in general. He has charged that the man was in the US on a student visa that had expired and that he will be deported by US immigration for security reasons. He has gone so far as to speculate that a Saudi national may have been an Al Qaeda control agent who recruited the Tsarnaev brothers to carry out the Boston attacks.

Then on Wednesday Beck dropped his other shoe, revealing what he said was important new evidence in the case.

Beck said he had received a document he called a 212 3(B) report, named after its reference in thePatriot Act. The document said that a Saudi national with the same name as the person questioned in the hours after the bombing is an “exact match” to someone on a no-fly list and that derogatory information on him is “sufficient to request visa revocation.”

A copy of the alleged document posted online by Beck’s web site The Blaze also noted that the person in question “has One (1) prior event,” though there was no indication what, or how serious, that event was.

Wow, I mean, this does not look good, does it? Twitter has exploded with comments about how important this is, and how it presages the exposure of the conspiracy, which probably involves everyone up to the level of the Oval Office, and perhaps beyond.

But Bret Baier had this piece of paper already. On Tuesday, he talked with US officials about it, and got a different story.

First off, Baier said the wording of the paper was indeed somewhat dire.

“Anyone looking at this would say this is a bad guy, this means they had a lot of stuff on this guy,” he said.

But officials told him it was simply an automatic piece of customs paperwork triggered when police went to question the Saudi in the hours after the bombing.

To make sure he did not somehow get on an airplane before they could talk to him, they put him on a no-fly list. That automatically meant he was subject to visa revocation. The other language, including the reference to an “event,” followed from that.

“Also keep in mind, it’s just … a customs and border control document…. It’s not indicative of any investigative information,” said Baier.

After the FBI determined the man had no connection to the Boston crime, it took several days for the bureaucracy to scrub him out of its system. That is why the document existed for a short period of time, and why it shows evidence of officials trying to change it. But anyone searching the system for his name on the Sunday prior to the bombing would have found nothing, reported Baier, because no US government agency was looking for him.

Secretary of Homeland Security Janet Napolitano referred to all this obliquely in a Senate hearing on Tuesday.

Sen. Charles Grassley (R) of Iowa asked her, “With regard to the Saudi student, was he on a watch list?”

The Homeland Security Secretary replied that the Saudi in question had not been on a watch list prior to the bombings and was never really a person of interest in the case.

“Because he was being interviewed, he was at that point put on a watch list,” Napolitano added. “And then when it was quickly determined he had nothing to do with the bombing, the watch listing status was removed.”

As if all this weren’t complicated enough, a number of news outlets have reported that there is a second Saudi man in Boston, unrelated to the student, who was taken into custody when he showed up at a port to retrieve a package, and a routine check showed he had overstayed his visa.

That’s the Saudi who is subject to deportation. The student who was caught in the bomb blast is not.

Of course, it’s easy to point out that all this is based on the word of US officials, and that they’re eager to cover up the conspiracy, since it makes them look bad, or they are part of it, or something like that.

But that’s why conspiracy theories persist: it’s easy to dream them up, and hard to disprove them, especially to believers.

Parents say Boston suspects framed, want truth from U.S.

The parents of the alleged Boston bombers are headed to the United States.
Video: Alleged bombers' parents headed to US

By Alissa de Carbonnel

MAKHACHKALA, Russia (Reuters) - The parents of the two main suspects in the Boston bombings said on Thursday their sons had been framed and accused U.S. authorities of killing the older brother to put on a display.

Anzor Tsarnaev, the father, banged the table in anger as he announced plans to go from Russia to the United States to "find out the truth" and Zubeidat Tsarnaeva, the mother, said she had wanted to scream when she heard of her elder son's death.

She denied Tamerlan Tsarnaev, 26, had made contact with Islamist militants during a stay in Russia last year and said she was considering giving up her U.S. citizenship.

"I wanted to scream to the whole world, 'What did you do?' What have you done with my son? He was alive. Why did you need to kill him? Why didn't you send him to Guantanamo or whatever? Why? Why?," she shouted at a new conference, her voice cracking.

"It is some kind of show, spectacle," she said, adding that she wanted her son buried in Russia, where he has roots.

Wearing a black head scarf, she spoke in accented English as she maintained her belief her sons were victims of a conspiracy.

"Politics is a dirty business. I don't know in whose interest this was. I only know one thing, that my children didn't do this."

She recounted that she had called Tamerlan after the bombing and he had told her not to worry.

He was shot dead by police in a firefight four days after the bombings at the Boston Marathon which killed three people and wounded 264.

His brother Dzhokhar, 19, was captured after a manhunt. He has been charged with crimes that carry a possible death penalty and is now in hospital being treated for his wounds.

Pounding the table with his fists, Anzor Tsarnaev said: "I am going to the United States. I want to say that I am going there to see my son, to bury the older one. I don't have any bad intentions. I don't plan to blow up anything."

"I am not angry at anyone. I want to go find out the truth," said Anzor, his eyes hidden behind dark glasses.

He said he would go as soon as possible but that he had not yet bought a plane ticket.

INFLUENCE OF ETHNIC ARMENIAN EMIGRE

Anzor and Zubeidat returned last year to Russia's restive region of Dagestan, where they lived for a little over a year more than a decade ago before emigrating to the United States.

Although the brothers have roots in Dagestan and neighboring Chechnya, neither had spent much time there until Tamerlan returned last year for six months.

His parents denied he had had any contact with militants fighting to establish an Emirate in the region, saying they kept a watchful eye on him during his stay.

They said, however, that Tamerlan had frequented a mosque which is considered by local police to be a hotbed of radical Islamist ideas.

Investigators are looking into whether Tamerlan was influenced by the local Islamist militants, who are waging an insurgency against Russian rule of the North Caucasus.

Zubeidat was questioned for almost seven hours by Russia's security services on Wednesday on her son's movements during his time in Dagestan.

On another occasion, when the FBI came to question Tsarnaev in the United States in 2011, Zubeidat said they had quizzed her about his religious views.

"They told me, 'Don't you think that Tamerlan is being a little extreme about religion? Do you think he would think about organizing something, some kind of ... terrorism?," she said.

Despite the visit, she said: "I really did not see any reason for worry."

Anzor and Zubeidat said Tamerlan had been influenced by an ethnic Armenian emigre from Azerbaijan whom they knew only by the name of Misha.

"Tamerlan very much respected him for him knowing Islam... He was (saying) like, 'Mom, look at him, he prays, he is fasting all the time'," said Zubeidat, who describes herself as a devout Muslim and said she was inspired to become more religious by the man called Misha.

The family said they had met the man in the Russian-speaking diaspora in Boston in 2007.

U.S. officials have said Tamerlan became more radical from around 2009.

"I wasn't praying until he (Misha) prayed in our house, so I just got really ashamed that I am not praying, being a Muslim, being born a Muslim ... while Misha, who converted, was praying," Zubeidat said.

"When he used to come to our house, there was nothing not to like about him. (He) was very nice, very gentle," she said.
