5G, the latest and greatest method of faster wireless transmission, is coming on with a storm.

Governments are promoting it as if the future of humanity depends on it. It MUST BE implemented.

When governments and corporations see technological daylight up the road—and big money—they run toward it joined at the hip. Consequences be damned.

And now, 5G.

A few of the many corporations involved include Samsung, Intel, Qualcomm, Nokia, Huawei, Ericsson, ZTE. This is a global operation, and many governments are backing the push.

And the consumer gets what? The ability to watch the reruns of Law&Order he’s already watching? His current TV reception isn’t good enough? The appliances in his home will all be connected to Internet and talk to each other and spy on him and record his energy use, in conjunction with smart meters, for the Greater Good.

Somehow, you really need your toaster connected to the Internet? You want that? You can’t get along without that?

UNDOUBTEDLY, A KEY PART OF THE 5G PROGRAM IS, EVENTUALLY, MASSIVE NUMBERS OF DRIVERLESS CARS ON ROADS ALL OVER THE WORLD. This is the plan. Cars are connected and talk to each other. Humans play no role in this. The Technocratic Internet of Things decides how, at any given moment, to regulate traffic flows. Humans learn to be passive.

AND WITH THE INTERNET OF THINGS, THE TECHNOCRATIC ELITE WILL BE ABLE TO INSTALL ENERGY-USE QUOTAS AND CEILINGS FOR EVERY PERSON AND EXERT TOP-DOWN CONTROL ON THE PLANET.

“Mr. Jones, this is the voice of your house speaking. You have reached the assigned limit of your energy use for the month. Try to get along without energy until next month’s allotment comes online…”

At electricsense.com (5/12/17), we learn about the purported “upside” of 5G:

“5G and IoT [Internet of Things] promises to connect us in our homes, schools, workplaces, cities, parks and open spaces to over a trillion objects around the world. It promises cars that drive themselves, washing machines that order their own washing powder and softener plus of course super fast downloads and streaming.”

“According to Fortune.com 5G will support at least 100 billion devices and will be 10 to 100 times faster than current 4G technology. (4G was already about 10 times faster than 3G).”

“It’ll bring download speed up to 10 Gigabits per second. This would let us have an entire building of people send each other data in close to no time, thus improving productivity.”

Now, electricsense.com takes us into the disaster of 5G:

“5G will utilize smaller cell stations (and the technology of beamforming) that’ll scramble/unscramble and redirect packets of data on a no-interference path back to us. This could mean wireless antennas on every lamp post, utility pole, home and business throughout entire neighborhoods, towns and cities.”

“Thousands of studies link low-level wireless radio frequency radiation exposures to a long list of adverse biological effects, including:

• DNA single and double strand breaks

• oxidative damage

• disruption of cell metabolism

• increased blood brain barrier permeability

• melatonin reduction

• disruption to brain glucose metabolism

• generation of stress proteins”

“Given that 5G is set to utilize frequencies above and below existing frequency bands 5G sits in the middle of all this. But the tendency (it varies from country to country) is for 5G to utilize the higher frequency bands. Which brings its own particular concerns…”

“The biggest concern is how these new wavelengths will affect the skin. The human body has between two million to four million sweat ducts. Dr. Ben-Ishai of Hebrew University, Israel explains that our sweat ducts act like ‘an array of helical antennas when exposed to these wavelengths,’ meaning that we become more conductive. A recent New York study which experimented with 60GHz waves stated that ‘the analyses of penetration depth show that more than 90% of the transmitted power is absorbed in the epidermis and dermis layer’.”

“The effects of MMWs [millimeter waves] as studied by Dr. Yael Stein of Hebrew University is said to also cause humans physical pain as our nociceptors flare up in recognition of the wave as a damaging stimuli. So we’re looking at possibilities of many skin diseases and cancer as well as physical pain to our skin.”

China has defended its expanding role in Africa after lawmakers in Washington announced they would open an investigation into Beijing's push for economic and military influence in a number of countries there.

House Intelligence Committee Chairman Devin Nunes, a GOP representative from California, said on Fox News's Sunday Morning Futures with Maria Bartiromo that China was "a big problem" and that he and fellow Republican lawmakers were "running an investigation on many aspects of China," including allegations of intellectual property theft, currency manipulation and its "military footprint" in Africa. The following day, the Chinese Foreign Ministry denied charges of malpractice and called for cooperation rather than competition with the U.S.

"There is a Chinese saying which goes 'one's mentality will determine how he perceives the world.' There is also another proverb that [goes] 'if one suspects his neighbor of stealing his ax, all the behaviors of that innocent neighbor appear suspicious to him,' which refers to someone that harbors groundless suspicions in disregard of facts," ministry spokeswoman Hua Chunying told reporters.

"We hope that relevant people in the United States can be more open-minded, and aboveboard and refrain from viewing normal cooperation with tinted glasses or interpreting other countries' goodwill to pursue win-win outcomes with a hegemonic mindset," she added.

China has a long history of investing in African nations. In January, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi visited the continent for a five-day tour, making it the 28th year in a row a top diplomat from Beijing has chosen the continent for the first annual trip abroad. In addition to investing billions of dollars in construction, infrastructure and energy projects, China opened its first overseas military base last August in the Eastern African country of Djibouti, where the U.S. maintains its own military installation.

Hua described China's plans for Africa as "fairly simple and transparent," saying, "China welcomes African countries aboard the express train of its development and is willing to make positive contributions to promoting the peace, security, development and rejuvenation of African countries."

Around the time Wang departed for his Africa trip in January, President Donald Trump was facing a wave of criticism over alleged remarks in which he referred to African and Latin American nations as "****hole countries." The widely reported comments were derided by African leaders and, though Secretary of State Rex Tillerson attempted to defend the administration and discourage Chinese influence during his debut Africa tour earlier this month, the diplomat was fired just a couple of days into the trip.

China's military and political outreach in Africa is part of Chinese President Xi Jinping's "One Belt, One Road" initiative, which sought to establish lucrative trading routes spanning across Asia, Africa and Europe. Navy Secretary Richard V. Spencer said that China's global spending "keeps me up at night" while speaking with the House Appropriations Committee earlier this month.

As Trump rolled out steep steel and aluminum tariffs earlier this month to punish China for what he said was intellectual property theft and a large trade deficit, Beijing has pledged to "take all necessary measures" to protect its interests, sparking fears of a trade war between the world's two largest economies.

During his interview Sunday, Nunes also argued that Chinese investment "comes with a price" for African countries, claiming "they then want your vote in the United Nations." Top Washington officials and President Donald Trump himself, however, have publicly criticized nations receiving assistance for not supporting U.S. policy at the U.N., including during a vote last December to admonish the president's decision to recognize the disputed city of Jerusalem as the capital of Israel, despite Palestinian counterclaims.

U.S. ambassador to the U.N. Nikki Haley warned at the time that Trump "be watching this vote carefully and has requested I report back on those who voted against us." After losing 128-9, Trump later moved to cut support to the international body following threats that he would not let countries take "hundreds of millions of dollars and even billions of dollars" of U.S. money and then oppose him at the U.N.

China also voted against the U.S. at the time, about two weeks after Trump claimed China and Russia "challenge American power, influence and interests, attempting to erode American security and prosperity" in his "America First" National Security Review. Beijing and Moscow criticized the document, claiming it was a sign of Washington's unwillingness to cooperate with other leading powers.

On Wednesday (March 21), 17-year-old Ahed Tamimi entered Ofer military court with bright pink socks tucked underneath the metal shackles that held her feet together. In a prison-issued jacket that was too big for her, she smiled from cheek to cheek.

The Israeli judge presiding over her case accepted a plea bargain that would mean she will serve an eight month prison sentence. Her mother, Nariman Tamimi, will also serve eight months, and both must pay a fine that would total to 11,000 Israeli shekels ($3,154). Nour Tamimi, who was arrested just after Ahed, also signed a plea that includes her time served and an additional suspended sentence with a 2000 shekel ($573) fine. The average income in a Palestinian household is around 1500 shekels a month.

Wednesday was the final trip Nariman and Ahed will have to make from Hasharon prison to Ofer military court. It’s a trip that takes hours, with the prisoner shackled and seated in a small cell built into a bus filled with filth and cockroaches. That evening, however, was the first time some of Ahed’s girlfriends and cousins were able to enter her hearing, and the first time some of them have seen her in months.

If I closed my eyes and tried to block the sounds of prison guards shushing the young girls as the prosecution named the charges against the young girl, I can almost pretend they were in a small bedroom experiencing all the cliches that come with being teenagers.

While Israeli guards tried to block Ahed from the young girls’ view, they still managed to speak to Ahed in gestures and short phrases. They gossiped, poked fun at one another, updated Ahed on her loved ones and friends. The young girls were proud of themselves. It was as though they were rebelling against a system that tries so hard to strip them of their right to be absurd and young and reckless by unabashedly being the teenagers that they are, further exposing the absurdity of the court.

The accepted plea deal meant that the prosecution had most of the charges against Ahed dropped. Only four out of the original 12 charges were actually used for her conviction. More importantly, it was many of the charges that were used to deny her release on bail that were dropped. The court backed down from many of the charges they used to paint the young girl as a threat. Her father Bassem tells me "our first charge is that we are Palestinian, and the rest is just filling in the gaps."

This rings true for most Palestinians. Plea bargains are just another way for the Israeli military court to promote the image of Palestinians as threats, to force a guilty plea by any means possible. It is a large part of the 99.7 percent conviction rate for Palestinians tried in Israeli military courts.

As Ahed said during her hearing on Wednesday, “there is no justice under occupation. We are in an illegitimate court.” But when faced with the harsh reality of either serving years in a prison known for its ill treatment and human rights abuses, or a few more months, the latter becomes more appealing.

What Ahed said during her hearing exemplifies this young girl’s awareness and defiance, despite the shackles. She is well-aware that no matter what she does or says, these courts are tailored to be against her, that she can never under any circumstance gain justice in that room.

Justice for Israel has a very different meaning. In 2001, Nachum Korman, who clubbed a Palestinian child to death served eight months, the same sentence Ahed and her mother must serve for defending their home from fully armed soldiers. Ahed was armed with her voice and small arms, and her mother with a phone. More recently, Elor Aazriya, the soldier that killed Abed al-Fattah al-Sharif in Hebron, had his 18 month sentence reduced and will be released in May.

These examples showcase what Israel deems a “threat to public security,” as the judge noted of Ahed’s charges. The courts of Israel equate between a 17-year-old girl slapping a fully armed soldier who was in her home, to Israelis that have brutally killed Palestinians. A shout is equivalent to murder if the assault comes from a Palestinian.

The reality is that Israel cannot bring justice, and the comparison between how it tries Israelis opposed to Palestinians is farcical on its own. Israel is throwing a masquerade with a charlatan justice system. It switches masks as it deems fit. Criminal, judge, jury.

The Tamimi case teaches us to not expect justice from Israeli courts and that we, Palestinians, will always be seen as guilty. The essence in all of this, is not whether we are truly “guilty” or not. The legality of it has made us lose sight of the more important discourse and that is our resistance is being criminalized. We are in fact guilty. Guilty of resisting oppression, guilty of daring to dream of a dignified life, and guilty of using any means possible to live in justice—even if it’s by merely slapping and shouting. The system is built to shatter any undertaking aimed at fighting the occupation.

The endeavor was not simply for the release of the Tamimis. There are 356 minors still being held by Israel, some under administrative detention with no charges against them. The call is not to have Israel try Palestinians as it would Israelis, that still entails that they dominate our lives. The true effort is to mark the illegitimacy of these courts in its entirety, to no longer have oppressor playing justice keeper.

Ahed, Nour and Nariman’s sentencing is not over with this hearing. Just as Ahed lived her entire life under occupation, she will be released to see the soldiers invade her home again. And she will probably never be able to gain a permit to visit the cities of Haifa, Jaffa, or Safad, because the Israeli army is in control of her every move. She recognizes that while she must try to survive within the contours of oppression, true liberation and justice will only come when the occupation ends. That is when she and others in her generation will be able to live with dignity and freedom.
