John Kerry admits that Russia entered Syrian war to stop ISIS, U.S. used ISIS to pressure Assad

© Brendan Smialowski / Reuters
U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry.
Back in late September, the New York Times published an interesting piece: Audio Reveals What John Kerry Told Syrians Behind Closed Doors. (PolitRussia's Ruslan Ostashko commented on it here.) But the NYT piece left out THE most damning statements made by Kerry. The full video is below, followed by one of the biggest revelations:

26:09: "I mean, the reason Russia came in is because ISIL was getting stronger. Daesh was threatening the possibility of going to Damascus and so forth. And that's why Russia came in. Because they didn't want a Daesh government. And they supported Assad. And, and, uh, and we we know that this was growing. We were watching. We saw that, that Daesh was growing in strength. And we thought Assad wasthreatened. Uhh, we thought our, we could probably manage, uh, you know, that Assad might then negotiate. Instead of negotiating, you've got Assad and you've got Putin to support him."
So there you have it. From the horse's mouth. The U.S. knew that Russian intervention in Syria was for the EXPRESS PURPOSE of destroying ISIS and stopping them from taking control of the country. You know, 'ISIS', the mass murderers who have been slaughtering Europeans. And yet, the US responded to Russian efforts by repeatedly accusing Russia of 'killing civilians' and attempting to thwart Russian efforts at every turn.

In addition, as ISIS was getting stronger, threatening to take over Damascus, the US government sat back and did nothing in the hope that Assad would capitulate to ISIS.
Does that make ISIS effectively a proxy US military force used to overthrow a legitimate government? You bet it does. Does that mean that the US and EU governments also saw attacks by ISIS in Europe as a useful way to garner public support for US and EU military involvement in Syria to overthrow Assad? We'll leave that one up to you.

All of this also gives the lie to the scurrilous campaign of lies and disinformation waged by the US and EU governments against the Russian operation in Syria. This was a campaign that the Russians knew was coming, because U.S. "diplomats" threatened them with that very prospect (see link below)

Maria Zakharova: Obama Admin Threatened Russia Would "Feel Pain" for Intervening in Syria - Proved That Evil Is Claimed Right of Mightiest Nation

So can we expect now that all those inveterate cretin political pundits in the US and Europe who still insist that the US and its 'partners' are 'supporting democracy' in Syria will now accept the simple and long-established truth: that for the last 15 years, the cabal of psychopaths that run the USA do exactly the opposite of what they claim to do, and that they have been waging a war OF terrorism, not a war ON terrorism?

Hitler's 'Mein Kampf' becomes German bestseller

Berlin (AFP) - The first reprint of Adolf Hitler's "Mein Kampf" in Germany since World War II has proved a surprise bestseller, heading for its sixth print run, its publisher said Tuesday.

The Institute of Contemporary History of Munich (IfZ) said around 85,000 copies of the new annotated version of the Nazi leader's anti-Semitic manifesto had flown off the shelves since its release last January.

However, the respected institute said that far from promoting far-right ideology, the publication had enriched a debate on the renewed rise of "authoritarian political views" in contemporary Western society.

It had initially planned to print only 4,000 copies but boosted production immediately based on intense demand. The sixth print run will hit bookstores in late January.

The two-volume work had figured on the non-fiction bestseller list in weekly magazine Der Spiegel over much of the last year, and even topped the list for two weeks in April.

The institute also organised a successful series of presentations and debates around "Mein Kampf" across Germany and in other European cities, which it said allowed it to measure the impact of the new edition.

"It turned out that the fear the publication would promote Hitler's ideology or even make it socially acceptable and give neo-Nazis a new propaganda platform was totally unfounded," IfZ director Andreas Wirsching said in a statement.

"To the contrary, the debate about Hitler's worldview and his approach to propaganda offered a chance to look at the causes and consequences of totalitarian ideologies, at a time in which authoritarian political views and rightwing slogans are gaining ground."

- 'Not reactionaries or radicals' -

The institute said the data collected about buyers by regional bookstores showed that they tended to be "customers interested in politics and history as well as educators" and not "reactionaries or rightwing radicals".

Nevertheless, the IfZ said it would maintain a restrictive policy on international rights. For now, only English and French editions are planned despite strong interest from many countries.

The institute released the annotated version of "Mein Kampf" last January, just days after the copyright of the manifesto expired.

Bavaria was handed the rights to the book in 1945 when the Allies gave it control of the main Nazi publishing house following Hitler's defeat.

For 70 years, it refused to allow the inflammatory tract to be republished out of respect for victims of the Nazis and to prevent incitement of hatred.

But "Mein Kampf" -- which means "My Struggle" -- fell into the public domain on January 1 and the institute said it feared a version without critical commentary could hit the market.

Partly autobiographical, "Mein Kampf" outlines Hitler's ideology that formed the basis for Nazism. He wrote it in 1924 while he was imprisoned in Bavaria for treason after his failed Beer Hall Putsch.

The book set out two ideas that he put into practice as Germany's leader going into World War II: annexing neighbouring countries to gain "Lebensraum", or "living space", for Germans, and his hatred of Jews, which led to the Holocaust.

Some 12.4 million copies were published in Germany and from 1936, the Nazi state gave a copy to all newlyweds as a wedding gift.

‘Disturbing use of force’: NC officer slams high school girl (VIDEO)

Authorities in Rolesville, North Carolina are investigating an officer who was caught on tape hoisting a female high school student over his head and throwing her to the ground before picking her up and carrying her off.
An eight-second video, which has gone viral, shows School Resource Officer Ruben De Los Santos surrounded by shouting students at Rolesville High School. The officer throws one of the girls to the ground, subdues her, and walks her out of the frame.

Desiree Harrison, the student’s mother, said that her daughter had been checked out at the hospital after suffering a concussion. She said that she is an honor roll student and that she now plans to move her to another school, according to WTVD.

Wake County Public School immediately responded to the video on Twitter, thanking the person that posted it and saying they were working with local police to investigate the matter.

A statement from the school’s principal says that, after becoming aware of the incident, they contacted the local police department, which “placed the school resource officer on administrative leave and began an immediate investigation.”

The Rolesville Police Department then put out their own statement, which said that they had “officially requested that the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation conduct a third-party review of the incident.”

Officer Ruben De Los Santos has been placed on paid administrative leave pending the outcome of the investigation.

De Los Santos has been assigned to the school as a resource officer since February of 2012, according to his LinkedIn page. The Wake County Public School system uses armed police officers at every high school and most middle schools. The officers are meant to provide security, teach classes, and counsel students.

The American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) also weighed in, calling the event a “disturbing use of force” in a tweet, which also asked witnesses to come forward with any additional information.

Soon after the first video appeared, another surfaced showing the events leading up to the incident, which provided additional context.

The second video shows two girls throwing punches at one another and hitting nearby adults, ultimately fighting each other to the ground.

The person who posted the second video, Aisha Nasser, said she didn’t think De Los Santos meant any harm, according to WTVD.

“He’s one of the kindest officers I’ve ever come across,” said Nasser. “Seeing the whole situation first hand it was out of control and he was just trying to gain control of the situation and I know it wasn’t his intention to hurt that girl.”

Mayor Frank Eagles said that all officers had been issued body-cameras last August, and footage should be available soon.

"DONALD TRUMP IS MENTALLY UNSTABLE," she tweeted alongside a CNN interview with Trump biographer Harry Hurt III, who claimed the businessman kicked him off the golf course at Trump International Golf Club in West Palm Beach, Florida, last week because wasn't happy with Hurt's book. "LESS THAN 3 WEEKS TO STOP HIM AMERICA."

"TRUMP IS A CRIMINAL," she wrote in another tweet, this time linking to an article analyzing Trump's claims about saving American jobs.

Israeli Soldier Guilty of Manslaughter in Shooting of Incapacitated Palestinian Assailant

Jan 4, 2017, 6:35 AM ET

The Associated Press

WATCH Donald Trump on Twitter Goes After President Obama, US Policy on Israel

An Israeli soldier was convicted of manslaughter today in the shooting of a wounded Palestinianassailant, the first time a military court has found an Israeli Defense Forces soldier guilty of thatcrime in 11 years.

Sgt. Elor Azaria, 20, was caught on video fatally shooting a wounded Palestinian man who had stabbed an Israeli soldier in the West Bank city of Hebron last March. The Palestinian was lying motionless on the ground when Azaria shot him in the head.

Azaria smiled as he received applause upon entering the courtroom, but the proceeding grew tense as the judge, Col. Maya Heller, refuted the defense's claims that Azaria shot the assailant in self-defense.

The judge dismissed the evidence presented by the defense point-by-point, thoroughly and at great length.

After two and a half hours, Heller said that beyond a reasonable doubt, Azaria shot the Palestinian because he thought he "deserves to die."

The Associated Press

The case has deeply divided a country where military service is compulsory for the Jewish majority. Hundreds of Azaria's supporters, holding banners that read "the nation is with you," clashed with police outside the courtroom.

Azaria is expected to appeal the decision.

The Associated Press contributed to this report.
