Venezuela is on the brink of total collapse

Venezuela is on the brink of total collapse

The Marxist “paradise” once worshipped by such Hollywood naifs as Sean Penn, Oliver Stone, Danny Glover and Michael Moore is now forcing its citizens to work on neglected farms.

The celebs haven’t been singing the praises of Venezuela quite as loudly as they did when Hugo Chavez led the country until his death in 2013. For good reason — under his handpicked successor, Nicolas Maduro, things have grown far worse.

Home to the world’s worst economy, Venezuela is beset by severe food shortages, riots in the streets and hyperinflation that’s closing in on 700 percent. World oil prices have plummeted — and Venezuela relies on oil for 95 percent of its income.

Agriculture was neglected as Chavez and Maduro placed all their economic chips on crude and elected to import goods from abroad while spending on social programs that rallied the poor behind the government.

But now Venezuela has no cash to import food or other essentials. And because Chavez nationalized so much industry, it has no private sector to compensate.

So Maduro has now issued an executive decree that subjects all workers to being forced to work for 60 days (or more, “if circumstances merit”) in the fields, growing badly needed food.
Economically, the move makes no sense. Morally, it’s barely one step up from government-sanctioned slavery.

Venezuela is on the brink of total collapse. Whatever happens next won’t be pretty — and not even the country’s Hollywood fans can still sing its socialist praises.

PLAYING GOD? Tens of millions spent on huge project to change the WEATHER

A CONTROVERSIAL project costing tens of millions of pounds will attempt to change the weather.

China is trying to make it rain

China are ploughing more than £22million into shooting salt-and-mineral-filled bullets into the sky in a bid to make it rain.

But Beijing is not alone in its pursuit to play God with the weather, with at least 52 countries, including the US, using weather modification techniques which allows authorities to clear the skies or make it rain.

Droughts in places such as the the US and China are one of the biggest constraints on their farming industries, which is why scientists are working to eradicate the the prolonged dry seasons.

They will do this by putting chemicals in the sky.

Droughts are China and the US's biggest threat to their farming industries

Even in the hottest regions of the world, moisture remains in the skies.

Before it rains, the moisture particles in the air condense and cool on smaller particles like dust which is how clouds are formed.

Once enough of the particles have come together and the clouds get heavier, then it begins to rain.

However, the experts are hoping to speed up this process from the ground.

By ploughing chemicals into the clouds that will lower the temperature of the clouds which will ultimately give more material for the moisture to build on.

They hope that this will speed the process up and rain sooner.

Bart Geerts, a professor of atmospheric science at the University of Wyoming, told Business Insider that although ‘cloud-seeding’ could work, he is not completely optimistic.

Mr Geerts said: "I think the verdict is still out.”

However, he said that “even a 10 per cent increase in rainfall or snowfall may be worth the expense.”

UN seeks control of Russia escape routes from Syria's Aleppo

Aleppo (Syria) (AFP) - The UN on Friday urged Russia to give it control of humanitarian passages out of Aleppo in northern Syria where besieged residents cowered indoors afraid to use what some called "death corridors".

A monitoring group, meanwhile, reported that at least 18 civilians were killed in air strikes in the city of Aleppo and in the provincial town of Atareb.

The Britain-based charity Save the Children said a maternity hospital it supports in northwestern Idlib province was bombed Friday, killing two people and injuring babies in incubators.

Syrian regime ally Russia has said three humanitarian passages would be opened for civilians and surrendering fighters seeking to exit Aleppo's eastern districts.

Only a dozen of Aleppo residents trickled out through one passage Friday, while others wanting to flee were turned back by rebels, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights monitor said.

An AFP correspondent in east Aleppo said streets were empty with residents holed up indoors and shops shuttered.

Ahmad Ramadan from the opposition Syrian National Coalition accused Russia and the regime of forcing civilians to flee through continued bombing raids.

"Aleppo residents are calling the corridors that Russia is talking about 'death corridors'," he said.

The Britain-based Observatory said at least eight civilians were killed in regime air strikes that hit two eastern areas of Aleppo, warning the death toll could rise as more were trapped under the rubble.

It later reported unidentified air strikes on the rebel-held town of Atareb in Aleppo province that killed 10 people and wounded many other seriously, calling the raids a "new massacre".

UN envoy Staffan de Mistura said Russia, which has been carrying out air strikes alongside Syrian regime planes, should let the United Nations take charge of the corridors.

"Our suggestion is to Russia to actually leave the corridors being established at their initiative to us," he said.

"How can you expect people to want to walk through a corridor, thousands of them, while there is shelling, bombing, fighting?"

Russia's deputy defence minister, Anatoly Antonov, said Moscow was prepared "for the closest and most constructive cooperation" with the United Nations and international humanitarian organisations.

But he warned that rebels would not be allowed "to enter the city and fuel the terrorists with weapons and ammunition".

The UN says around 250,000 people have been trapped in Aleppo's eastern districts since July 17 when pro-regime forces surrounded the area.

- 'Existential dilemma' -

Residents have reported food shortages and spiralling prices in rebel districts since regime forces cut off the opposition's main supply route into the northern city.

Aid agencies and analysts said the humanitarian corridors must be used to send desperately needed supplies to those areas which have not received any medical aid since July 7.

"Those who decide, for whatever reason, to stay in eastern Aleppo must be protected, and all sides must allow humanitarian agencies to reach and assess their well-being and needs," said the International Committee of the Red Cross.

The US-based International Rescue Committee warned that those left behind in east Aleppo risked starvation and called for a pause in the fighting.

Analyst Karim Bitar from the French think-tank IRIS said: "Aleppo residents are facing a terrible existential dilemma, they often have to chose between risking starvation or risking to die while fleeing."

Humanitarian effort have often been used during the conflict "as cynical ploy to advance geopolitical interests."

Russian Defence Minister Sergei Shoigu announced Thursday that three humanitarian corridors were being opened "to aid civilians held hostage by terrorists and for fighters wishing to lay down their arms".

- 'Military objectives' -

Analysts said losing Aleppo would be a major blow for the rebels and a possible turning point in Syria's five-year-old conflict.

"In Aleppo, getting civilians to leave would both serve its propaganda and its military objectives," said Emile Hokayem, senior fellow at the International Institute for Strategic Studies.

"The regime uses massive, indiscriminate force to brutalise civilians to force them to kneel or reject the rebel groups," he added.

More than 280,000 people have been killed in Syria's war which erupted in 2011 with a brutal crackdown on anti-government protests before becoming a complex conflict involving many groups, including jihadists.

Save the Children voiced "outrage" over the attack of the maternity hospital it supports in Idlib.

"Several babies were injured when their incubators crashed to the floor, and a woman who was six months pregnant had her leg severed," it said.

The Observatory said a jihadist from Al-Nusra Front, which has changed its name to Jabhat Fateh al-Sham, was killed in the raid in the rebel-held town of Kafar Takharim.

It also reported that IS had executed 24 civilians after seizing a village in northern Syria.

Rio Olympics 2016: Athletes warned to keep mouths closed when swimming in faeces-infested water

Pollution floating in Guanabara Bay
All efforts by the government to clean the Rio waters seem to have failed

Athletes competing in the 2016 Olympic Games in Brazil have been warned by doctors, engineers, and scientists to keep their mouths shut while participating in activities in the water.

Researchers found that many of the beaches in Rio de Janeiro have been long contaminated with raw sewage, household garbage, and even dead bodies, creating hazardous swimming conditions for the 500,000 people expected to descend on the city in August.

"Foreign athletes will literally be swimming in human crap, and they risk getting sick from all those microorganisms," Rio paediatrician Dr Daniel Becker told the New York Times. "It's sad but also worrisome."

The Brazilian government had promised to clean the pathogen-infested Guanabara Bay in 2014, but those efforts failed.

Stelberto Soares, a municipal engineer who has worked on Rio sanitation issues for decades, said that the government's efforts to clean the waters were superficial at best.

"They can try to block big items like sofas and dead bodies, but these rivers are pure sludge," he said, "so the bacteria and viruses are going to just pass through."

"We just have to keep our mouths closed," said 24-year-old Afrodite Zegers of the Dutch sailing team - one of the 10,000 athletes from 205 countries competing in Brazil.

Scientists and researchers found a wide array of disease-causing viruses and bacteria that can cause ailments such as diarrhea, vomiting, and death in people with poor immune systems.

The International Olympic Committee maintained that the waters where athletes will compete meet World Health Organisation safety standards.

The Games will get underway amid a tumultuous time for the South American country. It is the veritable epicentre of the Zika virus global health crisis, higher crime, a massive police strike, and impeachment proceedings for former president Dilma Rousseff.

However, despite the political crises in the country, public health advocates feel the Olympics have helped bring the issues of sanitation to the attention of the international community.

"Our biggest plague, our biggest environmental problem, is basic sanitation," said Rio de Janeiro environment official Andrea Correa said. "The Olympics has woken people up to the problem."

Innocent bystander live streams his own arrest, cop says 'I'm Gonna F**k You Up!'

© Youtube
Syracuse cop eg. glorified thug
Maurice Crawley, 52, was live streaming on his Facebook page Thursday when he was attacked and arrested by jackboot thugs for practicing his First Amendment right.

Crawley had not committed a crime and had harmed no one when two officers from the Syracuse police department went out of their way to cross the street, assault and kidnap him.

The incident happened Thursday as Crawley was out on the streets holding police officers accountable by filming them. As Crawley is filming two officers arrest a motorist, he says, "see what's going on with these boys, make sure they're doing everything they're supposed to be doing."

Crawley then zooms in. "Look at the Uncle Tom," he said. "Yeah, Uncle Tom. Mmmhmm."

As he zooms out, Crawley films one officer frisking the woman when he is threatened by the other officer.

"Hey! Say one word, your ass is going to jail, just so you know."

Crawley replied, "I didn't hear you. Say it again, officer. I'm sorry, I didn't hear you."

Asking the officer to repeat himself apparently flipped a switch inside this cop and he went into rampage mode.

"Don't ****ing move, you understand me? Don't you ****in move. I'm gonna **** you up!"

Since Crawley live-streamed the video, police were unable to delete it. It was then posted to the Black Lives Matter Syracuse Facebook page where it quickly went viral.

A peaceful protest formed on Friday as a result of the video.

According to Syracuse.com, Crawley is an outspoken anti-violence advocate in the community.

Herve Comeau, a spokesman for the Onondaga County Justice Center, helped to organize the peaceful protest.

"Though the city, the mayor and the police chief have suggested that hiring black police officers would solve the problem, it would not," Comeau said.

Comeau then went on to note how the color of the officer's skin is irrelevant as long as they can hide behind the badge. "The problem is police culture," he said. "The problem is the lack of accountability. The problem is that violent police officers can do violence against black bodies without consequence."

The report from Syracuse.com gives the official reason for the arrest in addition to the charges. It's quite compelling:
City Court Judge Mary Anne Doherty read from the charges filed against [Maurice] Crawley. According to the criminal complaint, Crowley stood across the street during a police drug investigation. Crawley used his hands to make a "circle motion" and made "tornado comments" while officers conducted a search, Doherty said.

Crawley's actions presented a dangerous situation and interfered with the investigation, the complaint said.
Doherty said Crowley is charged with resisting arrest for refusing to put his hands behind his back or over his head when an officer attempted to handcuff him. When an officer grabbed his elbow he "tensed up" and was then tackled to the ground.Below is a perfect example of why there is a growing divide between the police and the policed. Until cops start protecting American's rights instead of violating them, this divide will continue to expand.

If you watch the video below and attempt to dismiss it by claiming it is an isolated incident, think again. Click here to see case after case of police officers arresting people for legally filming.
