Why do we Allow Private Families to Control the World’s Money?

The masses can no longer escape the knowledge that they’re being taken for a walk down a dark alley: the way money is created in our global society benefits the so-called elite at the expense of the 99.9%. It doesn’t have to be this way though; all we have to do is stand up and demand that it change.

Most of the central banks around the world are linked to these elite power structures. Furthermore, money is no longer backed by anything concrete. It used to be, when it was attached to the gold standard. But for the last several decades if you and I were to get a loan from a bank we’re not actually being loaned anything they had. Instead, they punch numbers into a computer, which creates new money that is placed directly into our bank accounts.

That’s right – they created new cash out of nothing. They didn’t get it from their vault, or loan it from another source, they just created it on their computer. This begs the question: why do we allow private stakeholders, such as the banking families that control the world’s financial and political spheres, to profit from money that was created out of thin air? Can’t we just generate new funds for the benefit of the people and direct the profits back into the community?

Of course we can. If so, we could genuinely attempt to finally overcome poverty, homelessness and other socioeconomic disadvantage. In fact, there are some places on earth that have already taken the lead in transforming the way money is created and distributed in their society.

First of course is Iceland, who not only jailed 26 bankers for their fraudulent behavior that contributed to their economic meltdown during the GFC, but they are also initiating massive reforms to their banking sector. In addition, they are going to give every citizen a share of the profit from the sale of one of their biggest banks.

It’s only the beginning, but well done Iceland, you’re killing it (the monetary-madness, that is).

Another example is North Dakota, who operates under a public-banking model. They have designed their state-owned bank in a way that was essentially immune to the 2008 GFC. It has also outperformed the private banking industry in terms of profits. Many matrix-media explanations focus on excess deposits or the oil boom for its success, however that is simply not true. As explained in a Global Research article:

To what, then, are the remarkable achievements of this lone public bank attributable? The answer is something the privately-owned major media have tried to sweep under the rug: the public banking model is simply more profitable and efficient than the private model. Profits, rather than being siphoned into offshore tax havens, are recycled back into the bank, the state and the community”.

When some people hear about a system being designed to help society to be alleviated from its vulnerabilities, disadvantages and dysfunctions, they hear socialism, and it offends them. Personally, I just cannot fathom why anybody would build some fairytale rationale in their mind which justifies not helping out their fellow man.

The reality is, the celebration of the capitalist structure and the contempt towards socialism and communism achieves nothing. Just have a look at where capitalism got us, regardless if it was taken over by crony capitalism and socialism for the rich.

The simple fact remains that going backwards is not an option, and right now humanity is being controlled by a monetary system that is, to put it bluntly, a ****ing joke. We need new approaches and innovative designs to move forward to build real peace and prosperity on planet earth, so as a collective we should make it a fundamental priority to seriously look at the available short and long term solutions that we could potentially implement to once and for all put the final nail in the coffin of being ruled by an aristocratic regime.

After all, they have failed to provide an equal and just society for all of mankind.

For examples of how to truly move forward, read this article. If you want to contribute to the cause, sign and share this petition:

UN supports sovereignty for Palestine and slams Israel

By Stuart Littlewood on December 30, 2015

Resolution severely criticises the 'Occupying Power'

United Nationsby Stuart Littlewood

Can this be true?

Something important and, freedom lovers may think, rather wonderful seems to have happened at the United Nations, and it went largely unreported in mainstream media. The UN General Assembly approved a draft resolution ‘Permanent sovereignty of the Palestinian people in the Occupied Palestinian Territory, including East Jerusalem, and of the Arab population in the occupied Syrian Golan over their natural resources’ (document A/70/480).

It was adopted by 164 to 5 against (Canada, Israel, Marshall Islands, Federated States of Micronesia, United States), with 10 abstentions (Australia, Cameroon, Côte d’Ivoire, Honduras, Papua New Guinea, Paraguay, South Sudan, Togo, Tonga, Vanuatu).

What’s so wonderful? The draft resolution pulls no punches and must have thoroughly annoyed the insatiable state of Israel, which has evil designs on the natural resources – oil, gas and water – belonging to its neighbours. The resolution is long but nicely crafted, and is reproduced here pretty much in its entirety as an aide-memoire of Israel’s long history of contemptuous disregard for its obligations.

The General Assembly,

Recalling its resolution 69/241 of 19 December 2014, and taking note of Economic and Social Council resolution 2015/17 of 20 July 2015,

Recalling also its resolutions 58/292 of 6 May 2004 and 59/251 of 22 December 2004,

Reaffirming the principle of the permanent sovereignty of peoples under foreign occupation over their natural resources,

Guided by the principles of the Charter of the United Nations, affirming the inadmissibility of the acquisition of territory by force, and recalling relevant Security Council resolutions, including resolutions 242 (1967) of 22 November 1967, 465 (1980) of 1 March 1980 and 497 (1981) of 17 December 1981,

Recalling its resolution 2625 (XXV) of 24 October 1970,

Reaffirming the applicability of the Geneva Convention relative to the Protection of Civilian Persons in Time of War, of 12 August 1949, to the Occupied Palestinian Territory, including East Jerusalem, and other Arab territories occupied by Israel since 1967,

Recalling, in this regard, the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights and the International Covenant on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights, and affirming that these human rights instruments must be respected in the Occupied Palestinian Territory, including East Jerusalem, as well as in the occupied Syrian Golan,

Recalling also the advisory opinion rendered on 9 July 2004 by the International Court of Justice on the legal consequences of the construction of a wall in the Occupied Palestinian Territory, and recalling further its resolutions ES-10/15 of 20 July 2004 and ES-10/17 of 15 December 2006,

Recalling further its resolution 67/19 of 29 November 2012,

Taking note of the accession by Palestine to several human rights treaties and the core humanitarian law treaties, as well as to other international treaties,

Expressing its concern about the exploitation by Israel, the occupying Power, of the natural resources of the Occupied Palestinian Territory, including East Jerusalem, and other Arab territories occupied by Israel since 1967,

Expressing its grave concern about the extensive destruction by Israel, the occupying Power, of agricultural land and orchards in the Occupied Palestinian Territory, including the uprooting of a vast number of fruit-bearing trees and the destruction of farms and greenhouses, and the grave environmental and economic impact in this regard,

Expressing its grave concern also about the widespread destruction caused by Israel, the occupying Power, to vital infrastructure, including water pipelines, sewage networks and electricity networks, in the Occupied Palestinian Territory, in particular in the Gaza Strip during the military operations of July and August 2014, which, inter alia, has polluted the environment and negatively affect the functioning of water and sanitation systems and the water supply and other natural resources of the Palestinian people, and stressing the urgency of the reconstruction and development of water and other vital civilian infrastructure, including the project for the desalination facility for the Gaza Strip,

Expressing its grave concern further about the negative impact on the environment and on reconstruction and development efforts of the thousands of items of unexploded ordnance that remain in the Gaza Strip as a result of the conflict in July and August 2014,

Recalling the 2009 report by the United Nations Environment Programme regarding the grave environmental situation in the Gaza Strip, and the 2012 report, “Gaza in 2020: A liveable place?”, by the United Nations country team in the Occupied alestinian Territory, and stressing the need for follow-up to the recommendations contained therein,

Deploring the detrimental impact of the Israeli settlements on Palestinian and other Arab natural resources, especially as a result of the confiscation of land and the forced diversion of water resources, including the destruction of orchards and crops and the seizure of water well by Israeli settlers, and of the dire socioeconomic consequences in this regard,

Recalling the report of the independent international fact-finding mission to investigate the implications of the Israeli settlements on the civil, political, economic, social and cultural rights of the Palestinian people throughout the Occupied Palestinian Territory, including East Jerusalem,

Aware of the detrimental impact on Palestinian natural resources being caused by the unlawful construction of the wall by Israel, the occupying Power, in the Occupied Palestinian Territory, including in and around East Jerusalem, and of its grave effect as well on the economic and social conditions of the Palestinian people,

Stressing the urgency of achieving without delay an end to the Israeli occupation that began in 1967 and a just, lasting and comprehensive peace settlement on all tracks, on the basis of Security Council resolutions 242 (1967), 338 (1973) of 22 October 1973, 425 (1978) of 19 March 1978 and 1397 (2002) of 12 March 2002, the principle of land for peace, the Arab Peace Initiative and the Quartet performance-based road map to a permanent two-State solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, as endorsed by the Security Council in its resolution 1515 (2003) of 19 November 2003 and supported by the Council in its resolution 1850 (2008) of 16 December 2008,

Stressing also, in this regard, the need for respect for the obligation upon Israel under the road map to freeze settlement activity, including so-called “natural growth”, and to dismantle all settlement outposts erected since March 2001,

Stressing further the need for respect and preservation of the territorial unity, contiguity and integrity of all of the Occupied Palestinian Territory, including East Jerusalem,

Recalling the need to end all acts of violence, including acts of terror, provocation, incitement and destruction,

Taking note of the report prepared by the Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia on the economic and social repercussions of the Israeli occupation on the living conditions of the Palestinian people in the Occupied Palestinian Territory, including East Jerusalem, and of the Arab population in the occupied Syrian Golan, as transmitted by the Secretary-General,

  1. Reaffirms the inalienable rights of the Palestinian people and of the population of the occupied Syrian Golan over their natural resources, including land, water and energy resources;
  2. Demands that Israel, the occupying Power, cease the exploitation, damage, cause of loss or depletion and endangerment of the natural resources in the Occupied Palestinian Territory, including East Jerusalem, and in the occupied Syrian Golan;
  3. Recognizes the right of the Palestinian people to claim restitution as a result of any exploitation, damage, loss or depletion or endangerment of their natural resources resulting from illegal measures taken by Israel, the occupying Power, and Israeli settlers in the Occupied Palestinian Territory, including East Jerusalem, and expresses the hope that this issue will be dealt with within the framework of the final status negotiations between the Palestinian and Israeli sides;
  4. Stresses that the wall and settlements being constructed by Israel in the Occupied Palestinian Territory, including in and around East Jerusalem, are contrary to international law and are seriously depriving the Palestinian people of their natural resources, and calls in this regard for full compliance with the legal obligations affirmed in the 9 July 2004 advisory opinion of the International Court of Justice and in relevant United Nations resolutions, including General Assembly resolution ES-10/15;
  5. Calls upon Israel, the occupying Power, to comply strictly with its obligations under international law, including international humanitarian law, and to cease immediately and completely all policies and measures aimed at the alteration of the character and status of the Occupied Palestinian Territory, including East Jerusalem;
  6. Also calls upon Israel, the occupying Power, to bring a halt to all actions, including those perpetrated by Israeli settlers, harming the environment, including the dumping of all kinds of waste materials, in the Occupied Palestinian Territory, including East Jerusalem, and in the occupied Syrian Golan, which gravely threaten their natural resources, namely water and land resources, and which pose an environmental, sanitation and health threat to the civilian populations;
  7. Further calls upon Israel to cease its destruction of vital infrastructure, including water pipelines, sewage networks and electricity networks, which, inter alia, has a negative impact on the natural resources of the Palestinian people, stresses the urgent need to advance reconstruction and development projects in this regard, including in the Gaza Strip, and calls for support for the necessary efforts in this regard, in line with the commitments made at, inter alia, the Cairo International Conference on Palestine: Reconstructing Gaza, held on 12 October 2014;
  8. Calls upon Israel, the occupying Power, to remove all obstacles to the implementation of critical environmental projects, including sewage treatment plants in the Gaza Strip and the reconstruction and development of water infrastructure, including the project for the desalination facility for the Gaza Strip;
  9. Calls for the immediate and safe removal of all unexploded ordnance in the Gaza Strip and for support for the efforts of the United Nations Mine Action Service in this regard, and welcomes the efforts exerted by the Service to date;
  10. Encourages all States and international organizations to continue to actively pursue policies to ensure respect for their obligations under international law with regard to all illegal Israeli practices and measures in the Occupied Palestinian Territory, including East Jerusalem, particularly Israeli settlement activities and the exploitation of natural resources;
  11. Requests the Secretary-General to report to the General Assembly at its seventy-first session on the implementation of the present resolution, including with regard to the cumulative impact of the exploitation, damage and depletion by Israel of natural resources in the Occupied Palestinian Territory, including East Jerusalem, and in the occupied Syrian Golan, and decides to include in the provisional agenda of its seventy-first session the item entitled “Permanent sovereignty of the Palestinian people in the Occupied Palestinian Territory, including East Jerusalem, and of the Arab population in the occupied Syrian Golan over their natural resources”.

This is strong stuff. But given the UN’s record will the action ever suit the words?

Astonishingly, the Israel-adoring UK government voted for it. Let us make a mental note of those 5 countries – Canada, Israel, Marshall Islands, Federated States of Micronesia, United States – which claim to be freedom loving but are evidently bent on denying the poor Palestinians theirs. And the birdbrained 10 – Australia, Cameroon, Côte d’Ivoire, Honduras, Papua New Guinea, Paraguay, South Sudan, Togo, Tonga, Vanuatu – which are so lackadaisically uncommitted to the principle of universal human rights that they sat on the fence. Maybe international civil society would like to prod them with a sharp BDS stick to concentrate their minds.

At least one country, happily, is taking a tough line – Brazil, which, says the BBC, has yet to approve the appointment four months ago of Israel’s new ambassador. Not only is the new man, Dani Dayan, a former chairman of the Yesha Council which promotes illegal Israeli settlements on stolen Palestinian lands, but Israeli prime minister Netanyahu broke the news of the appointment on Twitter before telling Brazil, according to reports.

As even Netanyahu must know, the transfer by an occupier of part of its own population into territory it occupies is considered a war crime, so why should Brazil play host to a foreigner with such a vile record? Israel is threatening to downgrade relations to “secondary level” if Brazil does not give approval to the appointment. And Israeli deputy foreign minister Tzipi Hotovely says that Dayan would not be replaced if his appointment isn’t accepted.

Since Brazil is Israel’s largest trading partner in South America you’d think the Israelis would watch their manners. The Brazilians, hopefully, won’t allow themselves to pushed around by Tel Aviv’s insufferable thugs.

NEW YEAR'S EVE PROTESTS HELD AT CITY HALL, MAG MILE

Chicago has had about 450 shooting deaths in 2015, according to CPD data.

About 150 people staged a die-in at City Hall Thursday afternoon, the second New Year's Eve demonstration in Chicago.

Protesters continue the call for Mayor Rahm Emanuel and Cook County State's Attorney Anita Alvarez to resign for their handling of the Laquan McDonald shooting.

Earlier at about 11 a.m., Fr. Michael Pfleger, of St. Sabina Church on the South Side, led a march along the Magnificent Mile to raise awareness about gun violence. Chicago had 454 people fatally shot in 2015, according to Chicago police statistics. Pfleger called on the city to break the cycle of violence in 2016.

"2015 has been a deadly year in Chicago," Pfleger said. "While you're reminiscing about all the great events of the year, don't forget about your tragedies of the year. The killing in the streets of Chicago."

Later Thursday at 6 p.m., a group called Black Rose will stage a "New Year's Eve Noise Demo" outside the Metropolitan Correctional Center in the Loop. The anarchist community group plans to noise outside the federal prison facility to express solidarity for the imprisoned.

Pfleger invited the families of victims to carry photos on the march down Michigan Avenue.

Among the family members was Velinda Simpson, whose son Ashton was fatally shot in September outside his home in Chicago's Auburn-Gresham neighborhood.

"All of a sudden, a series of gunshots erupted," Simpson said. "And we found out it was retaliation for another shot earlier in the day."

Pfleger was joined by Northern Illinois University students, who marched in the memory of Quintonio LeGrier, a 19-year-old NIU student who was shot by Chicago police Christmas weekend.

Police were called to LeGrier's father's home in West Garfield Park for a domestic disturbance early Saturday. His neighbor, Bettie Jones, 55, was accidentally fatally shot by police. Their deaths prompted Mayor Emanuel to return home from his Cuba vacation early.

Emanuel, Alvarez and the Chicago Police Department have been under fire since dashcam video was released last month showing a Chicago police officer fatally shooting black teenager Laquan McDonald as he walked away.

Chicago Police Officer Jason Van Dyke was charged in the 2014 murder of Laquan McDonald more than a year after the teenager's death, prompting protests and eventually the resignation of Garry McCarthy as Chicago's police superintendent.

The U.S. Department of Justice launched an investigation into the CPD's use of force as an embattled Emanuel announced reforms, including de-escalation training and Tasers for Chicago police officers.

Chicago prosecutor asks for FBI help on police shootings

Reuters

By Mary Wisniewski and Justin Madden

CHICAGO (Reuters) - Chicago's top prosecutor on Thursday said she asked the U.S. Federal Bureau of Investigation to help probe the fatal police shootings of two black residents over the weekend, as protesters renewed calls for the resignation of Mayor Rahm Emanuel.

The unusual step ramps up pressure on the Chicago Police Department, which is already the subject of a U.S. Department of Justice civil rights investigation over its use of deadly force, especially against minorities.

Cook County State's Attorney Anita Alvarez said on Thursday she wants help investigating the shootings of Bettie Jones, a 55-year-old mother of five, and Quintonio LeGrier, a 19-year old college student, by a single Chicago police officer.

Police, who were responding to a call that LeGrier was threatening his father with a baseball bat, have admitted that Jones' shooting was accidental.

"This is a deeply disturbing incident that demands a very deliberate and meticulous independent investigation," said Alvarez.

Shootings of blacks by mainly white police officers in several cities over the past 18 months have led to protests across the country. Cleveland is expecting to see its fourth day of demonstrations following a decision on Monday not to charge officers who shot and killed a 12-year-old boy playing with a toy gun.

In Chicago, protesters at City Hall on Thursday punched a papier mache effigy of the mayor's face and chanted "Hey, hey! Ho, ho! Rahm Emanuel has got to go." They also planned a protest in front of Emanuel's house.

Protests against both Emanuel and Alvarez have been staged almost daily since late last month when the nation's third-largest city released video showing a white Chicago police officer, Jason Van Dyke, shooting a black teenager 16 times in October 2014.

Van Dyke was charged on Nov. 24 with Laquan McDonald's murder and this week pleaded not guilty. Critics say it took too long to both charge Van Dyke and release the video.

The weekend shootings of Jones and LeGrier increased tensions in Chicago, forcing Emanuel to return early from a family vacation to deal with the fallout.

Emanuel on Wednesday announced that Chicago police will get new equipment - including generally non-lethal Tasers - and training to help them defuse tense situations and limit use of lethal force.

Hundreds of protesters also gathered on Thursday on Chicago's most prestigious shopping district, called the Magnificent Mile, to protest all gun violence. Chicago has seen 2,360 shootings in 2015, up 17 percent over 2014.

Among the marchers was Lutrice Boyd, whose son Frederick James Giles III, 21, was killed in 2012. "I haven't been whole since my child has left," said Boyd.

Germany lifts alert of imminent attack in Munich

Munich (Germany) (AFP) - German police Friday lifted an alert of an imminent attack in Munich, hours after evacuating two key train stations over fears jihadists were planning a New Year suicide bomb assault.

Officials had said they were tipped off about a plot by the Islamic State group to strike at the southern German city shortly before midnight as Europe prepared to ring in the New Year in an atmosphere of unprecedented security.

European capitals have been on high alert since November when IS jihadists slaughtered 130 people in a series of gun and suicide attacks in Paris, stoking fears they could stage further attacks over the Christmas and New Year holidays.

But German investigators, acting on information from a foreign intelligence service, said they have so far failed to substantiate the threat.

"Overall I would say that the situation for Munich is as it was before this threat of attack," Munich police chief Hubertus Andrae told journalists on Friday.

Investigators had in hand the names of some of the "five to seven" suspects allegedly planning to blow themselves up at locations including Munich's main rail hub and Pasing station in the western part of the city, he said, but have not yet found any evidence.

"We have examined data relating to these names, but at the moment, we do not know if these names are correct, whether these people exist and where they are," he said, adding that the suspects were allegedly from Iraq and Syria.

A large deployment of 550 officers overnight has now been reduced to 100, and Andrae urged the public to "live as you did before".

Nevertheless, the police chief refuted speculation that the threat was a false alarm, saying that "if there is such information, we have to act".

Interior Minister Thomas de Maiziere thanked Bavarian authorities for their action, warning in a statement that the security situation in Europe and Germany "remains serious in the New Year".

"Security agencies continue to expect a high threat stemming from international terrorism," he said.

- Police warn via Twitter -

Just over an hour before the New Year, police ordered the evacuation of the two stations over a possible "terror attack", issuing alerts via Twitter in several languages.

Rail services at both stations were immediately suspended and police urged the public to avoid large gatherings. Both stations later reopened at around 3:30am, but police called for vigilance.

Regional broadcaster Bayerischer Rundfunk said the suspects were seven Iraqis living in Munich who were allegedly planning to work in pairs and blow themselves up at the two stations as well in other parts of the city.

Germany had been tipped off by both US and French authorities, it said.

The alert brought an eerie silence to Munich's busy rail hub, which over the summer made headlines for the massive turn-out of volunteers welcoming record numbers of refugees to Germany.

Police, including some in riot gear, were stationed overnight at the entrances to the station. Revellers seeking to access the site were turned away.

Meanwhile across Europe, public celebrations went ahead as planned but under the watchful eye of thousands of police and security forces.

- Belgium also targeted? -

With fears of a fresh attack high, both France and Belgium scrapped the traditional New Year fireworks displays in their respective capitals, with Brussels saying it had information about an alleged jihadist plot to attack "emblematic sites" over the holiday.

Ahead of the celebrations, Belgian police carried out several raids in Brussels and the eastern city of Liege in connection with the alleged plot, with five people still in custody on Friday morning. All five deny the allegations.

Several days after the November 13 Paris attacks, German police called off an international football match at the last minute, evacuating thousands of fans from the stadium over a "serious" bomb threat.

Although an investigation was opened, no explosives were found nor arrests made.

De Maiziere -- who had been due to attend the match with Chancellor Angela Merkel -- later said the event was cancelled "to protect the population", but did not provide specifics.
