You are right, Barry; all true. Unfortunately.

Mainstream Media Stay Silent As Riots Erupt in London Over Re-Election of David Cameron

Protests have erupted in central London against the re-election of Britain’s Conservative prime minister David Cameron, with demonstrators throwing bottles, cans and smoke bombs at riot police.

Scuffles broke out when the demonstrators, blaring hooters, banging pots and chanting obscenities, confronted lines of police outside the gate leading to the prime minister’s Downing Street residence. At one point a bicycle was hurled at police.

Police arrested five people, and four police officers and one member of police staff were injured policing this protest, a Scotland Yard spokesman said.

This remarkable footage is 12 minutes long and gives a unique insight into what was actually happening on the streets of London today.

Fallout from Shameful Victory Day Parade Boycott Is Everywhere

A number of politicians expressed ‘shame’ that their leaders did not attend the Victory Day Parade in Moscow

RUSSIA'S VICTORY DAY 15 hours ago

This article originally appeared at Red Pill Times

V-Day boycott was moral cowardice writ large

What spineless, petty, weak fools, western leaders are. From Obama to Merkel, Cameron, Hollande and Harper, none of them have even a shred of honor.

They are great at overthrowing governments, torture, drone strikes and wreaking general suffering and havoc on the world, but diplomats they are not.

The irony should not be lost. These western puppets are boycotting Russia’s Victory Day event because they support an openly-fascist Ukraine.

Former Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi, (in an open letter to the chief editor of the influential Italian newspaper Corriere della Sera) called the Western leaders’ boycott of the Victory parade in Moscow a “myopia.”

“What we are doing is a mistake. This reviewing stand on the Red Square, where the leaders of China, India and other Asian states sit near Putin, is not a sign of Russia’s isolation, but means the decline of the West.”

Italian politician and leader of the Lega Nord or “Northern League” Matteo Salvini, showed respect to the Russia’s President on Saturday. On Facebook, he published photos with Vladimir Putin with a comment:

“I am with him.”

Meanwhile in France, Francois Hollande’s decision to boycott the Victory Day Parade was described as a big mistake by many French politicians according to Ouest France.

Jean-Luc Melenchon, a former French presidential candidate and founder of the Left Party, was furious about Hollande’s absence in Moscow, calling it a “shame.”

“The absence of Hollande is a diplomatic, as well as a historical insult. I’ll call it what it is: a shame. It is even worse because Vladimir Putin came to honor the 70th anniversary of the Allies’ troops landing at Normandy.”

Jacques Myard, a member of the Union for a Popular Movement (UMP) party, called Hollande’s absence a shameful act, adding that Russia is a key partner for France in Europe and Hollande shouldn’t have changed his stance towards Russia because of the crisis in Ukraine.

“Hollande’s refusal to visit Moscow is the insult of history!”

Nicolas Dupont-Aignan, a UMP member, said…

“The refusal of Francois Hollande to attend the ceremonies in Moscow is a shame and a mistake. This date is very important for Russians who paid a heavy price, 27 million people died fighting the war against Nazis.”

Florian Philippot, one of the leaders of the Front National (FN), tweeted:

L'absence de la France aux commémorations du 9 mai à Moscou sera perçue comme une offense au peuple russe, qui fut saigné à blanc. Pas digne

The absence of France in the May 9 commemorations in Moscow will be perceived as an insult to the Russian people, who was bled to death. Not worthy

Hollande, for his part, opted to kiss some Saudi Prince ass instead. On May 5, Hollade went to Saudi Arabia as a guest of honor to attend a summit of the Council of the Arab League.

French political columnist Yannik Chauvin heavily criticized the move, stating that Hollande was quick to extend his hand of friendship to Saudi Arabia that has a terrible record of human rights abuses and was accused of sponsoring global terrorism.

RT: ’Ditch Cold War mentality': China hits back at US DoD report

Beijing has voiced “strong opposition” to a US Department of Defense (DoD) report which accused China’s military of being a threat and lacking transparency. It also urged the US to abandon its Cold War mentality and stop jeopardizing bilateral relations.

The US report, published on Friday, criticized the actions of China’s military in the disputed South China Sea – particularly the rapid construction of artificial islands in the strategic waters.

“Most analysts outside China believe that China is attempting to change facts on the ground by improving its defense infrastructure in the South China Sea,” the US report said.

According to the Pentagon, the islands total 2,000 acres (800 hectares), with 75 percent built over the past five months.

But a Sunday statement from Hua Chunying, China’s Foreign Ministry spokesperson, hit back at Washington’s claims.

“By hyping up ‘China’s military threat and the lack of transparency in military strength,’ the report questions China’s normal defense building and strategic intention, and makes inappropriate remarks on China’s justified actions of safeguarding territorial sovereignty and security interests in the South China Sea,” the statement reads.

Accusing the US report of being in “defiance of the facts,” the statement added that China is entitled to national defense building, which is for the “sole purpose of safeguarding national independence, sovereignty, and national integrity.”

The Foreign Ministry also accused Washington of viewing China’s military development with prejudice, expressing hope that Washington would “abandon its Cold War mentality.”

It urged the US to stop issuing such reports and“doing or saying anything that jeopardizes bilateral relations and military-to-military mutual trust.”

Instead, it encouraged Washington to make“tangible moves to ensure the sound and steady development of state-to-state and military-to-military relations between China and the US.”

While Beijing’s construction intentions remain unclear, the US claimed in its report that five emerging outposts in the Spratly Islands could be used for surveillance systems, harbors and logistical support, adding that they could hold “at least one airfield.”

China began reclaiming land in the South China Sea in 2014. Beijing claims nearly the entire area as its own, which is rich in natural resources and is a main trade route.

However, the waters are also claimed by other countries in the region – Vietnam, Indonesia, Malaysia, Brunei and the Philippines – which are trying to bolster their position there.

On Monday, the Philippines’ military chief flew to an island occupied by his country in the South China Sea, vowing to defend the territory against aggression.

It followed protests in the Philippines which called on China to withdraw its ships from the Scarborough Shoal in the South China Sea. The two nations have been locked in a stand-off at the shoal since April 8, with both sides accusing each other of intruding into territorial waters.

The report, which cost the DoD approximately $92,000, also focused on China’s development and testing of missile defense and its space capabilities.

El Nino will be 'substantial', warn Australian scientists

Australian scientists on Tuesday forecast a "substantial" El Nino weather phenomenon for 2015, potentially spelling deadly and costly climate extremes, after officially declaring its onset in the tropical Pacific.

El Nino had been expected last year when record-breaking temperatures made 2014 the hottest in more than a century. The Australian Bureau of Meteorology said while the thresholds were not met until now it was expected to be a significant event.

The Japan Meteorological Agency also confirmed the phenomenon had begun and forecast it would continue into late 2015.

"There's always a little bit of doubt when it comes to intensity forecasts, but across the models as a whole we'd suggest that this will be quite a substantial El Nino event," David Jones, from the bureau's climate information services branch said.

"Certainly the models aren't predicting a weak event. They are predicting a moderate-to-strong El Nino event. So this is a proper El Nino event, this is not a weak one or a near miss as we saw last year."

The El Nino phenomenon -- which is associated with drought conditions in Australia -- can cause havoc for farmers and global agricultural markets, hitting economies heavily dependent on the land.

The last El Nino five years ago had a major impact with monsoons in Southeast Asia, droughts in southern Australia, the Philippines and Ecuador, blizzards in the United States, heatwaves in Brazil and killer floods in Mexico.

It occurs when the trade winds that circulate over waters in the tropical Pacific start to weaken and sea surface temperatures rise.

- Severe drought -

US officials announced earlier this year that the long-awaited El Nino had arrived, but the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration described it as of "weak strength".

Australian scientists said models were now showing it was likely to see an increased intensity from about September and have potential global impacts.

"Last year we saw some indices, such as the sea surface temperatures at times exceed El Nino thresholds... but we didn't see them all coming together at the same time or we didn't see it sustained," Jones explained.

He said this year's pattern could create drier conditions in Indonesia, Papua New Guinea and parts of Southeast Asia.

In the past it has caused heavier-than-normal rainfall in the eastern Pacific and South America -- raising the spectre of floods and landslides, while the southwest United States and southern Africa tend to be drier.

An El Nino is potentially a bad sign for large swathes of Australia, including the states of Queensland and New South Wales, which are already in the grip of severe drought.

Neil Plummer, the bureau's assistant director for climate information services, said it was often associated with below average rainfall across eastern Australia and warmer temperatures in the southern half over the hottest months.

"The onset of El Nino in Australia in 2015 is a little earlier than usual," he said, adding that this was the first such phenomenon in the tropical Pacific since March 2010.

"Prolonged El Nino-like conditions have meant that some areas are more vulnerable to the impact of warmer temperatures and drier conditions."

El Nino is forecast to strengthen during the southern hemisphere winter but while the event increases the risk of drought, it does not guarantee it -- with only 17 of the 26 El Nino events since 1900 resulting in widespread drought in Australia.

On the upside, the bureau said it would expect the tropical cyclone season to be below average for Australia.

"Every El Nino is different and we know that some years like 1972, 1982 and 1994 really fit the stereotype strongly, severe drought, very hot daytime temperatures, bushfire activity and so on," said Jones.

"But not every El Nino event follows that pattern."
