Lots of calculation are going on. Arab countries will think 100 times before starting direct attack to ISIS. US will attack and (with or without win) leave the area one day but these Arab countries will be in the same position where they are, closed to ISIS. It is very difficult to eradicate ideology, and hatred developed against US among the people of this area. So ISIS will not be alone, rather they may get more support from various part of Arab population after starting of heavy air strike.

Another heavy blood shed is coming :O

You are so right, Hafiz, and I am afraid the situation may mount to apocalyptic levels soon. Unfortunately it has grown to an unsustainable level already and this is seen in the almost general acceptance Obama's plan has reached so far.

What I am not so sure about is why and how all this ISIS movement originated and grew up so fast and disproportionately. Some people claim it was intended as a hoax or a false flag by a shadow party in the beginning and then, it grew out of control and went on the loose as usual in these cases. Who knows, it probably is too late now to suffocate it and the entire world or a substantial part of it will have to cope with the consequences. Unless a miracle occurs, that is.

Another thing to consider is how greed has had a substantial part in all this. The saying 'follow the money' applies in all cases and why it should be different now? Whether or not ISIS was originated as suggested above, the crude fact is all wars move immense amounts of money and again, why this should not be the case now? Think of all the weapons and armament involved, the transportation expenses including combustible, the troops equipment and food, the medicines for the wounded personnel, et cetera. I would not be surprised if all or most of it is provided by the same people - the eighty or so families, Bush, Cheney and so on. They play the demons roles in the prophecies of the end days.

I am afraid all we have left now is pray and wait to see.

Miguel

Video shows slaying of British aid worker

GRAPHIC CONTENT Islamic State video purports to show beheading of British hostage David Haines

BEIRUT (AP) — Islamic State extremists released a video showing the beheading of British aid worker David Haines, who was abducted in Syria last year, and British Prime Minister David Cameron late Saturday condemned his slaying as "an act of pure evil."

Cameron confirmed Haines' death in a statement after the British Foreign Office had said earlier that it was "working urgently to verify the video." Haines is the third Westerner beheaded in recent weeks by the Islamic State group, which has seized vast swaths of territory in Syria and Iraq.

"This is a despicable and appalling murder of an innocent aid worker. It is an act of pure evil," Cameron said, adding that "my heart goes out to the family of David Haines who have shown extraordinary courage and fortitude throughout this ordeal."

"We will do everything in our power to hunt down these murderers and ensure they face justice, however long it takes," Cameron said.

Cameron returned to his residence at 10 Downing Street shortly after midnight and is expected to chair a meeting of the government's emergency response committee early Sunday.

The video emerged a day after Haines' family issued a public plea late Friday urging his captors to contact them.

The Foreign Office said it was offering Haines' family "every support possible. They ask to be left alone at this time."

Islamic State militants recently beheaded two American journalists, James Foley and Steven Sotloff, and posted the videos online after the U.S. began launching airstrikes and humanitarian missions in August to aid waning Iraqi and Kurdish security forces in northern Iraq. The Islamic State group has also put out videos showing the beheading of Kurdish and Lebanese soldiers and the mass shooting of dozens of captured Syrian soldiers.

At the end of the video showing the beheading of Sotloff, the Islamic State group threatened to kill Haines next and briefly showed him on camera.

President Barack Obama issued a statement strongly condemning "the barbaric murder" of Haines by the Islamic State terrorist group.

"The United States stands shoulder to shoulder tonight with our close friend and ally in grief and resolve. We will work with the United Kingdom and a broad coalition of nations from the region and around the world to bring the perpetrators of this outrageous act to justice, and to degrade and destroy this threat to the people of our countries, the region and the world," Obama said.

On Wednesday, Obama gave a nationally televised speech outlining a potential military campaign to "degrade and ultimately destroy" the Islamic State militants that is likely to include training and equipping moderate Syrian rebels and Iraqi forces, providing intelligence, and expanding airstrikes against extremists in Iraq and potentially into Syria. Britain was among the initial group of countries joining the U.S.-led coalition to root out the Islamic State extremists.

In the video showing Haines' slaying, the group threatened to kill another British captive. Both British men were dressed in orange jumpsuits against an arid Syrian landscape, similar to that seen in the Foley and Sotloff videos.

The SITE Intelligence Group, a U.S. terrorism watchdog, reported the video, which was also posted online by users associated with the Islamic State group.

The video was entitled "A Message to the Allies of America." Haines' killer, who appeared to be the same masked man speaking with a British accent and brandishing a knife as in the previous videos, tells the British government that its alliance with the U.S. will only "accelerate your destruction" and will drag the British people into "another bloody and unwinnable war".

In the video, according to a transcript provided by SITE, Haines says that he holds Cameron "entirely responsible for my execution" because Britain has "voluntarily entered into a coalition with the United States against the Islamic state."

His killer says in the video that Haines was paying the price for Britain's decision to supply weapons to Kurdish Peshmerga fighters, who are battling the Islamic State group in northern Iraq. He references U.S. airstrikes against Islamic State fighters near the Haditha Dam in western Iraq, which the U.S. began targeting on Sept. 7 — indicating that Haines' killing took place sometime during the past week.

The British government had managed to keep Haines' kidnapping secret out of concern for his safety until the Sotloff beheading video identified him as a captive and the next victim.

Late Friday, the family of Haines issued a public plea urging his captors to contact them.

In a short statement released through Britain's Foreign and Commonwealth Office, the family said: "We are asking those holding David to make contact with us."

Haines, 44, was abducted near a refugee camp in northern Syria in March 2013 while working for the French international aid agency ACTED which was helping thousands of Syrians displaced by the fighting between Syrian President Bashar Assad's forces and rebel groups, including the Islamic State, seeking to oust him. ACTED said in a statement earlier this month that Haines had worked with as an international aid worker since 1999, helping victims of conflict in the Balkans, Africa and the Middle East. Before heading to Syria, ACTED said Haines had worked in 2012 as a "non-partisan unarmed civilian peace facilitator" in South Sudan.

Michael Rubin, a resident scholar at the conservative American Enterprise Institute, said the Islamic State group releases such videos because it has concluded that neither the American nor the European public has the stomach for a protracted conflict in which civilians are tortured and killed.

"Each video that's released, of course, is a propaganda coup, if you will," Rubin, a Pentagon official during the George W. Bush administration, told The Associated Press in an interview Saturday night.

If the slaying of Haines took place in the last few days, Rubin said, the timing suggests that U.S. and other forces have no idea where the extremists are keeping their captives and that, in turn, means a lack of intelligence about what goes on within the group itself.

Mike Haines said in a statement issued by the Foreign Office that his brother was devoted to humanitarian work.

"David was most alive and enthusiastic in his humanitarian roles," Mike Haines said. "His joy and anticipation for the work he went to do in Syria is for myself and family the most important element of this whole sad affair. He was and is loved by all his family and will be missed terribly."

British media have reported that Haines, who is married to a Croatian woman, was educated in Perth, Scotland, and spent 11 years serving in the British Royal Air Force before becoming an international aid worker. Britain's Press Association said Haines had a teenage daughter in Scotland from a previous marriage and a 4-year-old daughter from his present marriage.

Crews battle California wildfire amid heat wave

SANTA ANA, Calif. (AP) — Hundreds of firefighters battled both flames and triple-digit temperatures Saturday as they sought to contain a wildfire that forced people to flee about 30 homes near Southern California's Cleveland National Forest.

The fire, which burned through about 2 ½ square miles of dry canyon brush, was only about 10 percent contained Saturday, said Deanne Thompson, a spokeswoman for the Orange County Emergency Operations Center.

Meanwhile, both heat and smoke advisories were in effect for the area, with temperatures forecast to reach as high as 105 degrees between Saturday and Tuesday.

On Friday, officials ordered the evacuation of about 30 homes in the area. None were reported burned, and authorities said it was just a precaution, but residents remained out of their homes on Saturday.

More than 700 firefighters, aided by six helicopters and five fixed-wing aircraft, were battling the blaze, which was first reported Friday morning. It was expected to continue to grow before it is contained, although no additional structures were immediately threatened.

"The fire is making a couple of uphill runs on us," Orange County fire Capt. Mike Petro said Saturday. "We know that the numbers we have will probably go up. We don't know exactly how much."

The flames sent up a towering column of smoke that could be seen for miles throughout Southern California.

Although temperatures were high, firefighters who worked in the steep terrain were aided by light winds. Three firefighters suffered undisclosed minor injuries.

The National Weather Service says high pressure combined with a weak offshore flow could create high temperatures throughout the weekend reaching up to 20 degrees above normal through Tuesday.

About 90 to 100 homes in the area were without power Saturday, and Thompson said authorities had opened several cooling centers for people needed to escape the heat.

The Cleveland National Forest sprawls over the rugged peaks of the Santa Ana Mountains, straddling the Orange and Riverside county line southeast of Los Angeles.

UK's Cameron calls emergency meeting after killing

Associated Press

Associated Press Videos
British Aid Worker Beheaded

LONDON (AP) — Prime Minister David Cameron is summoning military and security chiefs for an emergency meeting Sunday in response to the beheading of a British hostage and a threat against another.

The meeting comes after Islamic extremists released a video showing the beheading of British aid worker David Haines and threatening another with death.

Mike Haines, the victim's brother, said David Haines had been murdered "in cold blood." Britain's Foreign and Commonwealth Office said it saw no reason to doubt the authenticity of the video.

Haines is the third Westerner beheaded in recent weeks by the Islamic State group, which has seized vast swaths of territory in Syria and Iraq. The first two were U.S. journalists.

Islamic State extremists had threatened Haines' life in an earlier video released nearly two weeks ago.

The masked man shown on the latest video, which ends with footage of Haines' body, seems similar to the man in the earlier beheading videos. The tall man speaks with a similar British accent and — as in the two earlier videos — threatens the captive with a large knife brandished in his left hand.

The video shows Cameron condemning the Islamic State group. The man with the knife then condemns Britain's support of American action against the group and says the captive must pay with his life.

The 44-year-old aid worker's family had issued a plea to his captors the day before the latest beheading video was released. They urged the hostage-takers to contact them. The family said IS had ignored earlier attempts to open communications.

British officials had said they were doing everything possible to protect Haines. An earlier rescue bid led by U.S. forces had failed, however, and it is not clear Western agencies know the precise location of the hostage-takers.

Haines was kidnapped in Syria in March last year when he was working for the French aid group Agency for Technical Cooperation and Development, or ACTED, to help victims of the fighting there.

After his killing, Haines' family released a statement praising his passion for charitable work.

Mike Haines said his brother was "most alive and enthusiastic" when involved with humanitarian missions.

"His joy and anticipation for the work he went to do in Syria is for myself and family the most important element of this whole sad affair," Mike Haines said of his late brother. "He was and is loved by all his family and will be missed terribly."

Haines worked for humanitarian missions in extremely dangerous conflict zones, including Libya during its civil war and South Sudan shortly after it gained independence.

In addition to ACTED, he had worked for groups such as Handicap International, which helps the disabled during conflicts, and Nonviolent Peaceforce, which sends unarmed peacekeepers into conflict zones.

Haines had a teenage daughter in Scotland from a previous marriage and a four-year-old daughter in Croatia with his current wife, Dragana, who did not comment Sunday morning on the news of the killing.

Mike Haines said his brother had joined the military as an aircraft engineer with the Royal Air Force after attending school and working for the Royal Mail. After some time in the military, Haines worked with the United Nations in the Balkans "helping people in real need," Mike Haines said.

President Obama Condemns ISIS Beheading Of British Aid Worker David Haines (video)

"There are many accolades from people in that region that David helped," Mike Haines said. "He helped whoever needed help, regardless of race, creed or religion."

The leader of Bosnia's Islamic Community, Husein Kavazovic, called on fellow Muslims Sunday to "show resolve to stop the murderers." He said Haines' family can be proud of his legacy.

British officials kept news of Haines' abduction out of the public eye for security reasons until IS showed him in a video nearly two weeks ago.

President Barack Obama said after the killing that the United States would stand with Britain in an expanded effort against the terror group.

"We will work with the United Kingdom and a broad coalition of nations from the region and around the world to bring the perpetrators of this outrageous act to justice, and to degrade and destroy this threat to the people of our countries, the region and the world," he said.

Germany and France, which is holding an international conference Monday to combat IS, also condemned Haines' killing.

"The odious assassination of David Haines shows once more the need for the international community to mobilize against the base and cowardly Daesh," French President Francois Hollande said, using the group's Arabic acronym.

German Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier called the Haines killing "an abhorrent act of barbaric violence beyond all limits of human civilization" and said the Paris meeting comes at the right time.

There needs to be "internationally agreed action to effectively stop the flow of fighters and money," he said.

Some British lawmakers called for Britain to launch air strikes against Islamic State forces after the killing.
