The Founding Master said,
“Even in a familiar relationship like that between parents and children, if the parents instruct children with advice that the parents themselves cannot follow, then the children will not readily accept that advice. Even in an intimate relationship like that between spouses, if one spouse admonishes the other with advice that he or she cannot follow, then the other spouse will not readily accept that admonishment. Therefore, the proper technique for teaching others is to put it into practice ourselves first.”
