Angelic Guides via Taryn Crimi: Your Miraculous Transformation Continues

dawn_over_new_zealandAngelic Guides: Your Miraculous Transformation Continues, channeled through Taryn Crimi, July 1, 2013 at http://angelicguides.wordpress.com

Today we would like to focus your attention on the topic of your transformation. You are continuing to evolve into more conscious beings as your “time” progresses. Some may even find that the person whom they once were has become a distant memory of someone who is now unrecognizable in relation to the person you now find yourself to be.

This will continue on, as you have started down a path that is indeed winding, however you are ascending back into fully conscious beings vibrating once again within the higher realms; although how long it takes and what your journey will entail is entirely up to you.

As you continue to grow, and learn about the tremendous power that surrounds you, you will inevitably learn that it is only a reflection of the power within. You are evolving, day by day, remembering what you came here to forget. You are all divine beings who have chosen to have a physical experience. Each and every one of you is responsible for the creations which you have manifested.

Yet many are still unaware that they are in fact directing the “show”. Many look outside of themselves for a person, an experience, or a situation to blame for their sadness, anger, hurt, pain, and fear; never realizing that they have always directed their experiences by what they have chosen to focus on. It is quite common for humans to focus their attention on how to avoid pain, rather than to direct their attention on how to create more joy. What you focus on will always expand.

Many wonder “how much longer will it be” but we cannot answer this question for you. In the beginning of this message we said that we are not sure of the timing in which you will actually become fully conscious beings in this physical reality; from our perspective, remember that there is no time. You see, you have volunteered your services to be a part of this grand illusion, we have told you this many times. Yet, this experience is unique for many reasons. Many look to us for answers and indeed we are happy to offer you our assistance in every way that we can, however you often forget that you are teaching us all quite a bit as well.

Many of you have experienced ascension as well as a descending into the lower realms in numerous incarnations; however what has not been experienced before is the task of descending into the lower dimensions, agreeing to forget all that you innately know, losing all of conscious knowledge of your abilities, and taking on hundreds of limiting beliefs and then “manually” and consciously ascending back into the higher realms by releasing each limiting belief that you have held for “so long” one at a time.

You see when a soul wanted to experience the lower dimensions, they did so, however when they wanted to regain their abilities and knowledge they simply “left” the lower dimensions through a physical death. This is why we are all so amazed by all that you do! It was well-known and understood that this incarnation would require a tremendous amount of resilience in order to manually release each limiting belief and elevate your consciousness step by step. This has not been done before. This is why there are so very many “old souls” incarnated at this time. How do you release and completely replace each limiting belief consciously? This is a fascinating topic for many of us and of course you equally found it just as fascinating or you wouldn’t have offered your services to be a part of this grand lesson.

No one knew how long it would take, how challenging it would be, or if it was even possible. You have certainly proven that it is in fact possible and this is why so much interest is being stirred in the higher realms by watching you each ascend back into fully conscious beings, all the while, remaining in your physical reality. Humans find comfort in knowing dates, times, and years; but this is not something we can give you. The exact “time” that you choose to ascend back into the higher realms will be unique to each of you. Please know that it is not a race, nor will it be the end to your journey, it will simply be the beginning of a new journey.

As you continue to remember your true nature, your true divinity, you will also regain your ability to manifest all that you truly desire to experience. We are watching as many begin to stir from their self-induced slumber. You have regained the knowledge that you are in fact responsible for every experience in your lives; however you have not yet regained the knowledge of how to consciously direct all of your creative abilities. This is the hardest part of the shift, just as a toddler finds it to be frustrating that their mind comprehends the task, but they have not yet mastered the physical skills required to achieve their desired outcome.

It comes with practice. Many wonder if it would have been easier to remain “asleep” instead, never knowing that you are the creator of all that surrounds you. We cannot answer that for you. Change is often challenging for humans to accept, even if you are transforming Heaven on Earth. What you do with this knowledge is up to you, but you have come too far now to turn back. Just as you cannot unring a bell, you cannot forget what you have now chosen to remember.

We leave you with one question; what will you choose to create from here?

We hope that this message has served you in some way as we stand by eagerly awaiting the opportunity to once again connect with all of you as fully conscious physical beings.

In love and light, we are your Angelic Guides

Master Saint Germain via Natalie Glasson: Revelations of Truth

StGermainVioletGlobe2Master Saint Germain: Revelations of Truth, channeled by Natalie Glasson, June 30, 2013 at http://omna.org

With love, as I unfold my energy to you, I express the truth which has been imparted to me through my own process of spiritual growth and the awakening of the Creator within my being. I am Master Saint Germain, it is always such a deep honour to connect with your energy and to speak of truth.

There are often many layers of false interpretations within the fabric of the Earth, humanity’s existence and consciousness. To speak of truth allows for many false interpretations which disguise the Creator from you to be dissolved and erased eternally. Seeking the vibration of truth within your being and projecting it into your reality for experience encourages you to be consciously aware of the Creator during your time upon the Earth.

With conscious awareness many limitations that you perceived to be true fall away allowing for new limitless ideas and inspiration to form. When we speak of truth, especially upon the Earth, there is an element of competition and survival that emerges from within many people. This is simply a misinterpretation of knowing the truth.

As you are aware, to know something is often interpreted as understanding something completely, often holding an element of confirmation. There is often no form of confirmation of the truth, divine wisdom and consciousness of the Creator but there is a knowingness within each of our souls which acts as our guiding light, source of empowerment and encouragement. To know the truth is to feel it and to sense it without truly understanding or having a need for understanding.

A spiritual knowingness of truth is very different to an intellectual knowingness of truth. It may often seem as if you are weak if you admit that you do not understand the truth and will of the Creator but this is a beautiful space that you can enter into, accessing a deep stream of freedom from within your being that offers tremendous expansion and connection with the Creator. In many ways it is as if you are letting go of any form of control that you may have upon the world, your reality or being, entering into a space that truly allows you to experience the truth of the Creator.

Often revelations of the truth of the Creator will emerge and form within you as a feeling, maybe even as the most beautiful scent that embodies your entire being. Frequently truth will emerge as energy within your being, you may not be able to express this energy but you will notice and recognise its freedom and familiarity to the Creator. Such integrations and awareness of truth cannot be interpreted verbally due to the fact that you are considering the great source and energy networks that are the Creator, trying to describe vastness in a few words.

Even as ascended masters we can often have difficulty in sharing or inspiring truth within your being. We often contemplate, how does one explain the multidimensional, expansion, all-encompassing presence of the Creator to bring forth recognition? Entering into a space of freedom and expansion allows for inspiration to arise.

I wish to share with you that often if you find yourself in an experience where you do not know the answer to a problem or are unsure as to what your next stage might be, allow yourself to enter into a space within you of freedom and expansion. Being content and breathing as the vibration of freedom and expansion allows the truth of the Creator to rise and form with your conscious awareness. Sometimes it will form into inspiration that is most understandable or other times you can send the energy out into your reality and to the situation to resolve all that needs completion.

When you experience a situation where an answer is needed and you simply cannot understand how it would be beneficial for you to react, in that moment you exist in a limited space within your being. You are hindering and constraining yourself and your magnificent inner truth. This could be due to the circumstance or to your beliefs but by entering into a space of freedom and expansion within you , you are able to access the truth that is ever flowing especially between you and the Creator.

To discover your space of freedom and expansion, allow yourself to meditate upon both freedom and expansion within your being asking to discover a haven within you that holds both vibrations. You may discover an area of your body or a sacred space such as sitting before the sea or in expansive woods. This is then a space for you to retreat to when the truth of the Creator is required within your reality. The process that I share with you encourages your empowerment and the divine flow of the Creator within your being, raising your energy vibration and dissolving all limitations from your reality, as all your actions and understanding are drawn from the abundant fountain of the Creator rather than the mind.

Every soul upon the Earth and the inner planes draws upon the same truth, wisdom and consciousness of the Creator bringing this sacred energy into creative expression and interpretation. The vibration of truth within each being is also the same; it is interpretation of the Creator that allows for so many different teachings, expressions and discoveries of the Creator’s wisdom. Your interpretation is born through the predefined goals of your soul, the dimension of anchoring for your mind and the beliefs that you hold onto. This means that there is no wrong or right answer or expression when it comes to truth but only vibrations and inspiration that are appropriate in the present moment. It is important to be mindful that you are constantly interpreting and expressing the will of the Creator in new ways as you recognise the great expansion of the Creator within you.

In 2012 there was a great focus placed upon unity and oneness, encouraging all to recognise themselves as united with all aspects of the Creator. There was a very powerful and essential purpose for this; it was to build the connections of light or networks of light between all aspects of the Creator, consciously strengthening the greater whole of the Creator. Each soul and aspect of the Creator is then able to draw upon the great wealth of divine consciousness, wisdom and truth to serve them in the new era.

This in turn offers to you more responsibility because you have a greater access to the divine fountain of energy, wisdom and sacred knowingness of the Creator. It also means that all you experience and create flows into the fountain of the Creator and the consciousness of the dimension you exist within. Each soul becomes an expression of the Creator but also a decipherer or energiser of the Creator. Your ability to consciously feel the vibrations, energy and consciousness each and every soul especially within your dimension becomes magnified.

No longer are you just pleasing and serving yourself but you are magnifying and nurturing all aspects of the Creator especially within your dimension through your physical reality. If you experience a deep seated love and peace during meditation, these sacred vibrations flow into the consciousness of all who you are connected to and all that is the Creator. If someone else experiences pain in their reality this vibration could be sensed by you on an unseen or seen level.

Many of you may have been asked by your guides to detach from the general consciousness of humanity expressing instead deep love, this means that you have connected into another consciousness pool often of a higher vibration or maybe your focus has been placed upon a different dimension within the Creator’s universe. There will always be an element of influence upon you from the consciousness pool that you are connected into and your vibrations will also serve and fuel the consciousness pool. Often people connect into certain consciousness pools because specific truths are held in different consciousness pools, through connection and the focus on unity one can merge with the truth that is needed while also sharing valuable wisdom.

During meditation you can ask to become aware of the vibration of the beautiful higher frequency consciousness pool or consciousness dimension you are currently connected with. Ask to only experience love and divine truth of the highest appropriate vibration. You may also ask if there are certain truths held within this consciousness that need to be revealed to you. Allow yourself to sit in meditation with this focus being aware of any vibrations, inspirations or sensations that may enter into your awareness. With every moment souls are bringing to light the truth of the Creator from the consciousness pool you are connected with, enhancing the knowingness of the truth within your being. Allow yourself to be open to revelations of truth.

With this understanding it is also important to be conscious of your own thoughts, judgements and actions. With the acceptance that everything and every aspect of the Creator are united in oneness and that you are also connected to a consciousness pool which is fuelling your spiritual awakening, any negative energy you create can have an impact upon all. Imagine you were judging someone, the vibration of the judgment you create would not only be sent to them but would impact upon all souls.

This may be hard to understand but imagine that every time you have a negative thought, emotion or expression from your being for another person or yourself, your loved ones are being attacked by the energy you are experience. If this was to occur and you noticed the suffering of your loved ones you would most probably place great focus upon altering your thoughts and actions. I say to you that all of humanity are your loved ones and with the desire and focus for greater energetic unity between souls there is also a need to take responsibility for the energy you are creating and putting into the world, as it impact not only you but all.

This is why we ask you to focus upon love as often as you can. Energetic unity upon the Earth is and was needed in order to create the era of love of the Earth. Unity allowed for all energetic networks upon the Earth and within each being to be healed so that all could with divine timing open up to the divine flow of the Creator. With more and more energy networks on the Earth and within your being opening the vibration of love can flow with greater abundance, building momentum for creation and the experience of absolute love on the Earth.

Let us all exist in a space of freedom and expansion to allow for the Creator’s revelations of truth.

With love,

Saint Germain

Vatican Bank Sweeping Changes – Top 3 Resign

Vatican bank president Ernst von Freyberg said 'it is clear today that we need new leadership'.

Vatican bank president Ernst von Freyberg said ‘it is clear today that we need new leadership’.

sage: Once the Pope announced that he formed a commission to investigate the Vatican Bank, it wasn’t too long before all kinds of dirt started being pulled out from under the carpet. Only a few days ago, a senior Monsignor was arrested for smuggling 20 million euro out of the country, and now top executives have resigned. (Story 1) In the US, a Cardinal has been exposed as having protected $57 million from victims of clergy sexual abuse, with permission from the Vatican. Story 1 – Vatican Bank Promises Sweeping Change as Senior Staff Resign

By John Hooper, The Guardian – July 1, 2013

http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/2013/jul/02/vatican-bank-scandal-director-resigns

Director and deputy director step down just three days after the arrest of Monsignor Nunzio Scarano over corruption allegations

Sweeping changes at the top of the Vatican’s scandal-ridden bank were announced on Monday night following the arrest of a senior church official in the latest of a string of scandals to have hit the institution.

The bank’s recently appointed president, Ernst von Freyberg, said its two top officials – the director and deputy director – had both resigned. He thanked them for their “personal dedication” but added: “It is clear today that we need new leadership.”

The departures came three days after the arrest of an official in another Vatican financial department, Monsignor Nunzio Scarano. The Italian authorities said he was a suspect in two inquiries involving alleged corruption and money laundering respectively.

Transactions made through Scarano’s accounts at the Institute for the Works of Religion (IOR) – popularly known as the Vatican bank – are central to both investigations.

The IOR, which does not lend money and is thus not technically a bank, was set up in 1942 to handle the deposits mainly of church organisations and individual clerics. But accounts are known to have been opened for outsiders and the IOR has repeatedly been at the heart of financial scandals, often involving alleged money-laundering.

A statement said the director, Paolo Cipriani, and his deputy, Massimo Tulli, had offered to step down “in the best interest of the institute and the Holy See.” Three years ago, Cipriani was placed under investigation, together with the bank’s then-president, for alleged violations of Italy’s anti-money-laundering laws.

Police seized €23m (£20m) from an IOR account at a Rome bank. But the money was later released and neither Cipriani nor the then-president has since been charged.

In a separate case, the 61-year-old Scarano, who was a banker before he became a priest, was arrested at the same scaranotime as a former intelligence officer and a financial broker. They are accused of plotting to bring €20m into Italy from Switzerland, where it had allegedly been stashed away by a family of Neapolitan shipowners seeking to avoid Italian tax.

Yesterday, Scarano was questioned for three hours by a judge in Rome, who must decide whether to confirm his arrest. Scarano’s lawyer, Silverio Sica, acknowledged that the scenario mapped out by prosecutors is true, the Associated Press reported.

But he said the defence would contest the corruption accusation on technical grounds. “We cannot deny the facts,” Sica said. “But for us, there aren’t the technical reasons for the corruption accusation, and we believe that he did this to help out his friends.”

Scarano is also under investigation on a money laundering charge, which he has denied.

Since his election in March, Pope Francis has dropped several hints that the IOR is top of his “hit list” for reform. At the end of last month, he appointed a special commission to investigate the bank, with powers to overrule its client secrecy norms.

The IOR said von Freyberg would temporarily take over the job of director. It also announced the appointment of a new acting chief risk officer with the task of overseeing compliance with international regulations and unspecified “special projects”. The first occupant of the job will be Antonio Montaresi, an Italian who has had similar responsibilities in various US banks.

The statement said the banking consultancy, Promontory, had been working since May “to strengthen the Institute’s anti-money laundering programme”. Elizabeth McCaul, CEO of Promontory Europe and former New York Superintendent of Banks, had been asked to act as a special adviser, together with the firm’s chief operating officer, Raffaele Cosimo. Their job will be to support the management.

Story 2 – Files Show Dolan Sought to Protect Church Assets

sage: The files mentioned in this article can be found on the Archdiosese website:http://www.archmil.org/reorg/clergy-offenders-info.htm

By Laurie Goodstein, The New York Times – July 1, 2013

http://www.nytimes.com/2013/07/02/us/dolan-sought-vatican-permission-to-shield-assets.html

Files released by the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Milwaukee on Monday reveal that in 2007, Cardinal Timothy F. Dolan, then the archbishop there, requested permission from the Vatican to move nearly $57 million into a cemetery trust fund to protect the assets from victims of clergy sexual abuse who were demanding compensation.

Cardinal Timothy F. Dolan in 2012. He reiterated in a statement Monday that these were “old and discredited attacks.”

Cardinal Dolan, now the archbishop of New York, has emphatically denied seeking to shield church funds as the archbishop of Milwaukee from 2002 to 2009. He reiterated in a statement Monday that these were “old and discredited attacks.”

However, the files contain a 2007 letter to the Vatican in which he explains that by transferring the assets, “I foresee an improved protection of these funds from any legal claim and liability.” The Vatican approved the request in five weeks, the files show.

The release of more than 6,000 pages of documents on Monday was hailed by victims and their advocates as a vindication and a historic step toward transparency and accountability.

They were well aware that the archives would bring unusually intense scrutiny to the country’s most high-profile prelate, Cardinal Dolan, who as president of the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops and the archbishop of New York has sought to help the church turn the corner on the era of scandal.

Cardinal Dolan has been regarded by many Catholics as part of the solution. In public appearances, he has expressed personal outrage at the harm done to children, apologized profusely and pledged to help the church and the victims heal.

But the documents lift the curtain on his role as a workaday church functionary concerned with safeguarding assets, persuading abusive priests to leave voluntarily in exchange for continued stipends and benefits, and complying with Rome’s sluggish canonical procedures for dismissing uncooperative priests who he had long concluded were remorseless and a serious risk to children.

In one case, the Vatican took five years to remove a convicted sex offender from the priesthood.

“As victims organize and become more public, the potential for true scandal is very real,” he wrote in such a request in 2003 to Cardinal Joseph Ratzinger, the head of the Vatican office charged with handling abuse cases until he became Pope Benedict XVI in 2005.

Victims on Monday called for a federal investigation into the actions of Cardinal Dolan and his predecessors, but the cardinal sought to deflect criticism by saying in a statement Monday that he welcomed the release of the documents.

The current archbishop of Milwaukee, Jerome E. Listecki, had announced his decision to release the documents inlistecki April, one day before a judicial hearing. Lawyers for abuse victims had asked a judge to compel their release.

Archbishop Listecki released a letter last week warning Catholics in his archdiocese that the documents could shake their faith, and trying to explain the actions of church leaders while offering apologies to victims.

“Prepare to be shocked,” he wrote. “There are some graphic descriptions about the behavior of some of these priest offenders.”

The files include documents from the personnel files of 42 clergy offenders with “substantiated” allegations, going back 80 years. (The names and identifying features of victims were redacted.) Also included are the legal depositions of Cardinal Dolan and another former Milwaukee archbishop, Rembert Weakland, and a retired auxiliary bishop, Richard J. Sklba.

Milwaukee harbored some of the nation’s most notorious priest pedophiles, including the Rev. Lawrence Murphy, whom a church therapist assessed as having molested as many as 200 boys during his two and a half decades teaching and leading St. John’s School for the Deaf in St. Francis, Wis., and Sigfried Widera, who faced 42 counts of child abuse in Wisconsin and California. Father Murphy died in 1998, and Father Widera committed suicide in Mexico in 2003.

In his letter, Archbishop Listecki said the documents showed that 22 priests were “reassigned to parish work after concerns about their behavior were known to the archdiocese,” and that 8 of those “reoffended after being reassigned.”

church_sex_abuse-scandal-dlAdvocates for abuse victims objected that the archdiocese did not release the files of many others accused of abuse, including priests, deacons, nuns, schoolteachers and choir directors. The files do not include any known priest offenders who were members of religious orders (like the Capuchins or Jesuits) who served in the Milwaukee Archdiocese.

“It’s still less than a complete disclosure, but it’s a giant step in the right direction,” said Jeff Anderson, a lawyer for many of the alleged victims. The documents were posted on both his Web site and the archdiocese’s, but they were arranged differently to buttress each argument.

Cardinal Dolan was deposed about his handling of abuse cases and the assets of the archdiocese in February, just before he left for Rome for the conclave to elect a new pope. The release of the documents is the byproduct of a bitter standoff in bankruptcy court between the Milwaukee Archdiocese and 575 men and women who have filed claims against it alleging that priests or other church employees had sexually abused them.

The archdiocese filed for bankruptcy in 2011, saying it was the best way to compensate the victims and resolve the controversy. It became the eighth Catholic diocese in the United States to do so. Since then, negotiations between the two sides in Milwaukee have broken down: the church has argued that about 400 of the 575 cases are invalid, while lawyers for the victims have accused the church of hiding assets.

In January, the archdiocese said it had spent about $9 million in legal and other fees in the bankruptcy process and was going broke.

In 2007, the year Cardinal Dolan asked to transfer the funds, the Wisconsin Supreme Court issued a decision that in effect lifted an unusual law that had long shielded the church from sexual abuse lawsuits.

When he was later accused of trying to shield church funds, Cardinal Dolan said on his blog in New York that it was statue“malarkey” and “groundless gossip.” Archbishop Listecki and former Auxiliary Bishop Sklba invoked a theme that many other church officials have used in the past to explain their conduct: that their missteps reflected a broader lack of awareness about child sexual abuse in society.

Archbishop Listecki wrote that he did not want to make excuses, but that church officials had relied on the advice of doctors and therapists who were “seemingly more concerned about ‘Father’ than about the children.” He said the documents would reveal “the progression and evolution of thinking on this topic.”

However, the Rev. James O’Connell, a priest in the Milwaukee Archdiocese who helped to form a group called Catholic Whistleblowers, said in an interview that he did not find this claim credible.

“I was in high school in the 1950s,” he said, “and I learned about statutory rape in high school. An adult having sexual activity with a minor is a crime. We knew about it then, so you can’t claim that social thought changed.”

Big Pharma Coming Under the Media Microscope

drugs money powersage: While the words “Big Pharma” are not overtly used below, the entire drug industry, and its government and corporate backers, is increasingly under scrutiny. This articlehttp://goldenageofgaia.com/2013/06/uk-parliament-wont-eat-gmo-but-we-are-supposed-to/ is one such piece of evidence that we, the people, are considered second-class citizens, to be kept just healthy enough to ensure only the fittest survive to be enslaved.

But now, stories are appearing all over the place – from secret research, to human guinea pigs, to unpublicized side effects, to mass marketing, to covert laws, right through to the outright enforcement of GMO usage… They all point to the one thing: we have been intentionally poisoned by our own.

Below are three seemingly “unrelated” stories, sandwiched between entertainment and sports stories meant to keep us occupied and unaware. The first involves a young doctor striving to get the details of drug research publicized and include the effects and benefits, not just the bottom dollar. Story 2 reveals that Essendon Football players in Australia have been unwittingly used as human guinea pigs to test a banned substance, with known side-effects, in the guise of a “supplement”. In the third article, we are informed that millions of our tax dollars is being spent on marketing and lobbying GMO foods.

It’s time we woke up.

Peter Doshi, in background, wants to give consumers “the full picture” on drug data. He shared an article with Kevin Fain in a Johns Hopkins cafe.

By Katie Thomas, New York Times – June 29, 2013

http://www.nytimes.com/2013/06/30/business/breaking-the-seal-on-drug-research.html?pagewanted=3&_r=0&ref=general&src=me

PETER DOSHI walked across the campus of Johns Hopkins University in a rumpled polo shirt and stonewashed jeans, a backpack slung over one shoulder. An unremarkable presence on a campus filled with backpack-toters, he is 32, and not sure where he’ll be working come August, when his postdoctoral fellowship ends. And yet, even without a medical degree, he is one of the most influential voices in medical research today.

Dr. Doshi’s renown comes not from solving the puzzles of cancer or discovering the next blockbuster drug, but from pushing the world’s biggest pharmaceutical companies to open their records to outsiders in an effort to better understand the benefits and potential harms of the drugs that billions of people take every day.

Together with a band of far-flung researchers and activists, he is trying to unearth data from clinical trials — complex studies that last for years and often involve thousands of patients across many countries — and make it public.

The current system, the activists say, is one in which the meager details of clinical trials published in medical journals, often by authors with financial ties to the companies whose drugs they are writing about, is insufficient to the point of being misleading.

There is an underdog feel to this fight, with postdocs and academics flinging stones at well-fortified corporations. But they are making headway. Last fall, after prodding by Dr. Doshi and others, the drug giant GlaxoSmithKline announced that it would share detailed data from all global clinical trials conducted since 2007, a pledge it later expanded to all products dating to 2000. Though that data has not yet been produced, it would amount to more than 1,000 clinical trials involving more than 90 drugs, a remarkable first for a major drug maker.

The European Medicines Agency, which oversees drug approvals for the European Union, is considering a policy to make trial data public whenever a drug is approved. And on June 17, the medical world saw how valuable such transparency could be, as outside researchers published a review of a spinal treatment from the device maker Medtronic. The review, which concluded that the treatment was no better than an older one, relied on detailed data the company provided to the researchers.

For years, researchers have talked about the problem of publication bias, or selectively publishing results of trials. Concern about such bias gathered force in the 1990s and early 2000s, when researchers documented how, time and again, positive results were published while negative ones were not. Taken together, studies have shown that results of only about half of clinical trials make their way into medical journals.

Problems with data about high-profile drugs have led to scandals over the past decade, like one involving contentions that the number of heart attacks was underreported in research about the painkiller Vioxx. Another involved accusations of misleading data about links between the antidepressant Paxil and the risk of suicide among teenagers.

To those who have followed this issue for years, the moves toward openness are unfolding with surprising speed.

“This problem has been very well documented for at least three decades now in medicine, with no substantive fix,” said Dr. Ben Goldacre, a British author and an ally of Dr. Doshi. “Things have changed almost unimaginably fast over the past six months.”

Much of that change is happening because of what Dr. Goldacre calls an “accident of history.” In 2009, Dr. Doshi andtamiflu his colleagues set out to answer a simple question about the anti-flu drug Tamiflu: Does it work? Resolving that question has been far harder than they ever envisioned, and, four years later, there is still no definitive answer.

But the quest to determine Tamiflu’s efficacy transformed Dr. Doshi and others into activists for transparency — and turned the tables on drug makers. Until recently, the idea that companies should routinely hand over detailed data about their clinical trials might have sounded far-fetched. Now, the onus is on the industry to explain why it shouldn’t.

IN summer 2009, Dr. Doshi received a call from Dr. Tom Jefferson, a British epidemiologist based in Rome. That year, the swine flu pandemic was spreading worldwide, and Dr. Jefferson had been hired by the British and Australian governments to update an earlier review of Tamiflu, a drug produced by the Swiss company Roche, aimed at reducing the flu’s severity and preventing more serious complications. He asked if Dr. Doshi wanted to help.

Determining Tamiflu’s efficacy had significant economic as well as health consequences. Around the world, private companies and governments — including that of the United States — were stockpiling Tamiflu in case of influenza outbreaks, and their spending accounted for almost 60 percent of the drug’s $3 billion in sales in 2009.

The review of Tamiflu was being conducted under the auspices of the Cochrane Collaboration, a well-regarded network of independent researchers, including Dr. Jefferson, who evaluate medical treatments’ effectiveness by analyzing all available research.

At the time, Dr. Doshi knew little about clinical trials or even much about the drug industry. But he knew Dr. Jefferson. Dr. Doshi, after receiving undergraduate and master’s degrees in anthropology and East Asian studies from Brown and Harvard, had shifted focus and was pursuing a doctorate at M.I.T., studying the intersection of medicine and politics.

He met Dr. Jefferson, a prominent skeptic of the flu vaccine, after researching whether the Centers for Disease Control was exaggerating the deadliness of the disease.

“We were both lone wolves in the field of influenza,” Dr. Doshi recalled.

Dr. Jefferson had conducted a Cochrane review of Tamiflu’s effectiveness a few years earlier, concluding that the drug reduced the risk of complications from the flu. He assured Dr. Doshi and other researchers on his team that the update would be fairly simple.

But just as their work was getting under way, a simple comment arrived on the Cochrane Web site that changed the course of the research and would ultimately fuel a worldwide effort to force drug companies to be more transparent.

The author of that comment, Dr. Keiji Hayashi, had no connection to the Cochrane group; he was a pediatrician in Japan who had prescribed Tamiflu to children in his practice, but had come to question its efficacy. He was curious about one of the main studies on which Dr. Jefferson had relied in his previous analysis.

Called the Kaiser study, it pooled the results of 10 clinical trials. But Dr. Hayashi noticed that the results of only two of those trials had been fully published in medical journals. Given that details of eight trials were unknown, how could the researchers be certain of their conclusion that Tamiflu reduced risk of complications from flu?

“We should appraise the eight trials rigidly,” Dr. Hayashi wrote.

Reviews by the Cochrane group are known for being among the most thoroughly researched medical analyses available. But in trying to answer the pediatrician’s question, Dr. Jefferson realized that there was a flaw: they relied too heavily on the assumption that the articles published in journals accurately represented the results of all clinical trials that had been conducted.

Tom Jefferson, an epidemiologist, worked with Dr. Doshi in reviewing research about Tamiflu’s effectiveness.

As he tried to track down the authors of the Kaiser study and the two published trials, Dr. Jefferson said he hit dead ends: One author said he had moved offices and no longer had the files; another said he had never seen the primary trial data, instead relying on a summary analysis provided by Roche. All the authors suggested that he contact the company.

“We took it on faith — on trust,” Dr. Jefferson, 59, said recently in a phone interview. Dr. Hayashi’s question had tested that faith. Dr. Jefferson began typing each new discovery in a private journal he called Hayashi’s Problem, which, he said, “charted my transformation from Dr. Jekyll to Mr. Hyde.”

Dr. Doshi said that medicine “relies on hierarchies of trust.” He added: “A patient is not going to be in a position to review the entire evidence base themselves. But they trust that there is a watchdog out there.”

As they dug into the Tamiflu research, Dr. Doshi said, he realized that such a watchdog didn’t exist. Instead, he said, “we have partial watchdogs who see part of the full picture.” It became his mission to see the full picture.

Having struck out with the authors of the disputed Kaiser paper and the two other published trials, Dr. Jefferson approached Roche itself, asking for the underlying data from the missing trials. But when he declined to sign a confidentiality agreement, Roche decided not to cooperate with the researchers.

Without more complete data about the clinical trials, the Cochrane group decided that it could not include the disputed study that summarized those results. In December 2009, the team reported that Tamiflu could not be shown to reduce complications like pneumonia or hospitalizations.

The British Medical Journal, which printed the team’s conclusions, also published its own investigation, showing that Roche had hired ghost writers to author some of the articles involving Tamiflu, and that those writers had said they were under pressure to highlight positive messages about the drug.

Roche responded that hiring such writers was common industry practice at the time of the articles, and it rejected the idea that they had been pressured to write positively about the drug.

The articles in the British journal created a sensation, and the Cochrane Collaboration’s efforts became a cause célèbre. “Everyone knows about publication bias,” said Dr. Steven Woloshin, a professor of medicine at the Dartmouth Institute for Health Policy and Clinical Practice and an advocate of more widespread sharing of clinical trial data. “But they just had so much energy and they brought so much attention to it.”

The group’s efforts seemed to make a difference: After the articles in the British journal, Roche turned over partial rochecopies of study reports, amounting to a little more than 3,000 pages. Then, in 2011, the European Medicines Agency turned over more than 22,000 pages of documents for 19 trial reports to Dr. Jefferson and his team.

The door had been opened. As they read through the records, the researchers discovered the importance of documents called clinical study reports, which are thousands of pages long and contain details as varied as descriptions of trial protocol and design and the ingredients of the placebo pills.

“We used to know that there was a published paper and there were data behind it,” said Dr. Fiona Godlee, the editor of the British Medical Journal. “But people haven’t talked about these things, like clinical study reports, that are now being talked about a great deal.” Last fall, the journal said it would publish the results of clinical trials only if drug companies and researchers agreed to provide data upon request.

In April, Roche said it would make available to the Cochrane researchers clinical study reports for all Roche-sponsored trials of Tamiflu. Dr. Jefferson, Dr. Doshi and their colleagues hope to complete another update to their review of the drug by year-end.

Some said it was a shame that it took this long for the company to relent. “All these years later, and we still don’t know if Tamiflu is effective,” said Dr. Harlan Krumholz, the Yale cardiologist who oversaw the review of Medtronic’s bone treatment. “It’s perplexing to have a billion-dollar drug, and you’re still not willing to share everything you’ve got to know whether this thing is effective and safe.”

THOUGH the Tamiflu question is not yet resolved, the Cochrane researchers have succeeded in a bigger way: by helping to change the conversation around companies’ responsibility to reveal drug trial data.

Drug companies do not always credit the Cochrane Collaboration. In February, Roche followed Glaxo’s lead and announced that it, too, would release detailed clinical data to outside researchers, upon request. But Daniel O’Day, chief operating officer of pharmaceuticals at Roche, denied that its pledge had been motivated by the Tamiflu experience. He said Roche has provided data to “thousands” of researchers.

Mr. O’Day said “there were probably errors on both sides” in how the Cochrane researchers and Roche communicated with each other, and said the relationship deteriorated after Dr. Jefferson refused to sign a confidentiality agreement. He said the company was trying to rebuild its relationship with the Cochrane researchers, but that it stood by the safety and efficacy of Tamiflu.

In 2010, Roche commissioned researchers at the Harvard School of Public Health to conduct a re-analysis of Tamiflu clinical data, which largely confirmed the positive conclusions of the Kaiser study.

Mr. O’Day asserted that the company’s transparency pledge had arisen from “the call from society in general for greater transparency of the clinical trials that we have.” But others say the Cochrane researchers are largely responsible for that call for transparency.

Andrew Witty, Glaxo’s C.E.O., said in an interview that his promise to provide detailed clinical data had grown out of a companywide effort, initiated soon after he became chief in 2008, that would “really ensure that we were more in step with where I thought, frankly, society and the world was moving.”

glaxoGlaxo, moreover, was in need of an image rehabilitation. Last year, it pleaded guilty to criminal charges and agreed to pay $3 billion in fines after the United States Justice Department accused the company, based in London, of failing to report safety data about its diabetes drug Avandia, and of publishing misleading information about Paxil, the antidepressant, in a medical journal.

The settlement, which also included civil penalties over marketing of other drugs, was the largest ever involving a pharmaceutical company.

“We don’t see any reason for this information to be held out of the public domain,” Mr. Witty said, “provided that the people who are interrogating the information are legitimate researchers with a legitimate question to ask.”

In a twist, Roche now finds itself on the same side as the Cochrane researchers — and against many in its own industry — in a debate over what kind of data the European Medicines Agency should be making public.

On Monday, the agency released a draft policy, expected to take effect next year, in which it would release clinical trial data whenever it approved a new drug. While Roche and Glaxo have supported the policy, the Pharmaceutical Research and Manufacturers of America, a major industry group, and other drug companies have opposed it.

John J. Castellani, chief executive of PhRMA, said the industry had championed open-source efforts to develop better methods for testing cancer drugs, for example. But proposals like those from the Cochrane team and the European agency go too far, he said.

“If you dump onto the sidewalk all the data and you include commercially protected information,” he said, “then you’re essentially giving to competitors what we invested billions of dollars in.”

Others warned that such a policy could discourage drug companies from investing in Europe. “If you, on the other hand, say, ‘You guys are bad actors, we want to cut your prices, we want to take your confidential data and share it with any one of your competitors,’ you don’t get the same feeling of encouragement,” Christopher A. Viehbacher, C.E.O. of the French pharmaceutical company Sanofi, told reporters in Brussels on Monday, according to Reuters.

Industry officials and regulators in the United States say the public already has access to vast amounts of information about clinical trials. The basic results of all clinical trials must now be registered in a federal clearinghouse, for example, and the Food and Drug Administration publishes staff reviews and other documents when it approves a new drug.

The F.D.A. has said that it is monitoring the developments in Europe but that federal laws in the United States restrict what types of information can be released, particularly data that could reveal personal or commercially confidential information.

Cochrane group members point to the Medtronic study as an example of the value of a neutral perspective.

In 2011, Medtronic awarded a $2.5 million grant to Yale and asked it to oversee a detailed review of trial data for Infuse, a bioengineered material in spinal fusions to treat back pain. The company was facing claims that it had published misleading information about the treatment, and it turned over its data in an effort to address those criticisms.

Two teams that examined the data came to similar conclusions: Infuse appeared to be no better than an older treatment, and may pose added risks.

EARLIER this month, Dr. Doshi opened what he hopes will be a new chapter in his quest for greater understanding of Censored2clinical trials. He and several other researchers published what amounted to an ultimatum to drug companies: publish your data, or we’ll do it for you.

Under the plan, researchers would publish articles summarizing trial results in cases where the underlying data has already been released. In isolated cases, such information has been made public through litigation and Freedom of Information Act requests.

“It’s really neat to see a larger opportunity for a larger impact,” he said. “Tamiflu just happened to be the lever that opened that door.”

Inelia Benz: WTF Is Going On? . . . I don’t know about you, but I started feeling the energies yesterday . . .

. . . and it’s continued and worsened today. First The Oracle Report substantiated it, and now Inelia’s Newsletter! Please excuse me if I’m retreating a bit right now . . . Read on:

Dear Friends,

Welcome to July 2013!! Here is my latest article:

It started near the beginning of June, and it is set to continue and increase until around October or November.

Last year, when people were talking about huge physical changes happening in our Paradigm in December 2012, I kept feeling that nothing would happen at a physical level, but that in the summer of 2013, something was up.

And here we are!

A few weeks ago, I was driving down the street, and very suddenly I got the distinct feeling that Gaia had began her physical expression of higher dimension. That the planet consciousness was going from holding space at an energetic level, to holding 5D at a physical level.

At the same time, the polarized energies of light and dark, which have been battling on the planet for thousands of years, increased their output to mind blowing amounts. This is causing all sorts of extreme behavior, reactions, beginnings and endings for the people of the planet.

The following weeks, and now into July, there is a sense of observation without judgment. This last piece, the no-judgment, is very important and this message has been coming in strong from various individuals, situations and also downloads. It also includes feeling judged, or wanting to be judged in a positive light.

This “battle” between light and dark is very real. It is increasing every day. Gaiacan be interpreted to have “taken sides” to the light end of the spectrum. And is now going to start physical manifestations of this “side taking”. I’m not really sure how this is going to pan out. We might fall into fear, thinking that Gaia is angry and we are going to see lots of disasters around the planet. And maybe we are right. But the thought that crossed my mind was, well, we are inhabiting Gaia sentient material, our own physical bodies! Just imagine, everyone on the planet has a physical body, which is sentient, which is an elemental of the planet Earth. Which is directly connected to Gaia.

We, as a species are becoming more and more aware of how we “work”, how we “function”. The more aware we become, the more able and empowered. We are able to see how we, as a divine, eternal, being, can have a chosen (by us) limited experience. We become conscious of what those limits are, we choose what they are, and thus morph and transform our lives accordingly.

If you are interested in exploring how limits are constructed, work, how we can use them for our advantage, or remove them, get the talk “Limitations – Why Do We Create Them?” as it goes into great depth about it. Or you can simply read the huge library of articles at ascension101, as just about all the articles deal with one or more of our limitations and how to become aware of it, and process it.

So, two very important movements forwards for our species this month, one isbecoming aware of how we construct our experience via boundaries and limitations, and the other is not to judge those boundaries! Not to judge ourselves, others, or wanting good or bad judgments for ourselves or others.

What can we do?

  • I will be launching a free to join, global experiment in consciousness in a few days. This will be totally awesome. So stay tuned!
  • Don’t judge yourself or others, and don’t wish for judgment whether positive or negative.
  • Reconnect with Gaia (great free meditation to do this is in the Tools section of ascension101) and give her permission to express at a higher vibration.
  • Take off your shoes and walk barefoot for at least an hour per day. It doesn’t really matter where, but outdoors is best, wherever the sun has been hitting the ground.
  • Enjoy stuff! Eat tasty food, smell the roses, play games, go to a park and roll on the grass!
  • Watch a sunset or sunrise this week.
  • Find things to enjoy about other human beings in your environment. It could be the way they look, a smile, clothing, it doesn’t matter what it is. Just find something to enjoy about other human beings.
  • When people, or even yourself, go a little “crazy” around you this summer, don’t fret and (again) don’t judge. Simply observe.
  • Smile :)
  • Take time off from the internet, tv, radio and other media outlets.
  • Release attachment to result.
  • Step outside the box of limitations.
  • View this time like you are stepping into the most amazing experience of your life and allow that amazing experience to manifest.

Remember, the energies are going crazy at the moment, both ends of the spectrum are increasing their volume up to max. This will blow a lot of fuses and a lot of minds. At the same time, this can be a time of great enjoyment andjoy/light/love (because of the light and Gaia energy increase), so don’t let the dark end of the spectrum suck you into the drama. Enjoy this time!

Hugs
Inelia Benz
