A Prayer for People and Planet: 500 Clergy Hold ‘Historic’ Mass Gathering for Standing Rock

Roughly a hundred protesters and clergy members shut down the North Dakota state Capitol with a lawn prayer circle

In a “historic” show of interfaith solidarity, 500 clergy members prayed along the banks of North Dakota’s Cannonball River on Thursday where they “bore witness with the Standing Rock Sioux Nation,” which has faced intimidation, violence, and arrests for protecting their sacred land and water supply from the threats of a massive oil pipeline.

According to the Episcopal News Service, “The interfaith group spent more than five hours on site, marching, singing hymns, sharing testimony, and calling others to join them in standing with the more than 200 tribes who have committed their support to the Sioux Nation as they protest the route of the Dakota Access Pipeline (DAPL).”

Later, roughly a hundred protesters and clergy members held a prayer circle on the lawn of the North Dakota state Capitol in Bismarck, forcing the police to order a lock-down of the building. “Highway Patrol Lt. Tom Iverson said 14 people were arrested in the Capitol’s judicial wing for refusing to leave the building. Iverson said the protesters, who were holding a sit-in and singing prayer hymns, faced disorderly conduct charges,” AP reported.

Caro Gonzales, a Native American activist, told reporters that the water protectors had come to the Capitol to deliver a letter to Gov. Jack Dalrymple in support of the tribe and to ask “why he has ordered riot police to engage in police brutality at Standing Rock.” Afterwards, a group of roughly 100 protesters marched from the Capitol to the governor’s residence, where they were met by “dozens of riot police,” Gonzales said.

Throughout the months-long standoff, Dalrymple, a Republican, has routinely sided with the pipeline company. After falsely declaringthat the water protectors were risking public safety by engaging in “unlawful acts,” he called a state of emergency, which paved the way for an increasingly aggressive and overblown police response to the peaceful protests.

On Wednesday, about 100 police in riot gear fired mace, pepper spray, and rubber bullets at point-blank range at water protectorspraying waist-deep in water. The group of roughly 300 protectors had attempted to cross the Cannonball River to pray for the threatened land on the opposite side.

The week prior, more than 140 water protectors were arrested after police conducted a military-style raid of their encampment. Armed with tanks, a sound cannon, an armored truck, and bulldozer, the scene was described as “all-out war…waged on Indigenous protectors.”

During the day of prayer Thursday, the clergy members marched to the bridge that was the site of last week’s attack and “ceremonially burned a copy of a 600-year-old document,” AP reported. Known as the Doctrine of Discovery, “the document from the 1400s sanctioned the taking of land from Indigenous peoples.”

“It was very moving to be there in solidarity,” said Philadelphia-based Bishop Dwayne Royster. “I wanted to be present as an African-American clergy person to let the people at Standing Rock understand that we as African Americans need them to know that we stand with them in their fight.”

Similar acts of solidarity, particularly by people of faith, have grown in recent days. On Wednesday, nine rabbis, rabbinical students, and Jewish community members were arrested in Philadelphia for staging a civil disobedience action at a downtown TD Bank, one of the biggest financiers of the pipeline project. Nearly 300 rabbis have signed a statement in opposition to Dakota Access.

As the pipeline’s construction edges closer to the Missouri River, which the Standing Rock Sioux is hoping to protect, with little hope of abatement, pipeline opponents worldwide are planning a massDay of Action on Nov. 15, asking the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and the incoming U.S. president “stop the Dakota Access Pipeline—and all those after it.”

The call to action reads:

The Army Corps fast-tracked the Dakota Access Pipeline without proper consultation, and as a result, bulldozers are approaching Standing Rock as we speak. But with coordinated, massive demonstrations across the country, we’ll make it clear that this powerful movement will not allow the Obama administration or the incoming President to sacrifice Indigenous rights, our water, or our climate—they must reject this pipeline.

Set Sail for Happiness

Galactic Free Press's picture

God said:

Have an outcry of Love. No longer echo hardship as a matter of course. Okay, you have a pebble in your shoe. Okay, you have a sliver in your finger. Locate the Heaven you ache for.

I hear this outcry from you over and over again:

"Beloved God, I'm so tired of my heart's aching. There is so much for me to be utterly happy about, yet I'm not. God, how do I remove my angst? Once and for all, can't I be done with heartbreak? Must heartache be the permanent state of my malcontent as if it had been bequeathed to me?"

Beloveds, burst through the angst. There is another way for you to think. If you truly don't want the angst, let go of it. You don't have to keep it. You don't have to keep opening old wounds. It is an old wound that stabs at you. It is an old wound that tells you: "You are being left out of the party."

There was something that was supposed to be yours, and it was given to someone else. You were overlooked -- again. You find yourself in a tizzy of being overlooked, as if being overlooked were the worst thing that could happen to you. Yet somehow, you are the one who overlooks yourself.

It is sort of like tearing your own heart out. How many times and variant ways can you snip at your own heart when you could be giving your heart happiness? When you are so fussy, it's hard to be happy. You make yourself displeased. It is you who does not treat yourself well, for then, why wouldn't you bequeath yourself happiness in an everyday tempo?

You carry around the idea that you are deprived. You say to yourself: "See? Deprived again."

There is a kind of pining away that you lean into and seem to comfort yourself with. Your heart gallops here and there, and you name disappointment as your wont. Another disappointment targeted to you, and another.

Who says that you cannot allow what is called imperfection? You may overlook that happiness is a possibility. You were denied in the past, and you continue to harp on what you were denied. The perfection you seek, you deny yourself. What to do about this? How to grant yourself your wishes once and for all?

How do We grant you fullness of heart instead of emptiness of heart? The Kingdom of Heaven is for you as well as for everyone else. What intervenes?

You like the idea of asking yourself for completion, yet it would seem that you herald dissatisfaction. Can your happiness be malfeasance? Can it really? What if the Universe is treating you well? What if you do not have to pay so much for the shreds of happiness that you pick at?

You know, it doesn't feel good when you bargain with Life. You pay too high a price for not accepting good fortune. Goodness knows you have enough good fortune, yet somehow it is not enough, and you pay too much for proving your lack instead of plenty. There is a knot in your heart that you cannot seem to unwind.

You tell yourself that you deserve better, and then you make it difficult. You spot blemishes. You reveal them. And the price you pay is high, and you make yourself pay the price again and again.

Come out of this closet you have put yourself in. Be good to yourself. Reward yourself. Divine a different lay of the land. Do not peruse the landscape of yourself as much as you have been. Let yourself sail. It is you who asks too much of the world and of yourself. It is you who overlooks your merit. You are the hard taskmaster. You weigh the scales against you.

Now, start to declare happiness for yourself. Get out of this dark closet you put yourself in. The Sun is shining. Declare the Sun is shining. Declare this as your New Truth.

"OFFERINGS OF THE SUN AND GAIA: BIRCH - NEW BEGININNGS"
BY WISE OWL STELLA

First Quarter Moon Phase: step out of comfort zone; take action

Moon in Pisces

Aspect of the Aeon Sophia (Wisdom): Kamala, Goddess of the Lotus, Goddess Who Transcends Limitations, Goddess Who Leaves No One Behind

Aspect of the Aeon Thelete (Will): Elias, God of the West

Skill: mentally adjust to new energetics

True Alignments: bridging or forging links, transmission of information, airing out and clearing out, constructive, mental adjustments, infrastructure, taking time to reflect, sparks of creativity, new opportunities

Catalysts for Change: sense of unease, loss of interest, holding on to the past, anger, shadow sides come out as people react and project their feelings on to others, settling, pretense, difficulty adjusting

Sabian Symbol for the Solar-Lunar Month: "the Moon shining across a lake" (clarity, revelations, bridging, inner calm)

Sabian Symbol for the Solar-Lunar Year: "the magic carpet of Oriental imagery" (transcending the unraveling control paradigm, the narrative of humanity's adventure toward liberty)

"A woman draws aside two dark curtains that closed the entrance to a sacred pathway."

"A new continent rises out of the ocean."

"A sculptor's vision is taking form."

"A path through the woods rich in autumn coloring."

"Indians making camp in new territory."

These are the Sabian symbols, the frequencies of energy, that are in effect as the two dynamos of our solar system, the Sun and the Black Moon, begin their long awaited, once a year embrace that lasts for three days.

What do these images symbolize to you?

The Consort Luminaries, the Sun and the Black Moon, bring the brightest light possible, serving the cause of rebirth. A reunion occurs in order to bring balance...

From Everyman to Everyone – Part 1/2

everymanNo, I’m not following the political scene. And I’mnot really – being very honest – writing to the followers of the political scene, starting … now!

I’ve been given my new instructions (read: “release”) and they’re to back out of the political scene. (1)

My role, as AAM has stated on a number of occasions, is not to enter into the lists, grappling with the dark; it’s to build the new.

But that’s not why I’m writing. I’m writing because I’m amazed at something Archangel Michael said that I came across recently and only “got” now. It’s a very valuable realization which I’d like to use for a double purpose. (And I’m sorry it’s a bit long. I’ll cut it in two.)

First, it allows us to hear an archangel instructing his servant in what the servant’s role is. So many people wonder what their role is.

Well, here we have an example of a celestial giving marching orders to a terrestrial. He speaks in plain language and communicates it just the way you’d expect. That’s the first purpose of this share: To illustrate the assignment of a mission.

Second, it allows us to watch the process of paradigmatic breakthrough in the moment – as it’s happening, because I wrote what follows as it happened.

We’d been discussing the risk of touch with the collective through elevated spiritual experiences, and, in the process, he restated a part of my mission. (2)

“There is much to be said for Everyman, and that is part of the role you play. Yes, you are a pillar. You are an anchor. You are an informant. (3) But you’re also playing the role of Everyman – with curiosity, with exploration, with insight. So our desire is not to separate you from the collective. Let go of the fear.” (4)

But the example serves other purposes beyond showing a celestial charging his servant.

It illustrates a part of the process of paradigmatic breakthrough – the part from cognitive dissonance to dawning awareness. The process of paradigmatic breakthrough in total is:

  • Normality
  • Cognitive Dissonance
  • Dawning Awareness
  • Realization/Paradigmatic Breakthrough
  • Paradigm Shift/Reorganization

Archangel Michael’s use of the term “Everyman” – which I think was purposeful – had a transformative effect on me when I got it. I hadn’t even realized I was in cognitive dissonance.

In the next part, I’d like to follow the experience of paradigmatic breakthrough from cognitive dissonance to dawning awareness – which is as far as it’s proceeded so far.

(Concluded in Part 2, below.)

This article is posted current. It and one or two before it throw out the chronology of the articles that follow.`

(2) Other parts are financial wayshower, interpreter of galactic culture to terrestrials, sacred partner, etc. We all of us have more than one mission.

(3) News gatherer now and, later, interpreter of galactic culture. No, not that other kind of informant.

(4) Archangel Michael in a personal reading with Steve Beckow through Linda Dillon, Nov. 11, 2015.

In terms of reassuring me that my awareness writing was worthwhile, he said on another occasion:

“I beg of you, do not assume that when you write of what you are calling ‘the inner work,’ this does not have profound effect because the focus of the leadership movement, right now, is on the inner work.” (Archangel Michael in a personal reading with Steve Beckow through Linda Dillon, June 7, 2015.)

From Everyman to Everyone – Part 2/2

dissonance 2

Team signalling cognitive dissonance: “Ugh” (right) and “Are you kidding?”

(Concluded from Part 1, above.)

Again, longish post.

I haven’t had the full breakthrough, or realization, yet. But I’m in the part of the process I call “dawning awareness.”

My cognitive dissonance arises from not being able to realize love as universal. This is a silly obstacle, really, because I already have realized it as transformational – which is the same.

It’s purely a self-generated, intellectual barrier, but it’s a stumbling block nonetheless. I’m coming to see how much our beliefs close doors for us – or open them.

Maybe I just don’t like the word “universal.” It could be anything. For whatever reason, the word doesn’t work for me.

I think AAM knew that. I think he knew that I could get “Universality” as “Everyman.” And I’ll bet he knew why that would interest various aspects of me.

Let me share that. Picture a young boy of nine, escaping the family discordance by hiding himself away in his bedroom reading the classics of all ages.

One stream of that was the Anglo-Saxon tradition of Everyman. I even read Everyman Classics as well as Landmark Classics and Classics Illustrated – Peirs Plowman, Canterbury Tales, the kings and wueens of England, hopping as I went from book to book.

“Everyman” raises for me myths and tales of Robin Hood, King Richard, King Arthur, the Knights of the Round Table. Later this line o reading took in Richard Rolle, the Cloud of Unknowing, Julian of Norwich, and so on.

I experience the moment of watching myself poring over all these books as a young child and man and thrill at the word “Everyman.” That initial remembrance began the process of dawning awareness.

So he says that I’m to play that role. I can do that. Yes, I can deeply get Everyman. I love the idea.

Why can I get Everyman and not Universality? I can’t explain it to you. Paradigms don’t care whether you can explain them or not. They’re simply a better cut at what’s so.

Moreover, breakthrough circumvents the mind so why expect to understand it? We’ve tried to understand the problem with the mind up till now and it’s only ended in confusion. Why not bypass the mind and simply “get” it.

Even though I haven’t gotten this one in its full glory yet, it’s reorganizing my life as we speak.

I almost feel my chest puff out. I like this role. Realization will probably come out of assuming and playing this role, consciously.

I see a new file opening – all the people I’ve admired in my life who played the role of Everyman – Moses, Ben Hur, Socrates, Marcus Aurelius, Epictetus – oh my gosh, this organizes all that knowledge. Ker-chunk. Ker-chunk.

(Yes, I acknowledge the male bias in my early reading and viewing.)

This gives matters the over-arching context that I lacked. I’ve been studying Everyman all my life. (I now get it deeper. Dawning awareness continues to unfold.)

Student politics, Transactional Analysis, Cultural History, Popular Culture, Sociology, Spirituality, encounter groups, enlightenment intensives – there’s a straight-line to it and that’s the study of Everyman. (I see and, seeing, I feel release. The truth has set me free again, even in this small matter.)

(More.) Patterns in behavior, patterns in speech, patterns in spacing and positioning, patterns in gestures and expressions – oh my Gawd, I’ve been doing this all my life.

What is Everyman to me?

Everyman is love. Everyman is compassion. Everyman is generosity. Everyman is the service, support, and defence of others. Everyman is an evolved state of consciousness. What else does it mean to me? All else springs from what it means to me.

To me, Everyman is not male and not female, but androgyny.

But I can understand that women may wish to use the metaphor, “Everywoman.” Whatever metaphor works for you. There’s no right or wrong here. We’re bypassing the barriers of the mind.

For me, Everyman is androgyny, Adam/Eve Caedmon, the human template, the essential, perfect, basic, natural and normal human being … you and me.

Everyman exists at all levels of enlightenment. Everyman is the pilgrim on the journey we all take. Everyman is our past, present, and future.

(Dawning awareness continues.)

Other elements of my knowledge fall into place. I’ve only lived eight lives on Earth. Under the circumstances, of course I’d be studying humanity. It makes perfect sense.

And it isn’t a phony interest. I’m genuinely interested in all human and divine aspects of the human society I find myself in.

What a strange thing for me to say, but paradigmatic breakthrough doesn’t care if it sounds strange.

I can do this. I can play the role of Everyman. But I’ll only do it if you’ll join me.

Everyman needs Everyman … or, if you like … Everywoman. (2) Otherwise I may as well be talking to the mirror.

Don’t think I think this is the end of the unfoldment. I can well see the next step, from Everyman to Everyone. Clever boss.

I’m not doing this for self-promotion, puffery, one-upmanship. You know, at age seventy, I can honestly say I’ve had everything I want. I’m now here for the fun of it and to serve.

Every man, woman and child playing “Everyman” – or “Everywoman” – is a definite improvement on what we have now.

I’m doing this to open a new pathway in awareness. And I’m doing it because it profoundly interests me.

For those who can realize Universality, bless you for your piece of the puzzle.

Here’s a second way. We are Everyman and Everywoman. And as soon as I get this paradigmatic breakthrough waiting to fully blossom … then I’ll go for “Everyone.”

This article is posted current. It and one or two before it throw out the chronology of the articles that follow.
