THE PLANETS start the week quietly, without major aspects on Monday and Tuesday. With the Moon in Libra on these two days, perhaps the lull in other planetary activity will enable us better access to the balance and inner harmony that Libra represents.

Ultimately, Libra calls for cooperation — both inwardly, between the different parts of our psyches, and outwardly, between the self and others. When the Moon is in Libra, most will feel drawn to choose the roads that lead to greater internal and external harmony.

RETROGRADE VENUS brings up themes from the past through aspects to Uranus and Chiron on Wednesday. We may unexpectedly meet up with an old friend or lover, or need to rethink how we want to spend our time and money.

The purpose here is to get clear on what we really value, and what brings us joy and creative satisfaction. The Venus-Uranus trine indicates we’re ready to move on, to embrace the new, and yet the Venus-Chiron quincunx reveals that we have some concerns about letting go and closing the door on what we used to find fulfilling.

WE CONTINUE to mull things over on Thursday, when Mercury also forms minor but challenging aspects with Chiron and Uranus. With Mercury in cautious Virgo, we are wanting to be very sure that we have considered every angle of the question at hand before we make a final decision — but Chiron in Pisces represents the opposite tactic, that of letting go of the need to have every detail figured out, and trusting that we will be inspired and guided to make decisions that will be best for us going forward.

At the same time, Uranus is also in conversation with Mercury, perhaps confusing us with third options that we hadn’t considered previously. This may be a good day to be flexible in our thinking, but to postpone important decisions until we feel more grounded.

ON FRIDAY, the Sun acts as a trigger for the effects of the Saturn-Pluto semisquare. This aspect has been in effect off and on since last November, and has increased in strength over the past few weeks. Here’s what astrologer Robert Hand writes, in his bookHoroscope Symbols, about what we may experience when Saturn and Pluto interact:

“Transformations that have to do with shrinking or hardening. To deal with circumstances that are increasingly rigid or restrictive. Difficult circumstances against which one may rail violently. The ability to contend with extreme difficulty and still come out ahead.”

It is, of course, the last sentence in that paragraph that I prefer to remember — especially the part about coming out ahead! The other good news is that we are now completing this Saturn-Pluto semisquare, so we can start to wrap up some of the issues it has represented for us. It also helps that Saturn is now moving forward, helping us come to terms with whatever transformational experiences we’ve been working with.

ON SATURDAY, Mars is involved in minor challenging aspects with both Neptune and Mercury. Mars represents personal will, how we direct our energies to achieve what we want, and the assertive/aggressive side of our nature.

While Saturday’s aspects are minor, it may be best to soften our expectations about having things go our way or even getting acknowledged for our efforts. If frustrations arise, physical activity is usually a good outlet for the energies, as long as we’re not doing something that requires focus and safety goggles.

THE SUN enters Virgo in the early hours on Sunday (at 3:37am PDT). Thus begins the last month of the current season, leading up to the Libra Equinox, on September 23 this year.

Virgo is the sign of the harvest, and provides the focus needed for clearly discriminating between what is worth reaping and keeping, and what should be discarded. Virgo’s focus is very practical, and yet it also contains idealism, and the desire to be of service — most often in a tangible, useful way.

Our next eclipse is in Virgo, and is just four weeks from now (on September 12 or 13, depending on your location). This will be a Solar Eclipse, a time of new beginnings. We can begin now to prepare for that eclipse by contemplating the work we feel called to do, and considering our next steps toward manifesting that work more fully in the “real world.”

There’s a lot of heat out there these days… external and internal.

I guess you could call it good news… the high for today has dropped from 103 to 102 here in LA. The heat has been so bad it has affected our ability to be creative and get things done. I am very much looking forward to this being over. I walked the dogs yesterday at sunset and it was still 87 outside. Doable, but definitely sweaty and unpleasant, like walking in blankets of heat.

My female friend had her MRI yesterday and we need to hear back from the doctor, but they did not say there were any obvious abnormalities after she suffered from the hit and run. We did have the police come by the house and show us six photos to ID the guy. Only one of them looked like an older version of the driver, and was probably his father.

She has needed to put ice on her head and neck to reduce brain swelling, causing fatigue and disorientation. We watched “Mad Max: Fury Road” last night and that did not help. Hardly any story and a really silly movie. Very violent and loaded with predictive programming, with a key one being that everyone goes sterile after some sort of apocalyptic event.

We finally closed the other page so that all my public activities can be placed here and not divided between two. In the old days of Facebook there were problems that made some people not able to subscribe to the original page, hence we created this one. For whatever reason this one got to be more popular, so it will be good to keep it to just one.

I was delighted to hear this past week that we are headed into an incredible El Nino season that will drench us with at least two years’ worth of rain, most likely. The incredible thing for me was how every single media outlet I read the news in focused on the negative, floods and mudslides, and said that even though this is probably the biggest one they’ve ever seen, you’d better not stop being afraid…. you’d better not think the drought will be over!

Look… can’t they just admit it? That this is fantastic? We will absorb the mudslides and the floods. We will get through it. We are not going to complain about water falling from the sky at this point. If we get a lot of it at once, so be it.
