Many years ago, my husband and I went to a boy scouts' cookout. They made this dinner and we liked it so well that I kept it in mind to make at home. Instead of cooking it in an open pit, I bake it in my oven. It is simple to make. This recipe serves 3-4 depending upon the size you make. Boy Scout Dinner 1 pound ground beef, browned in a skillet 4-5 potatoes, diced medium 3-4 carrots, diced medium 1 small onion, sliced small Salt, pepper, garlic salt to taste Ketchup Instructions: Brown about 1# of ground beef in your frying pan. Drain the grease. Cut up about 4-5 potatoes into small pieces Cut up about 3-4 carrots into small pieces Slice some onion Tear off large enough pieces of aluminum foil to hold your dinner. Place some ground beef, potatoes, carrots, onion, and seasonings in each piece of aluminum foil. Fold the foil over and pinch the edges shut. Repeat for each dinner you want to make. Place in a 375 degree oven for about 45 minutes, or until vegetables are fork tender. Serve with ketchup.
