Thanks Jim and

Thanks to Roger bringing out this info here. Everyone should watch the REAL AVATAR YOUTUBE and see if you too can help the tribal people in your own way. THEY ARE IN REAL TROUBLE NOW AND FUTURE. WHO IS THIS VEDANTA PLC? DID THEY OBTAIN THE CONCERNED GOVT'S PERMISSION TO ESTABLISH THEIR COMPANY. THE CONCERNED GOVT. AUTHORITIES SHOULD TAKE REAL AVATAR ACTION AND SAVE THE BEAUTIFUL MOUTAINEOUS AREAS, WHICH THE LOVELY PEOPLE LIVING THERE SHALL NOT GIVE UP FOR THEIR LIVING. SURE, LET US THINK AND OBSERVE THAT SOMEBODY IS LISTENING TO IMMEDIATE AND REMEDIAL ACTION SOONEST.

Hello Peter,

Welcome to this new thread. Yes, I should have used society in the title instead of economy. The plight of these folks is worth noting and this society is truly a "Venus Project" and the corporation Vendanta are in fact pillagers and raiders.

I am not sure of the property rights laws there or how the corporation and the Church wound up with the right to the mineral there. However blowing the top of the mountain off is a ridiculous option for these people.

It is obvious from past performance of this corporation, it is rife with no concern on the costs to that environment. Polluting the ground water for one is a irresponsible thing for them to do.

Hi Jim,

It is history repeating itself again, just in another area. Rules and regulations don't mean anything to some people. To think a church, what ever kind it is, is there and for what, it is greed, they don't care about these people, just as they don't care about anything but the almighty dollar.
My heart goes out to these folks. I think we all need to do what we can to support them in their fight for there freedom. Thanks for the information.

Blessings,
Myrna

Thanks to all that have replied to this thread so far. Know I will not venture with replies here for I am the boogeyman of Adland for whatever reasons. I do know there are eyes seeing what is written in my threads. Therefore I will continue voicing my view, opinions and bringing you more information for your own discernment.

With that said there are more pockets of tribes like these that are threatened. So I hope you will spread the word and bring attention to the plight of these indigenous people. We cannot change history, or should I say we should not revise our history. But we can prevent it from repeating itself.

The Ayoreo

Bulldozers move in on isolated Indians' heartland

The Ayoreo-Totobiegosode Indians live in the Chaco, a vast expanse of dense, scrubby forest stretching from Paraguay to Bolivia and Argentina.

Their territory has been bought by land speculators and ranchers and is now being rapidly cleared.

The Totobiegosode live in small communities. They grow squashes, beans and melons in the sandy soil, and hunt in the forest. Large tortoises and wild pig are particularly prized, as is the abundant wild honey.

In the forest four or five families will live together in a communal house. A central wooden pillar supports a dome-shaped structure of smaller branches, topped with dried mud. Each family will have its own hearth around the outside; people will only sleep inside if it rains. Those Ayoreo who now live in settled communities live in individual family huts.

The most important Ayoreo ritual was named after asojna, the nightjar; when the bird’s call was first heard it heralded the arrival of the rainy season, and a month of celebrations and festivities. Under the influence of the New Tribes Mission, however, this ritual and many others have been suppressed.
