Hi Roger.
Well, since I'm having difficulty going to sleep I'm getting caught up on posting. I miss coming here because I can post whatever I wish in my forum and a few friends still drop by and leave me their thoughts.
Thanks for your comments...I am in a very reflective mood and when I get like this it's good fodder for coming up with my own thoughts, poems and words. Sometimes I wish I could turn it off at will, but it comes when it comes. I wonder if others who write do this as well? Do you? I know you are ahead of my time by about 10 hrs....so maybe you're having tea and a biscuit? Or maybe not! :-)
I think of Rich DeVos as someone who had a lot of vision and determination. I believe their global sales have reached over 6 billion per year (I didn't look it up, but I think this is a figure I remember from when I was doing network marketing). Were you inspired by the personal development aspect of Amway, their products, the networking, or all of these? I think there are many, many people who have experienced similar results that you mentioned. They must have done quite a few things right to have made such an impact on so many .

I was always impressed with Amways awareness of our planets fragility. They still don't get the recognition that they should. They have been offering green and enviro-friendly products for a VERY long time. I still believe their vitimins and supplements to be among the very best and the most responsibly produced. Pricing has always been an issue with me. Yes brilliant products but the very process of MLM makes pricing an issue.
Very few GOOD MLM businesses have less than the best products. Its quality that drives the business, however, it is hard to sell even if they are the best because people are so price concious. There is a difference between cost and value. I believe that Amway products still represent good value.
The big problem with the positive teaching system was human nature. The company encouraged the leaders to promote books and to distribute tapes of rally speeches. That's ok but then some leaders got caught up in greed and power. Not all were like that but a lot of mud stuck to the innocent.
Many multi-millionaires have been made by that company but also many other weaker people paid big financial and personal prices.
The company has never been frightened of change, and the acceptance of environmental products mainstream has cost them in terms of market leaders.
The company principle doesn't work the same in other countries and it was a big learning curve. They have never yet recovered their sales levels here in the UK that they had 15 years ago because they diverted their efforts to more markets, however, their newly adapted policy will always work again somewhere else.
The system that they had CHANGED MY LIFE. They taught me that I could do anything. They refuelled my love of people and taught me teamwork. I am EVER GRATEFUL to those genuine people that mentored and helped me. Money? No, I didn't make a ton. But I changed from one of the sheep to one of the shepherds . I'll never forget that.
I really believe that the founders were inspired.
MLM in general has had a BIG lesson to learn. Some companies are stilll learning the hard way.
If an MLMer complained about a product they had to sell they were always told DONT BE NEGATIVE, OTHERS ARE SELLING IT, BE POSITIVE. Unfortunately, if the company has a flawed product or an over-priced item it will NEVER SELL. The company used to just DISAPPEAR the product with no mention of reason. UNTIL THE NEXT TIME.
The one lesson that they HAVE to learn is to BE POSITIVE but also listen to CONSTRUCTIVE CRITICISM when it occurs.
This is not an advert or a factual statement but merely my view of something that changed my life for the better.
