You surprise me, Kathy, that you more human that I thought previous to this post. These telemarketing callers are people with possibly children that are looking forward to having a Christmas gift from their mom who has to work long hours calling people to earn a meager wage.
I must confess I've been short with a few of them as well but felt guilty every time. I've only been negative in my response when I haven't had the time or patience to ask about their Privacy Policy or the Privacy Officer of her employing company. When I get a "huh" or "don't know what you're talking about", I ask if I could talk to the supervisor.
Another response from me, if I have the time, is to ask where she/he got my number. If I hear anything like the web, I remind them that I have a web site, (I give her the www) that features Amsoil synthetic automotive lubricants and other car care related products and opportunities. If the caller only hears "lubricants" a click is usually the last I hear from them.
