In the Veda tradition, the rope is know as parabola for ilusion: to see the snake whre only the rope is...
The Veda tells us a lot about Man and God, and the ways to have God always present in our mind and heart, and be united to Him.
Its funny because in this story, there's also soomething like the snake/rope equation: for the man, the rope was what he really thought was saving him from dying. Mere ilusion! If one opens our Self and Heart to God, what happens is that one sees the truth - only God is, everything else sprouts from him and the best place to be is in the comfort of His Divine House.
