Re: PARENTS AFFECT TEENS DRUG DECISIONS

Hi Kathy, You have found another great article for us to read. I love it! My kids are 23 and 19 now (not so much kids anymore) and like everyone else have gone through the drugs and alcohol situations with our kids. I agree with Marilyn, if you are not part of your children's life in more than one way, you increase the chances of them taking drugs by 100%. I have found that just being a part and helping them feel like they belong to a group whether it be church, sports, community programs, or just camping with the family, it really makes a difference. If they have something to keep them occupied, then they won't be looking for thigns to do, like drugs. All kids experiment. It will never change. But you can help them see the difference by being there even those times that you don't want to be and that being responsible makes them better people period. (I think that was the longest post I have ever made) Thanks

Hello Curtis, Yes when it comes to are kids we loose track ,but thats ok,Im glad we all agree and have passion about our children. My girls are 13, 14, 15, years old are at that age, but I am a very dedicated mom.my daughters tell me everything. When I have NOT LIKED ONE OF THERE FRIENDS OR THEY ASK CAN THEY HANG OUT WITH SOMEONE I DO NOT CARE FOR I JUST tell them no they can not,and why, if they put up resistance I just tell them Im the boss and your not and they pretty much understand what im saying then, but they always know how much I love them and they love me . So for the next few years I will continue to moniter them closely so they stay on track and luckily they love school and care about there grade point average. Thanks everyone, Kathy Martin
