Hi Johnny:

Ps. I would like to here your thoughts on out-sourcing of web design. It seems that when people hire a web designer now days the look for people overseas to do the work. It is done for a fraction of what US designers charge.
Ther are some good designers in places like India and Russia and let face it where need to make Up to 15 pages: $2500 usd they will do it $400.00 simple because 600.00 a year is a lot of money to them.

I have known people that hired overseas designers and to be honest, the websites did not perform well at all. People oversees often don't know how to market to a North American audience, so they design websites that are inexpensive - look nice, and don't sell. Is it really a savings if the design fails to sell the product?
There was an article in the February, 2005 issue of Wired Magazine about this. The article is Revenge of the Right Brain It talks about the fact that left brain tasks (ie; accounting) can be outsourced to other countries more successfully, but that right brain tasks (such as creativity) can't be outsourced as well.
However - even in saying that - I also acknowledge that there are many designers in the USA and Canada that also don't know how to design a website that performs.
Creating a website that actually sells involves several skills. It is not just "html," and it is not just "design", and it is not just "marketing." It is all three.
Most "graphic artists" don't know marketing. Most marketers don't know the psychology behind layout and design... and people that learned html often don't know either of those.
I have seen websites that were designed by "professionals" but did not perform. They just sat there like a lox. I redevelop them, tell the owner how to promote, and they put money in the bank. Most websites don't.
The bottom line is that anyone can build a website. Building one works is another story.
