Hi:
=======================================
You are all showing a side of yourselves that has remained somewhat obscured until now. Sharing insightful moments and some wry wit. How delightful.
David! "One Tin Soldier." I LOVE that song.
=======================================
Go ahead and hate your neighbor,
Go ahead and cheat a friend.
Do it in the name of Heaven,
You can justify it in the end.
There won't be any trumpets blowing
Come the judgement day,
On the bloody morning after....
One tin soldier rides away.
Funny, you know. I was 11 when Billy Jack came out. The sister I idolized was 18 and wearing love beads and fringed "hippie" clothes. The underlying theme of the move was the clash between "hippies" and middle America.
Have we really come any farther? Look around.
Look at the cliques right here at Adland. Go into another forum and express an opinion that doesn't agree with the forum owner. This is the only forum where people can speak their mind, to my knowledge. (And, I'd add, the forums of most of the people who post here.) Try that anywhere else and you'll get your face eaten.
Go ahead and hate your neighbor...
Look at the people eagerly signing up their "friends" into pyramids and pretending they're doing them a favor.
Go ahead and cheat a friend...
Look at all the people using religion as their shield. Their reason for discounting the worth of another human being.
Do it in the name of Heaven...
It's almost the end of 2005. We can log onto the Internet and communicate with people from anywhere in the world. But we still can't keep our egos in check. We still can't understand that having the right to an opinion means we have to extend that right to everyone else, too, even if they don't agree with us.
We still say one thing and do another. We still blame everyone else before we accept accountability for the decisions WE have made in our lives. We still talk the talk but don't walk the talk.
I've had other forum owners (outside of Adland) ban me for disagreeing with the masses. I've had forum owners delete my posts for agreeing with someone that dared to speak out about things that are wrong. The silent message is shut up and fit in.
Personally, I'm extremely proud of this little corner of Adland. It's a place where we *can* say what we think - and inspire a little thought along the way.

Hmm. I just had an epiphanic moment. Right now! Right at this VERY moment!
Allow me to share:
"Opinion is the flux of life."
=======================================
Here's mine.
What you perceive is what you believe.
Therefore, perception IS reality.
