Australian Jingle Bells

Dashing through the bush, in a rusty Holden Ute, Kicking up the dust, esky in the boot, Kelpie by my side, singing Christmas songs, It's Summer time and I am in my singlet, shorts and thongs Oh! Jingle bells, jingle bells, jingle all the way, Christmas in Australia on a scorching summers day, Hey! Jingle bells, jingle bells, Christmas time is beaut !, Oh what fun it is to ride in a rusty Holden Ute. Engine's getting hot; we dodge the kangaroos, The swaggie climbs aboard, he is welcome too. All the family's there, sitting by the pool, Christmas Day the Aussie way, by the barbecue. Oh! Jingle bells, jingle bells, jingle all the way, Christmas in Australia on a scorching summers day, Hey! Jingle bells, jingle bells, Christmas time is beaut!, Oh what fun it is to ride in a rusty Holden Ute. Come the afternoon, Grandpa has a doze, The kids and Uncle Bruce, are swimming in their clothes. The time comes 'round to go, we take the family snap, Pack the car and all shoot through, before the washing up. Oh! Jingle bells, jingle bells, jingle all the way, Christmas in Australia on a scorching summers day, Hey! Jingle bells, jingle bells, Christmas time is beaut!, Oh what fun it is to ride in a rusty Holden Ute

G'day Linda, Being Aussies ourselves, we know how funny self-depricating humour can be. AND THAT was definitely funny!!! ROFL - Strangely, I hadn't heard that one before. Although, we are not sure if the things mentioned in the prose were "short-comings", as such......just a way of life here, I guess. Aussies are very proud of our Christmas traditions and being in the Summer (frequently above 100F in regional areas) really makes it a good opportunity to spend some quality time with the family. Outdoor entertaining and eating barbecued fare(especially Kangaroo - fantastic rich flavour), and succulent seafood on a balmy evening during daylight savings are truly some of the greatest things about an Australian Christmas. You should come here one Christmas and try it for yourself. You'd love it for sure! Great passage, Linda. Keep 'em comin'!! Warm Regards, Jody and Suzy

Hi Linda, we tend to all think of things in our own little corner of the World. It is good to remember that an Australian christmas day would indeed be different than most places in the US. I was bless enough to be in Mexico one Christmas ministering to the children there. As the pastor and I made the rounds from vilage to village passing out the gifts, fruit, cnady to the children I was awakened to the differences of our customes and food. Christmas is a time we bring joy to the forefront and it is a time we share love. So aharing a laugh with people around the world is a great way to spread the joy of life and what the season is all about. Keep up the good work! Johnny
