Hello my friends, Here is some interesting tid bits for you,Today in History. TODAY IN HISTORY October 28 1492: Christopher Columbus discovers Cuba and claims the island for Spain. 1636: Harvard University is established as America's first institute for higher education. 1886: President Grover Cleveland's dedication of the Statue of Liberty from France is accompanied by a confetti (ticker-tape) parade. 1962: The Cuban Missile Crisis comes to a peaceful resolution as Premier Khrushchev orders the offending weapons withdrawn. 1965: The 630-foot parabolic Gateway Arch is completed overlooking the city of St. Louis as a commemoration of the Louisiana Purchase and the role-played by St. Louis in expansion of the western United States.
