Kathy,
There were two original women, and Eve was not the first companion for Adam...I bet you didn't know that, did you? Seriously, there was a woman before Eve, but she wasn't suited to the plan that God had in mind for Adam. In the beginning there were two a male and a female made in his own image...
Genesis 1: 27, "So God created man in his own image; in the image of God he created him; Male and Female He created them"
In Genesis 2: 8, " The Lord God planted a Garden eastward in Eden, and there He put the man whom he had formed" (Adam)
Having separated the first man, Adam; from his first companion, placing him in the garden.
In Genesis 2: 15 "Then the Lord God took the man and put him in the Garden of Eden to tend and keep it"
In Genesis 2: 16 & 17 he warns Adam not to eat of the tree of Knowledge, and Good and Evil, saying, "Of every tree of the garden you may eat freely" Genesis(2:16) with the exception of that particular tree, God warns Adam of Death should he eat of the forbidden tree Genesis (2:17)
In Genesis 2: 18, And the Lord God said, "It is not good that man should be alone; I will make him a helper comparable to him"
Then in Genesis 2: 21 he caused Adam to sleep a deep sleep at which time he removed a Rib...
In Genesis 2: 22, "Then the rib which the Lord God had taken from man (Adam) He made into a woman, and He brought her to the man"
Now everyone can hate me, because they are going to disagree with the bible... it is Gospel look it up... There are so many wonderful stories in the bible I have read it a couple times and each time I read it I find something new, something that I more than likely forgot.
Anyway Adams first companion, I forgot the woman's name but her name began with an (L) I remember that she later became some sort of fertility figure.
I didn't mean to do this; I am not a Jesus fanatic, just a God fearing man...
Thanks for allowing me this opportunity to comment, I didn’t actually read the forum, I merely read the topic and took off running :)
Again Thanks,
Manuel D.
