Hi Ron;
I hope you don't mind me using your post as an example to direct people over to one of my articles. I see a LOT of people at Adland post to forums saying something like this;
Hi (somebody)
Come visit my site at
www.somewhere....
And you can get free ads (or free traffic, or free whatever...) at
wwww.somewhere-else...
Now, I bet that if you moved into a new neighborhood, you wouldn't knock on your new neighbor's doors and say "Hi, I'm Ron, wanna buy some Xango?"
I bet you'd introduce yourself and have a little friendly conversation before you tried to sell them anything. You'd smile at them and they'd smile back. You'd make chitchat to get to know the neighbors.
Maybe after they know you a bit better, you'd tell them about Xango. After all, who wants to come across like a door to door seller in a new neighborhood?
People forget that when they get online because they're looking at a computer screen and not someone's face. But, it's still important -- probably MORE important. It's a lot harder to make a good impression on anyone when you can't give them a friendly smile and have to rely on words to do it.
I've posted an entire article about this here;
http://community.adlandpro.com/forumShowPost.aspx?PostID=145768
I welcome you to read it, enjoy it, respond to it and share it with your friends, too.
Everyone would have better success online if they could remember that there are millions of faces of flesh and blood people out there where you're seeing just a computer screen.
: )
