Two weeks ago we visited Highclere Castle, Lord Carnarvon's place.

(The Old Lord Carnarvon was the guy that discovered Tutankhamen's tomb in Egypt. Died of the mummy's curse and all that.)
Fascinating House and story. Saw the new Lord but he doesn't live in the house any more (owned by National Trust) but the family use the house at Christmas and New Year.
We would have had tea on the terrace but it was the equivalent of $6 a cup and cake was $7, oooooouuch. We ate later.
We have been fortunate to have tea at Windsor Castle, Churchills family house, Blenheim Palace etc. We have so much hidstory within a few hours drive.
