The highest number of inside cats we've had at any one time was 5. We are down to 2 "tuxedo" brothers. Their mother was a neighborhood wild floozy who knew a good home when she saw it. She brought the kittens to my back door and stayed in the next yard watching to see if I took them in. They were ferral cats and it took a long time to gain their trust but we finally coaxed them inside.
God sent them to us at just the right time. My dad was in the hospital and was diagnosed with liver cancer. Watching the kittens helped us focus on "new beginnings" instead of illness.
One of the cats is black with white feet and bib (Caesar) and his brother is gray with the same markings (Anthony)--we had Cleopatra, too, but she passed on with thyroid cancer.
When they do their nightly last run of the day down the hall in tandem, they look like one cat and its shadow!
